Short walk to the lake!
About this house rental
Enjoy this cozy, air conditioned cottage 3/10ths of a mile from Lake Raystown. The house is new construction on a wooded 2.5 acres in a quiet neighborhood. Walk the path* to the lake with kayaks or paddle boards, your fishing poles, or just a beach towel and a good book. Bask in the peace and quiet of an evening spent on the deck overlooking the woods. Have fun exploring the woods and building forts, then enjoy roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. Drive ten minutes to the Allegrippas trail head to mountain bike or to Seven Points Marina to boat or go to the beach. It’s also only ten minutes to downtown Huntingdon and ten minutes to Snyder’s Run public boat launch. This family friendly cottage features an open floor plan kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen is well appointed for those who like to cook, with bar seating for 2 and a table that expands to seat 8. There is a desk in the living room in case you need to work remotely and wifi to keep you connected. It sleeps 8, with 3 small but charming bedrooms, 2 with queen beds and one with twin bunk beds, and a queen pull out couch in the living room. There is a washer/dryer for your convenience. Laundry detergent is provided. When you need a break from swimming, fishing, and exploring, there are plenty of books, puzzles, and board games for all ages, as well as a smart TV, DVD player, and DVDs for all ages. *Please note the path comes off the end of the road, where there is a cul-de-sac for parking. The path is maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. Due to the way Raystown Lake was created, the path to the lake is downhill, which means of course that the way back is uphill, and it is relatively steep at parts. This can be difficult for some people. If you would like easy access for kayaking, you can drive up and drop your kayak right on the beach at the Snyders Run Boat Launch, ~10 min away. The beach at Seven Points is free with free parking and offers more level entry for swimming, about 10 min in the other direction. Sheets are NOT provided. A kitchen towel and dish cloth are provided, but other towels are NOT. We do provide mattress pads, pillows, quilts. We do provide starter paper towels and starter toilet paper, as well as trash bags, basic soaps (dish/hand) and laundry detergent.

Cabin, property and hosts were very nice. The cabin was located just a short drive away from the seven points marina.

The property was perfect. There was everything and more already supplied from roasting sticks for stores, outside table to eat while cooking on the grill, to a cozy feeling of being at home. There just enough room that everyone was able to relax and not be bothered with one another if a baby was sleeping or if someone wanted to read a book. The beach was close to walk to if your energetic for a steep walk home. The house is loaded with cooking supplies and has all brand new appliances! I would rent this cute house again...especially after watching deer on the property in the morning.

We have been visiting Huntingdon for years and always wanted a place to stay near Raystown Lake. This location is ideal for swimming, kayaking, boating, or just sitting by the lake with your feet in the water. The house is well equipped with essentials for meals, sleeping, and general entertainment. Strong wifi was key and handled all our devices without lagging. The owners are very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions. We had a very nice stay with extended family and look forward to returning.

Renting this beautiful property was a pleasure from start to finish. The owners were friendly, helpful, and organized; and the house was beautifully maintained and well-stocked with all of the necessities. The owners clearly care about this property-- and about giving their guests a wonderful experience! We can't wait to return. :)

This property was perfect for a small trip to the lake to take our boat out. The house was clean and stocked well with all the necessities. There was enough room to pull our boat in the driveway. The short walk down to the lake was an added bonus. Our family will definitely consider staying here in the future for our small getaways!

Great raystown rental
This clean new little house was the perfect spot from which to launch raystown adventures. It was 10 minutes to Huntingdon and it’s services, 10 minutes to the Allegrippes mountain bike trails, and a short walk to the lake. The expansive deck was a wonderful spot to start the morning with a cup of coffee and end the day with a book. The house was clean, the furniture comfortable and the hosts were responsive.

The property was well maintained and very clean. It was great to sit on the back porch and enjoy the wind in the trees and listen to the birds. The fenced in backyard was perfect for the kids to run around! Also, my husband was very happy with the outside electric outlet where he was able to charge his Tesla.

Owners allowed us to check-in several hours early which was much appreciated! Arrived to find an extremely clean, new home. There were 3 of us so we each had our own bedroom...very nice. Beds were quite comfortable. Was convenient to have two bathrooms. Plenty of pressure and hot water for showers. Well supplied kitchen had all we needed for our meals. We also used the gas grill twice. The only disappointing thing was the walk down to the lake. We thought the path to the lake was on the property, but it wasn’t. The walk down the road to the cul-de-sac to the path is rather steep as is the path itself. We didn’t even attempt to kayak from there. Carin had previously suggested launching from Snyder’s Run Boat Launch and we were glad she did as that was much more “doable” than the steep, somewhat overgrown path. It was only a short 10-12 minute drive from the cabin. Do not try to get to Snyder’s Run via Family Lane...it’s impassable. It looks like a short-cut on Google Maps, definitely not...you must go down to town and then only a few minutes from there. We actually found it nicer to launch from Snyder’s than from the Marina as the whole area there is No Wake. We definitely enjoyed our stay at Lakeside and would certainly stay there again. Thanks Carin & Matt for sharing your vacation home!

The house is new clean and modern with all the amenities one could need. . The back porch is big and well covered. We had a crazy storm come through. A branch fell across the driveway blocking us in. My daughter is 8 months pregnant and the owner had the branch cleared in less than on hour. We didn’t have to go anywhere but he wanted us to have the freedom to come and go if needed. He then told me my son and family who rented a house boat on the lake could stay in the house if needed. The owner cares about his renters and that’s another great reason to rent this home. Close to the lake via a trail about 100 yards down the road. The trail is a bit of a challenge but if you take your time going up you’ll be fine. Thanks for a great stay.

My family spent 4 wonderful nights at Lakeside lake house. There were 7 of us ranging from 2 to 65 years old.
Pre-planning and communication with Carin and Matt was outstanding. Carin was fantastic to work with and extremely responsive.
The house seems at first small, BUT the reality is, it has everything you need in a compact, pleasant space. Everything was neat and clean and NEW. We loved it.
The couches and beds were comfortable and beautiful. The appliances were top of the line. The kitchen island was so useful, especially having 2 stools my grandsons loved to sit at. The dining table and chairs were perfect as well.
Moving to the outside, the porch and porch furniture were perfect. We so enjoyed the fire pit every night. It was so nice of the owners to allow us to use their firewood.
The owners certainly have thought of everything to include in the home. It's nice when there are paper products there already. We played several of the games and even used some of the toys, once my grandsons discovered them.
Also nice that they provided information about activities and restaurants and the surrounding area.
While the description of the proximity to the lake was accurate in all the descriptions, it certainly was challenging, but we made it work. It did help to drive to the end of the road. And it was nice that we had the option of just walking down and getting to the lake. The water was clear and clean and we enjoyed a lot of time even swimming there.
NOTE - we rented a pontoon boat at the Marina, and good to know, we could drive right up to the spot at the end of the path near the house, and drop off or pick up people. We weren't sure about that as they had warnings about mile markers when you rent the boat, but it was super convenient.
You certainly will not be disappointed if you rent this lovely home. And you certainly will be happy to work with Carin and Matt.
Thank you for an excellent family vacation experience!!
