The staff was very accommodating and kind. We had some car troubles and they were more than happy to help us when it came to our luggage and checking out later. I would absolutely stay there again.

Overall, great staff! Upon arrival we had to wait a bit for someone to show up to the front desk. It seemed like there was only one gentleman working, and he was downstairs at the restaurant. Once he came up though, he was very friendly.
Our room was clean with beautiful decor, but a couple lightbulbs were burnt out. The bathroom door, a pocket door, was literally one foot away from the side of the bed. Luckily, my husband and I have been together long enough to lose all sense of privacy when it comes to that.
Overall, nice place and we would consider staying again. We loved the quiet nature of the place and its location felt safe. The kind staff made us feel welcome. The vintage, moody decor was gorgeous. With a couple tweaks, this place would’ve been a 5/5.

Cool hotel that has a classic feel but with nice updates. Historic vibe and a great location.

What a lovely hotel! Lots of personality and charm. Great restaurant and speakeasy on site. Awesome coffee shop right around the block. Rooms were very spacious and beds were quality. Gave 4 starts on 2 rating options because pillows were too high and firm, causing some neck discomfort in the morning along with the room door needing some work to close/open efficiently.

The check in process was quick and easy! I had a friend visiting from out of town and we stayed for one night and didn’t have enough towels when I called the front desk fresh towels came up in less than 5 minutes! Would definitely visit again.

First the good….Hotel was amazingly clean. Very trendy, boutique hotel. The staff we dealt with was very helpful and knowledgeable. The problem with the staff is they were way understaffed.
Comfort: Bed was horribly uncomfortable and sat at an angle with the head being lower than the foot of the bed.
Amenities: plenty of television stations but couldn’t watch anything as the picture and sound was super choppy. It was satellite based tv so it was to be expected.
The speak easy in the basement is really quaint with a cool vibe, although way overpriced.
Do not eat at the onsite restaurant. From the time we were seated to our food being brought to the table, it was an hour and 4 minutes with one of the dishes arriving cold. Server was good and very accommodating.
I may update review once I get information from my bank regarding a suspicious charge on my credit card.

Hospitality was underwhelming. Did not feel welcomed and staff were not helpful. Room was clean but had electrical problems and phones did not work in the room. Front desk never answered the phone after multiple calls over multiple days during reservation process. There was a lot of maintenance happening with loud noises all hours of the day.

The charm and feel of this hotel is so cool! It was like we were back in the 1920’s

Need to dust your rooms, very dusty light fixtures.

Couldn’t do valet because they didn’t know how to drive a manual, so had to self park. Was told it would be validated, and then at check out they refused to validate it. Charged for parking because they didn’t staff someone who could drive a manual car on a Saturday night.

I booked a room for the 30th of march. I’m a travel nurse so I frequently travel and stay in hotels. That night I arrived after midnight to room and the front desk male worker was very impolite and questioning why I didn’t call them to let them know I was booking late. Again I frequently travel and I guess I’ve never had an issue on what time I check in to the hotel. After explaining that I had not called he got me my room key to 10th floor where i attempted several times to enter room and the key didn’t work I went downstairs to resolve issue 2 more times and same thing happened. I then was frustrated and had just told the worker to forget it I wasn’t going to stay there.

17th floor and 1 working elevator was a major pain. Wait times were long to go up or down.
Rooms and hotel were cold. Room temp never went above 68deg. Tried to get it to 74 and nothing turned up to 80 and nothing.
Bathroom sink was plugged and drained very slowly.
Location was great for stay and NCAA wrestling g championships.
Staff was great. Very friendly and helped as needed.
Parking was not convenient and valet parking g was expensive.

The hotel has great character. However, upon arrival we had to wait in the lobby for a bit because the computer system was down. Which was no issue however, we were told it had been down for 4+ hrs. At that point some other plan should have been made instead of having customers wait.
The Pictures of the rooms online are bright and airy. However, our room was like a dungeon. The room had black/dark gray walls along with black floors. We had two windows that were unable to be opened due to the proximity to the apartment building next door. We also stayed for 3 nights and never had our room cleaned. Our last day there we asked specifically for some new towels which were received.

Lovely old building with amazing lobby. Checking was easy and staff helpful. Room was very nice and was on upper floor with some view, though mostly just other tall building. Elevators were a bit confined, and in the mornings could take forever to get one as only 3 for all the floors (roughly 20). Onsite restaurant was nice atmosphere and staff was excellent. Food was really good as well. Prices were higher, but expected for location.

Overall, this hotel is historic and beautiful. Rooms are updated but with a historic look and feel. Halls are narrow and dark.
During the stay, two of the three elevators were out of order and we had to use the very narrow and steep stairs up and down 10 floors with our luggage and children. This was VERY inconvenient and less than ideal at check out time when the one (very small) elevator was being fought over by all the guests at the same time. I would not recommend unless the elevators are all in working order!

