Situated in Texas City, this lovely condo for $492 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. The online price is for 6 people. Remember the saying "Thank Heaven for 7-Eleven!" We feel that way about our home #711. conveniently located close to the elevator. We have a 1,200-square ft. open concept floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Gulf of Mexico with a beach theme interior, sea glass tiles throughout, and full-size kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. We are directly across from the famous Stewart Beach, down the street from Pleasure Pier, and within minutes from the historic downtown Strand district with restaurants, shops, and nightlife. You can catch the trolley across from the Emerald for a fun day of sightseeing. If you are going on a cruise we are 2.1 miles from the cruise ports. This the perfect place to relax before and after cruising. The Bolivar ferry is approximately 5 minutes away and a free fun trip to see dolphins and visit Crystal beach. UTMB hospital is conveniently 5-7 minutes. Enter in the Emerald on the 1st. floor to the beautiful lobby and elevators. Head to your concierge on 6 and begin your wonderful beach home getaway. We call our giant balcony "Pelican's Porch" and George the pelican will be there to greet you. Enjoy sitting on the balcony in the early mornings with coffee, mimosas or bloody Marys and evenings having a cocktail or glass of wine overlooking the beautiful pool and Gulf while watching the pelicans as they travel back to Pelican Island. ***Our condo is ADA-friendly for manual wheelchairs (scooters ok in kitchen and living only ). The master bath has two sinks with one having open roll-in area under if you open cabinet doors. The shower is barrier-free with access to easily walk or roll-in. Perfect for anyone not wanting to step over high curbs. Keeping with the beach and ocean theme we have grab bars shaped like ocean waves and a shower seat if needed. We added grab bars for any guest needing an assist in both bathrooms. The Master bedroom has a king-size bed, 45" flat-screen TV, and access to balcony. You will love waking up to gorgeous ocean views and watching the shrimp boats. ***2nd Guest room has a queen size bed with another flat screen TV and is next to the guest bath. 3rd Guest features not a twin bunk, but a full size. We had a delightful 2 night Galveston getaway with our family of 4. Great location- close to the action but not in the middle of it. This condo had a great balcony and view of the ocean. I was concerned it might be noisy but the exterior doors and windows seemed to keep any possible noise out. Also, the condo has rules about noise, etc which were greatly appreciated by me. We would definitely stay here again.

What a lovely, relaxing stay we had in Galveston at this beautiful condo. The porch is quite expansive with views that go for miles. My Mother particularly liked waking up in the master bedroom with the blinds open, looking at the ocean. Everything we needed was available and thoughtfully placed. There are cute beach-themed accents throughout. The handicap-accessible shower was perfect for my Mom, who was being treated at MD Anderson in Houston. This was a welcome respite for us, during a break in her treatment.
Lots of restaurants and local businesses readily deliver to The Emerald, and the security and concierge people were friendly, helpful, and professional.
Highly recommended for a renewal of the spirit.

As a wheelchair user, I usually don't look forward to traveling but this trip was awesome. The room was exactly like the host described. The property was very accommodating with ease of parking, shopping, dining and lots of entertainment. The pool, hot tub and grilling space is absolutely perfect. We're already planning our next trip !!!! Thank you Brian & Mary.

Since honest reviews help guests make informed decisions, I thought I should share our experience. Many other reviews indicate the view was great, balcony great and location is excellent all of which I would agree but I did not have a positive experience with the owners.
I would also say there are some areas of this listing which somewhat misrepresent the property. It is listed as a 3 bd/2 bath, but is actually a 2 bedroom plus a very small office they turned into a bedroom with no closet and bunks no sized for average adult.
We had an issue with the refrigerator not cooling properly, so I reported it to the owners. They called onsite maintenance which came up and determined the refrigerator was not cooling properly and they called Sears to come out. The perishable groceries I had purchased for breakfast, lunch and even milk for coffee had to be tossed out. Without a working frig we had to go out for coffee each morning, purchase milk daily for toddlers, plus purchase breakfast and lunch which was quite inconvenient and more expensive than anticipated. I asked if they would offer a partial refund and they initially offered late check out which was of no value to us, as we had to be back home by noon. They came back and said they would offer something but would not let me know what that would be until after I wrote them a review, stating “Before we do that we need to have a review from you on our condo and the resort type property. Plus we need to submit our review on you to VRBO and other owners. We are sure you would appreciate a very positive review as we would.” This statement makes me wonder if possibly there were other guests with similar experience but were coerced into giving a positive review. This is against VRBO policy. If you scroll further down there are other reviews which mention similar treatment, so we are not the only guests who experienced this type of intimidation.
A month after our stay, multiple conversations and continuously being put off by the hosts, the issue has not been resolved and no compensation has been forthcoming and I doubt there will be. I also surmise they will attempt to leave a less than positive review for us; however, I know we left this property in the same condition as when we arrived. Just know that should you have an issue, the owner will attempt to lay blame and fault with the guests and there will be no recourse.

