Custom built Lake Front house with 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, (sleeps 16!) with 2 floors of wrap around decks and a 2 slip covered boat dock positioned in deep clear water. Hello and welcome to the Escape Klaus. This custom built home was designed to provide a “base” with which to build up lasting family memories. We plan to leave the house in our family for future generations. We hope you find an “atypical” rental that feels more like your own home. We would love for you to come back over the years and share our house right on the lake - in the woods - in the mountains - a perfect way to disconnect from the world and re-connect with your family and friends. The roads to the cabin were challenging, but once we arrived we couldn’t have been more pleased. Host was incredible with answering any questions we had during our stay.

The house was great, everything we had read about. The host left us two bottles of wine, which were quite good and very much appreciated! The cove is very quiet and lovely to swim in. The kitchen is quite large and open, so it was easy to keep in the conversation loop when it was your turn to cook dinner. It was also well-stocked with cooking items and serving dishes.
Attractions: We rented a pontoon boat and took it out to see the sites, go inner-tubing, and just float and talk next to it somewhere quiet on the lake. The kids liked climbing up and jumping off of the Jumping Rock just outside of our cove. Huge ice cream servings at Shanghai Marina. Great hamburgers at Flat Hollow Marina. Lovely scenery and very nice wines at Chapman Hill Winery. (We drove there.) The last time we swam in our cove we discovered “Fairy Falls” across from our lake house. Someone put a lot of thought and effort into that tiny falls scenic spot!
A lovely vacation time and we would do it again.

We had a wonderful week long trip. We brought along our JetSki‘s and rented a pontoon boat which was delivered to the dock. The house had wonderful access to the lake and a beautiful spot to swim or paddleboard. Marina’s are close by to gas up or eat which is also very convenient.
Our extended family had a house a few doors down so we had bonfires down there a couple nights and did not have an opportunity to use the one at our home, but it is looked to be a very nice, new set up.
We really appreciated being able to bring our dogs along for this trip. The owners were super easy to work with & the house had everything we needed to cook family meals and enjoy the whole space! We enjoyed the screened in porches for morning coffee (keurig & regular coffee makers provided) and also to enjoy the magnificence of the thunder in the mountains during a couple of rain storms.
The pictures really do not do it justice especially in the summer months when it is very green & beautiful outside. Our whole family really enjoyed this home and our trip.
There are just two things I would advise. 1.Bring your own bath towels. None are provided. Luckily, we brought beach towels as it is customary for most homes we stay in so we made due for the week.
2. Although the walk down to the dock is smooth, it is VERY steep without handrails, and may be difficult for some travelers.
On a positive, the front door is easily accessible from the driveway & makes unloading great!!

We had a great time with our friends and children! The owner Kirby was very responsive to our questions, the property was well kept and right on the lake. Perfect for boating, swimming and quiet nights on the patio. The kids in our group ranged from age 4-9, they enjoyed the movie room, spacious layout and ping pong tables downstairs! Definitely recommend!

Only cons were the parking and the not being able to stream, which we knew before hand. Otherwise, we had a wonderful family vacation. We had our own bathrooms and a place to lay our toddler. The kitchen was fully stocked. Great place and would recommend!

We had a Thanksgiving family reunion here and could not ask for a nicer retreat for this occasion. Even though the lake levels were down, it is still beautiful and peaceful in that part of the lake. The house was as described, clean and well stocked. Follow directions that the owners give you to get here. Our GPS directed us on some questionable gravel roads. The driveway is a bit tricky to navigate and this time of year could be very treacherous in ice or snow. Thankfully that didn't happen during our trip. The basement is also a bit cold this time of year, but we found the house stocked with plenty of extra blankets and comforters. Although this house feels remote, it is not far from grocery stores and restaurants. We would not hesitate to book again.

We had an amazing family vacation at this property. The house was laid out perfectly for us and our young adult children. We had lots of fun in the game room, and the huge projector TV was awesome for college football opening weekend. And what really made it unique was the private dock in a cove that was removed from the main lake traffic, but close enough to easily get anywhere we wanted on the lake. Communication with the owner was easy throughout the entire process.

My family of four shared this beautiful Lakehouse with another family of four. We had plenty of space and the kids really enjoyed the game room and projection TV screen. The Wi-Fi didn't allow for streaming so we purchased DVDs from Walmart and had a movie night every night. The kids had to find ways to entertain themselves other than screens which was a nice challenge for them. We played a lot of boardgames, did tons of tubing and made meals at the house. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We were so pleased we were able to bring our cavapoo Milo with us on the trip. Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely home we enjoyed our first lake Norris vacation.

The ramp is fine, but the roads to get there and back to Escape Clause are bad…real bad. Spend the $15 to $25 launch fee and keep your trailer at the marina to save the wear and tear. Sugar Hollow, Deerfield and others are just as close and your trailer and boat will take so much abuse. Overall a great stay and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Great, quiet location for a large group
Rental experience was excellent. Communication with owners was prompt and accurate. Listing was "as described" in VRBO app. Plenty of room for everyone. Private, covered dock was perfect for both boating and swimming. Two screened sunrooms with ceiling fans were comfortable anytime of day, and used frequently. Like the majority of Norris lake properties, the walk to the lake is steep--something to keep in mind with elderly or disabled guests. Overall, we loved this property and would highly recommend it to others.

Great family vacation—-would rent again.
This is a great home for a family vacation. All bedrooms have their own very nice bath, the kitchen is very well equipped for anything you might want to cook, and the lower level game area was fun for everyone. We experienced storms part of everyday we were there, but still had plenty of space, without feeling “stuck” inside. The mattresses and pillows were not very comfortable. I would recommend bringing your own pillows. The dock is nice with a great swimming area in a quiet cove. This house is quite a way from town, and without the owners directions you will never find it. Nice place!

Beautiful, Serene, and Fully Stocked!
The house is clean, the views are so peaceful, and everything you need is provided. Jason is super responsive with any questions and helpful with any information you are in search of in preparation for your trip. There are some steep slopes, but they are manageable once you get used to it - this is what enables the clean, calm lake! Not much is open in the early season (early to mid April) but we enjoyed our stay!

Easter Weekend Getaway
This cottage is in a great spot on Norris Lake. Not far from the highway, grocery store, and a little Pizza/Sandwich spot as well as several marinas. We loved the screened-in porch and coffee on the dock. The home is better than advertised with plenty of room for everyone in the family to have some time together as well as in their own little nook. Cooked at home two evenings the kitchen was well stocked and the grill was great. Gorgeous views day and night. Hope to be back when we can get in the water and do some boating.

Amazing house and views!
The house was everything we could have asked for and more. The views of the lake and surrounding areas was amazing. My whole family loved the place. The only downside was the drive way, we had a car get stuck and had to have it towed up the hill. The curve of the driveway was to sharp and steep for it to get up the hill. We had to wait 3 hours after check out for a tow truck and the owners were super gracious about it. They made sure we could get back in the house to wait. So if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing place away from it all to unwind and reboot this place is perfect. Just don't take low lying cars, the road the house is on is gravel and the drive way is steep.

Secluded Hideaway
Escape Klaus is everything it is advertised. Great private cove with a extra wide two slip covered dock. Never had to worry about it getting rained on or beat up by waves. Walkway is a little steep but no different than any other house on Norris. Loved the two screened in porches. Be aware that the last part of the trip to house is on gravel road. Gives it that extra secluded feel. The owner Jason was super welcoming, responsive and great work to with. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