The rooms were great! Nice size and comfortable beds/pillows.
There was water in the lobby but it was empty more often than not. I think there was an issue with an elevator this weekend also, only 1 seemed to be working so it was always a long wait coming in and out.
Other than that, the staff was great, rooms were nice and it was a great location!

The valet parking was efficient. However we stayed one night and were charged for two days of parking. That was a major disappointment. Also we arrived back at the Hotel at 9 pm from our concert to find out the restaurant was only serving drinks while the closing time was 10 pm.

I would not stay again. Reservations required, even for the bar. No refrigerator in the room. The front desk staff called me after 10 PM at night when I was already sleeping and woke me up.

The bathroom needed a new coat of paint, makeup arks on walls and floor needs to be cleaner. I expect more from this hotel.

Loved staying here!! Perfect KC hotel. Only thing was the valet parking was nice but getting your car back took a while on a busy checkout morning.

The room was nice, and I really loved the text at the beginning of our stay. My issues were the floor and room both smelled musky. In the morning when I went to check out, the lady behind the desk was more focused on her phone than checking me out. I just left my keys and walked over to get my vehicle which that team was very helpful. They apologized that we had to wait and told me that if I would have called down, they could have had my truck ready.

Stayed there one night. Nice front desk staff but not superb. Asked for an extra roll out bed and it was delivered promptly.

All the staff were friendly and helpful-from the front desk to the valet service to the restaurant servers. Wish I had everyone’s name!! Not a single bad experience. Not even a blah one. I can’t wait to see what the hotel looks like after all the renovations are completed. Would definitely stay here again!!

I picked our hotel, one it had a claw bath tub and two it was close to our event. I really did not want to spend that much on a room but the location and tub helped a lot. Really looked forward to a relaxing weekend. Only to find the tub not usable due to it being dirty also really bad leaks. The outlets did not work. The lamp did not work. Water damage on walls and ceiling. For the amount of money I paid I was not thrilled. Ended up staying at another hotel the next day.

For being a higher dollar hotel downtown, there was No parking. Had to pay 18 dollars a day to park in a trashy parking garage behind the hotel. No microwave, no fridge, very small ice machine on the floor with zero vending but water bottles in the room they charge for. Rooms are small, bathrooms and showers are even smaller. Not much for hot water. No amenities to match the price.

The hotel was nice, along with the room and service, but my door wouldn't close all the way unless I pulled on it hard. I mentioned this to the desk

Beautiful hotel and rooms, just noticed the bathroom could've used more of a sweep closer to the walls. Otherwise everything else was clean, fresh, and comfortable.

Liked that it was reasonably small and historic. Didn’t like parking costs, although it was not too inconvenient…

The staff were super friendly. We had a bunch of things we were taking in and out of the hotel for a dance competition and they were helpful getting things out of the lobby.
When we called down to ask if there was a microwave to warm up our food, they responded we can just send one up to you!
We will definitely book again if needed!

Trip was amazing and hotel is very comfortable and nice. Great location with lots to do in the area. Speak easy was enjoyable and a nice touch. Only complaint is the valet service takes for ever. Anytime we wanted our vehicle it would take 30 minutes plus to get it. We tried to take the shuttle which is ran by the same department and they said they couldn’t because they were too busy doing valet services. Don’t get me wrong, these guys were great and very friendly, but In my opinion they were very understaffed in that department and was not worth the $36 plus tip each day.

We stayed two days on a family visit. This hotel is stunning! Built in 1931, it is an art deco marvel. Visit the speakeasy. Yes, a real speakeasy. The staff has to let you in the secret door. Ask to see the Crystal Ballroom. It's a time capsule. Other than replacing worn flooring and paint, it's unchanged since they opened the hotel. The drapes have hung there since 1929!. I can find only two faults with it. One is the restaurant, which has a sparse menu. You don't need to add your own signature touch to Biscuits and Gravy. Onions in breakfast gravy is nasty. Other than that, the rock music piped over the speakers when you arrive is totally innapropriate for the property. This is a MUCH CLASSIER HOTEL than that. Despite that, we will definitely be back again.

Had a reservation for Christmas brunch. Was sat a dirty table, waited 7 minutes to be told “you are at a dirty table” waiter walks away comes back sprays table and his apron is filthy. Then walks away. Come back asks what we want to drink then brings only water. We wait 5 more min get coffee (was awful)
Takes out order and doesn’t write it down. We only asked for one change and that was to omit potatoes on one meal. Food comes and it’s completely wrong, sauce for one meal is on another and both have potatoes, no fruit as menu stated. Waited never came back until we finally asked for the check. Super disappointed

Good stay! Customer service was excellent, from front desk to valet. Hotel did not have a refrigerator or microwave, could possibly be available in other rooms but not sure. A bit dated but fits the style of the hotel. Good one time experience for me.