Beautiful building. With great ocean views. A bit of a walk to the beach but if you go out the back way and make a right to Walgreens you will end up at the beach for chair and umbrella rentals. Pool area and barbecue areas were great.

The condo was very clean and had everything we needed. Check in was very easy. It was close to most of the things we wanted to do in Galveston as well as a grocery store. You can easily walk to the beach. The patio was great and always shaded so it was very comfortable. I would definitely return.

The views are great, and the pool deck is amazing! The condo was clean and inviting. The beach is only a short drive (minutes). We enjoyed that we were so close to many things, yet not in the middle of the tourism chaos.

Beautiful, relaxing, wonderful amenities
My family and I were looking for a relaxing get away for the week of Christmas. We have long family history with Galveston and it seemed like the ideal place to visit for the holidays. Beach view, pool, and clean accommodations were at the top of our must have list. Mary and Brian’s beautiful home provided all of that and so much more. The kitchen was clean, organized and well stocked. The condo was charmingly decorated and comfortable. Bedrooms and bathrooms were all that you could want. The concierge was friendly and helpful. Mary and Brian were always just a text away. They responded quickly to our questions. Checking in and out was easy and hospitable. The star of the place was the spacious balcony over looking the beautiful pool and the ocean. Sunrises AND sunsets could be viewed from any of the comfortable seating arrangements outside ( as well as amazing views from inside the condo!) My family and I are already talking about planning another trip to Galveston, and would love to stay at the Hohman’s slice of paradise in Galveston. Thank you Mary and Brian for opening up your home to us. We regret that we did not sign your guest book and leave a rave review. We had every intention of doing just that, but it is easy to lose track of time while taking in life from the balcony.

What an incredible week! We chose to come to Galveston for a week because we had to cancel a cruise due to childcare issues. This was a wonderful substitution! The condo was great with plenty of space for the five of us in the three bedrooms. The very best part is the amazing balcony which is the largest I've ever encountered with a condo. It has a full dining area on one end and full sitting area on the other end with room to spare. It is also twice as deep as any balcony I've seen so it's like having a an additional room at the condo. Unless rain is blowing sideways, you can sit on the balcony and watch a storm. Our great view was of the ocean across the street and the beautiful pool below us. This condo has access to some of the best amenities we've experienced. There is a cold pool, a large heated pool and a hot tub that seats 24. There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas, covered seating areas and 4 great grilling stations that are under cover as well as a game room, theater room and more. On top of all that, the staff here is amazing. They are all so friendly and helpful. We did not want to leave and will definitely be back! Thank you, Mary, for your wonderful hospitality!

I came here with my young family and extended family in conjunction with another unit in the Emerald so that we could have good space with amenities and in a prime location of Galveston. What we loved is that the owners are so incredibly lovely and helpful without being on top of you and allowing you to enjoy your stay! The unit was perfect for our needs whether it be for hanging out and socializing, cooking small meals, sleeping, and everything else! Needs were met and anticipated by the owners in every way and really there is not one complaint I can give. Mary and Brian were the best hosts. It started with us needing parking passes for 3 vehicles and they worked their magic for us. The room was, in our opinion, the best one at Emerald. It has a huge balcony directly over the main pool. Location couldn't be better. The views were wonderful! The pool opens at 11 for non-residents...so if you have little ones, be ready to take them to the beach each morning. We had a 1, 3, and 5 year old with us. Emerald by the Sea's rules are very strict...which can be nice, but also can make it difficult with kiddos (shirts, shoes required every time to walk from the pool to the elevator--so your clothes get wet every time you need to grab something and it is a fight with the toddlers to put their clothes on every time rather than just getting them up to the room. We always felt like we were in trouble, but weren't really doing anything wrong.). However, the bunk bed was so helpful to have with the kids. The crowd here is a much older crowd. Almost like a retirement home, maybe? The pools were wonderful. A 3 ft pool for the kids, a large 4 ft pool for the adults/kids, and a 3 ft huge hot tub. Grills and cooking facilities were also available. No music available or allowed. Exercise facility was only available to the owners. Short walk or drive to the beach directly across the Emerald. Beaches were nice and fun. Parking is between $12-$20/day so we just walked. McDonald's and a few other quick food joints were right by the condo (within walking distance). If it weren't for all the rules from Emerald, we would stay again, because the hosts and the room/pool facility was over the top wonderful...it was just maybe not the spot for our ages. If you don't have kids with you and want a relaxing/romantic getaway, look no further! If you're looking for a trip to treat your kids for a little summer vacation or a loud celebratory bash, I would try something different.
