About this house rental
Located in Funchal, this attractive house for $143 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. This is a typical Madeiran house in a residential street. It has good security behind a wall with automatic gate and has been completely renovated inside and out. With two bathrooms and amazing views from the roof terrace. It is a conveniently situated, tastefully appointed and a comfortable holiday rental. This is not a quiet country retreat as the house is close to the city centre so there is the usual city sounds from traffic & the local neighbourhood. Please note the rates are fully inclusive for 2 people. The house sleeps 4 and there is an added one off cost of GBP100 if 3 or 4 of you are travelling to cover the additional laundry, cleaning and utility charges. Check out is10am. We regret we cannot check in guests after 6pm as we do not have staff available after this time. Please be mindful of this when you book your flights. Thank you.

Spacious, light-filled, airy & comfortable house with all living, dining & sleeping areas all on one level. Safe & secure house & neighbourhood. Wonderful sea views from the large roof terrace, up a flight of stairs. Well equipped kitchen with separate laundry room. Perfectly located near to the lively Old Town, a short walk downhill. Just watch the step into the laundry room & the one on the roof terrace. Good communication with the owner, Karen. Ideal holiday accommodation.

Lovely clean well equipped house in a brilliant location. Fantastic view of the brilliant town of Funchal from the terrace. The owner and agent were both extremely helpful. There is plenty to do in the town and the terrace has the sun all day.

We had a wonderful stay at Karen's house. The apartment is large and spacious, so the 4 of us had a relaxing time. Pick up at the airport was easy and Joao and Karen were always very helpful when there was a problem. The roof terrace is fantastic and the shower made it easier for us to get through the hot days. Yes, there are drains in front of the door, earplugs helped. But otherwise the area is very quiet and the location is just too good. We were very happy to be in this corner of Funchal as we could do a lot of walking.

This is a lovelly house with every amenity that you need. But for us the best part ot the property was the amazing rooftop terrace where we spent long leisurely breakfasts and warm evenings watching the busy harbour.

This is an lovely old Madeiran house which has been beautifully restored and updated, with all you need for an excellent stay. The rooftop is perfect for sunbathing in the day, or sitting with a drink as the sun goes down. It is in the old town, with bars and cafes in easy reach. It is partway up a steep cobbled street, which gives you good exercise and adds to the character of the place. We loved it

The only thing that I would ask future guests to be cautious of are 1) step as entering laundry room and 2) step on roof terrace when getting patio furniture out. The tiles are the same colour and you could miss the step. Other than that lovely property in an ideal location for visiting the Old Town of Funchal.

We loved the property. We arranged for Joao collect us from the airport and he was waiting when we arrived. He let us in and showed us round. The house is spacious and very well equipped and maintained; a real home from home. We have been to Madeira before. This time we managed without a car as the buses run from near the cable car station or along the sea front, only a short walk away. Some nights we went into the old town where there are many restaurants and other nights we cooked and ate on the roof terrace. Lovely views from there. We hope to return.

We had a great time at this property and in Madeira. The view from the rooftop terrace is lovely, especially watching the boats arrive and depart. The property is on a hill and much family entertainment was had parking the hire car at the property! Driving in Madeira is good practise for hill starts! A short walk down the hill is a swimming area and bar, and not much further is the start of the old town and the many restaurants.
The property has everything you need and is very homely. Karen, the host, responded very quickly to all our messages and our contact in Madeira, Joao, was very helpful and accommodating. We had a wonderful stay!

This house is amazing. It’s in the heart of the old town and is a very spacious two bedroom, two bathroom property. It has a fabulous kitchen and large dining area. It has a wonderful large roof terrace with sea views where you can sunbath and relax. It’s got everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Madeira. We would definitely stay here again if we revisited Madeira. The airport pick up/drop off service organised by Karen with her local representative is also very good and reasonably priced.

Das Haus liegt sehr zentral zur Altstadt Funchal mit zahlreichen Restaurants und Bars. Das Haus ist im traditionellen Stil erbaut und frisch dekoriert. Die Zimmer sind geräumig und Ess- und Küchenbereich sehr groß, alles ist sehr persönlich eingerichtet. Die Dachterrasse mit spektakulärem Blick auf Atlantik und Hafen ist fantastisch. Die Straße ist eine kleine Einbahnstraße, aber in den Morgenstunden herrscht für kurze Zeit doch recht viel Verkehr. Wir haben uns in dem Haus sehr wohl gefühlt.

Fabulous!
This was our first visit to Madeira and we had a fantastic holiday. Being picked up at the airport by Joao and then being showed round the house was a great start. The photos on the website dont do Karen's house justice. The view from the roof terrace is amazing . We loved the hustle and bustle of the Old Town bars and restaurants that are just 10 minutes walk away. The city centre is only another 5-10 minutes away and has everything you could need. Lots of history, lots of things to see and do. We enjoyed Funchal so much that we are returning to Karen's house next year to explore more of the island.

Das liebevoll persönlich dekorierte Ambiente lädt ein zum Entspannen und Wohlfühlen, und es fehlt an nichts!
Die Dachterrasse ist so gut wie ein zusätzlicher Wohnraum mit absolut traumhaftem Blick über die Altstadt, den Hafen, Meer und Himmel... Die Lage des Hauses ist fantastisch, in einer ruhigen Gegend, und dennoch erreicht man schnell zu Fuß die Innenstadt und den Hafen; mit dem Auto dauert es keine 10 Minuten bis zur Schnellstraße, über die man an jeden Ort auf Madeira kommt. Und zum nächstgelegenen Atlantik-Badeplatz und der Lieblingsbar ist es ein drei-Minuten-Spaziergang.... besser geht's nicht!

And it's a three-minute walk to the nearest Atlantic bathing area and favourite bar .... It doesn't get any better than this!

The house is on a fairly steep one-way road but there is ample parking nearby. Parking at the property is manageable with a small vehicle. The house is exactly as described and I would only add that the pictures do not do it justice. It is a short and relatively easy downhill walk to the Old Town where there is a great choice of traditional restaurants and a friendly welcoming ambiance. The centre of Funchal is also easily reached on foot. The house is very well equipped including a smart TV, the wifi is reliable and the kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering. Amazing house with spectacular sea views
The whole experience from initial enquiry to booking and staying in this large family home was delightful.
The house is spacious and clean with a large roof terrace overlooking the sea and Funchal bay. The house has all you need if you decide not to go out every time to eat and could easily spend all day on terrace
It is situated on a hill with amazing views as you walk down to the numerous restaurants and bars. If you decide to go into central Funchal it is a cheap cab fare back

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderfully relaxing holiday in beautiful Madeira at Karen’s lovely house.
Everything is as described and the house is spotlessly clean and spacious.
The views from the terrace, which enjoys the sun all day, are simply stunning both day and night.
Location wise the property is very hard to beat being only a short walk to the restaurants and bars of the old town and only slightly further to the centre of Funchal with it’s supermarkets, cafes and shops.
Communication with Karen was first class throughout and Joao who met us at the airport was on hand locally if we encountered any problems, which we didn’t.
I have no hesitation in recommending Karen’s property. It’s certainly now our preferred option in Madeira.
