Beautiful building. Good location.
They were in the middle of renovations. In the afternoon it wasn’t possible to take a nap (6yo) as it was too noisy. The room was not particularly clean. The pillows had yellow stains. The pool was filthy and tasted of rainwater. WiFi in the room was really poor and the bathtub didn’t have a befitting plug. It baffled me as they are meant to be a 4-star hotel.

The computer system of this hotel is compromised, which allowed scammers to ask for credit card info through booking.com web portal. After I gave that I was informed that this was a scam, but the hotel wrote to not worry about it and that nothing would happen and if they were, to just send them the statement. Well, scammers did 167 simultaneous charges, totaling $30,000 and cleaned out my account.

Loved the room, the building, and the view.

Mooi, stijlvol, goed bijgehouden oud pand en smaakvol ingericht met authentiek meubilair en aankleding.
Personeel erg vriendelijk (Eerste zin: Welcome home!)

-Check out à 10h trop tôt
- possibilité de garder 7h de plus la chambre moyennant 40$ pour une nuit à 80$ : élevé à mon goût mais pas de choix

The location is brilliant in walking straight into the Old Town’s labyrinth of alley ways and is close to some good cafes and restaurants in the water.
Breakfast is a little very cafeteria and while there is a roof terrace there is no service to it.

The central location and friendly helpful staff
I arrived at 10pm after a long journey with my 15-month old son. Despite having requested a cot and had confirmation of it there was not one in the room but an unmade extra full-size camp bed. A cot was brought but it had one side which was completely broken and had no mosquito net. Additional to which it was high and shallow thus not safe for a 15-month old or any baby who is already sitting. A second one was brought which was even more shallow. The room had Zanzibar (very high off the ground) twin beds with mosquito nets so we co-slept in there but I had to keep a hold of him to make sure he didn’t fall off the bed. Needless to say neither of us slept well.
The kettle in the room was missing the adapter so could not be used.
In the morning I discovered that the room in fact had no natural light so was extremely dark and very depressingly only had harsh white lights.
Breakfast was one of the most unappetising scenes I’ve come across. Porridge was ok.

Very! friendly and careful with guests. I am quite allergic so they removed the carpet from room. Also the pool was very clean. They have new cameras and personal everywhere - super safe place for people who have to work with laptop and expensive stuff. All in all a very good hotel!
The grand door of the backside was open so some noise and dust came to the pool area.

We arrived for checkin at 12 am and 4 booked rooms not ready as agreed. They kept saying we should sit in reception and wait 5 more minutes and the rooms would be ready (numerous times).Waited for 1 1/2 hour almost two, with no apologies whatsoever, and where eventually told that the delayed check in was due to the persons leaving the rooms had payed extra for late check out. I’m in Zanzibar each month and have a lot of people visiting from Europe - will never come back or recommend due to how this was treated from management side.

We spent one night here on a stopover in Stone Town and really enjoyed the historic building, including the indoor pool and thoughtful decoration inside the hotel. The location is also very convenient if you want to explore Stonetown on foot.
The room was OK, although not in good condition and didn't have any view (the windows were bricked up). The bathroom was in need of renovation. The bed was extremely uncomfortable but worst was the food in the restaurant. On our first night we waited for 2.5h for 2 soups. Portions were tiny, of low quality and over prized. The worst experience was the breakfast on the following day. Peanut butter covered in mold, dirty tables, cups and cutlery made us leave the restaurant without touching any food. We booked airport dop off through the hotel and were picked up in by a very old van which broke down on the way.

Location, staff, check-in process, room size and cleanliness.
Nothing as such.

Very central location enabling an easy discovery of the city by foot. Authentic fit out bringing you back to the 19th century. Charming place with a swimming pool in a patio.
The transfer from the airport was not efficient although we had booked in advance (the driver was 45mn late).
The breakfast is not great and missing goods were not refilled and one has to asked for it several times.
Be careful, don’t book a spice tour with the hotel: it was almost a scam. We were brought to a creepy place that was not a spice farm at all.
In addition, the front desk officer made a “mistake” in our visitors’ tax charging us for 2 days instead of one… We noticed that and he made a “mistake” again when giving us our change back…

The hotel is perfectly located - right in the very centre of town! The staff are super kind and helpful, and the pool in the lobby area is quite beautiful. Also, when I complained about my initial room, they upgraded me for free.
Well... Dhow Palace is OLD, and it shows. The rooms and furniture need a complete overhaul. Not a single chair or couch is comfortable. In fact, this may be the least comfortable hotel I have ever stayed in. My first room had no chairs and nowhere to put my things. The bed was simply ATROCIOUS. I slept so badly I thought I had the flu when I woke up because of how much my body ached. The pillow was like a lump of clay. Honestly, my advice to the hotel is PLEASE prioritise comfort OVER the thematic obsession of an old, Omani mansion/palace/home. None of the furniture is useful, functional or pleasant. Also, PLEASE update those rooms. Finally, the hotel is clean and people are ALWAYS cleaning, but with how old everything is, the hotel does not FEEL clean. The hotel is literally at war with itself.

Well located in Stone Town. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. Nice decor and we liked the traditional furniture and furnishings.
The only complaint we had was the AC not working in the room we were given on the second night. However this was the only room left and they were doing us a favour. The room itself was a beautiful room with a balcony from which one could see the sea.

Staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel at home.
Location is great for access to main attractions in Stone Town.
Rooftop terrace is a nice place to relax.
The place has charm, character and interesting history.
Pool wasn’t always clean. Bathroom renovations created unfortunate smells in the pool and dining area.
Wifi didn’t work in our room.
