Charming couple (and their dog and cat) that live on site. They greeted us and gave us the lay of the land upon arrival. Rooms are very clean, generously stocked with coffee and tea, and even chocolate on our pillows. Wifi worked well. Extremely convenient and central location within walking distance the city centre. Bathroom was beautiful and roomy, with a drying rack. We found free parking out on the street right in front.
We were two friends traveling together, so with the beds separated into two twins (and our suitcases) the rooms are a tight fit. But we made it work!

We arrived after 1pm, and there was stranger’s suitcase left in the room. The shower had bad smell.

The location was good and so were the beds.
The images on the listing show a fantastic decor of a classic interior making you think that that is the central location in the house that all rooms have access to to relax and chil. However our room no. 7 was a backhouse room accessible via a narrow and wet ally at the side of the house.
It was really disappointing for the price paid. in all my years of using booking.com I have never been as disappointed as with this stay.

Check in was straightforward, property was large and very central.
Our only contact with a human being was a note left on the door of the guesthouse, directing us to the apartment. The apartment seemed a little damp - only some small windows to open.

The host was very accommodating by holding my luggage after an early arrival and directing me to a nearby cafe for breakfast. Wi-Fi was great for working once my room was ready. there was also a nice little coffee station in my room.
shower didn’t have a curtain or door all the way through which then allowed water to get on the floor.

Thorey and her staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We arrived in Iceland about 4 hours before check-in, and she let us leave our luggage at the guesthouse while we went into town. Thorey arranged a car service both to and from the airport, which was a huge help to my family. Our apartment had one and a half bathrooms and they were exceptionally clean. They even provided electrical outlet converters since we forgot to pack ours.
Everything was great!

Spacious room, complete with a living room and kitchen area that includes a microwave, coffee machine, and kitchenware. Check-in is easy with instructions on the front door of the property so you can arrive at any time. Checkout is also easy by just leaving the key so you can leave any time you want.
The charging point was only available at the left hand side of the bed; and the water from the shower tends to spill out onto the floor area next to the sink.

Comfortable beds, ease of check-in despite not having met any staff (they posted my name and instruxtions at the front door, which is located at the left side of the house). Space is sufficient for 3 nights max, might feel too tight after 3 days in the space.
Clean room and washroom :) we highly appreciate the 3-4 pieces of bathroom towels, not many provide that much towels (of different sizes). Plus the welcome chocolate.
Located in a quiet neighbourhood, amongst residential areas. Easy walk (with luggage) in the summer time (we'd assume), but a bit of a travel during winter, some side walks was icy. Less than 10 minutes to Laugavegur and Rainbow Road.
Room is cozier than expected: tight floor space when two carry-on luggages are open.
Water from the sink and shower has a strong sulphur smell: more prominent after a warm shower.
The shower has no curtain and the glass "door" is small that it doesn't block the water from flooding the entire bathroom floor. Lack of hooks in the washroom.

We arrived at Galtafell in the middle of a snow blizzard after a long drive from the southeast, and it was everything we needed: warm, calm, spacious, and a lot more luxurious than I'd expected, with high quality bedding and a big bathroom. We really appreciated the separate sitting room and kitchen facilities. It's in a pretty residential neighbourhood just a short walk from Hallgrimskirkja, near some good local restaurants. It's a perfect place to stay in Reykjavik - we'll definitely go back!
Everything was perfect!

Everything we needed could be found in the room; mini fridge, comfy beds, under floor heating in the bathroom with good shower/bath combo, great location!
we found condensation coming from the far wall (unsure if this is just a problem with Icelandic builds), space was slightly lacking as we only had a room that fit a double bed with a small gap around the edges, luckily we had small suitcases and found just enough space to place things, I suppose as one of the cheaper hotels in the immediate city area, you pay for what you get. Shame we never got to see the living quarters pictured in the booking.com advertisement but the staff still made our stay fairly personable.

It was close to a few of the main attractions in the city center, we walked everywhere.
Our room is not inside the house so it was really cold, and it took long to be at a decent temperature, we thought it was normal in Iceland due to the weather, but it was the only really cold room we had during our stay.

Hard lumpy pillows were replaced
Heating worked
added bonus - when having a shower, room becomes a steam room controlled by opening front door to -10degree Arctic air!
Fresh towels everyday, rubbish removed and bed made sometimes.
Website pictures of accomodation & standard double room are fictional as is the lounge room - owners lounge - no access to guests. House is owners, guest shoebox rooms in converted garage or Harry Potter style under the house. Hard, cold laminate flooring, no floor heating as mentioned in other reviews.
Room tiny - only room to walk around bed until you bring in 2 suitcases! Amenities actual- 2 coat hangers, kettle, TV - no live channels and cable only if you have your own subscription. Bathroom tiles cracked, laminate held down with sticky tape!
Welcome is - Plastic sleeved note taped to owners front door with your name, room no & message - key in door!
