Absolutely amazing stay at the Colony! We felt welcomed immediately, and our dog was welcomed with a thoughtful bag of goodies from the hotel. Rooms were super clean and the property was so pretty! Breakfast was great and the blueberry pancakes are fantastic. This is the hotel to book in Kennebunkport!

Definitely a family run operation and run down with a lot of potential. Needs to be renovated and staffed properly, including accessibility throughout property. Not easy for wheel chairs or strollers, and parking lot is very strange and narrow. Beautiful views of you get the right room, be careful what you book, you could wind up in a different building with no views that’s a considerable walk away from amenities.

This property has a great view of the sea, the pool is uniquely located seaside and a good size. The historical hotel may not have all the modern amenities of a newer abode but the charm definitely makes up for it!!

Pros: Very beautiful old hotel. Staff is super friendly and helpful! Great location and beautiful grounds!
Cons: There was a wedding each night we were there and it took away from the hotel experience. Very antiquated.

Room was very small, bathroom the size of a mini closet with no room for toiletries. No TV in room, outlets for chargers were under a desk or under a bed. I had to go on my knees to plug my iPad and phone.
Staff were very pleasant and accommodating.

Our visit to the Colony was a daughter/mother trip. The hotel was idyllic and was perfect for our stay. The rooms, not large in size, were clean, the bed had very nice linens and was comfortable. There wasn’t a tv in the room-but not a big deal as Kennebunkport has plenty to fill your days and evenings. The pool was beautiful, although we didn’t get the chance to use it. Breakfast was delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. We would definitely stay again. Thanks for making our stay perfect!

Beautiful setting with wonderful views. Survived Hurricane Lee too.
Easy walking trails along the coastline and into the quaint town area.
Even had a wedding to witness ( we were not invited) as they took over most of Colony Hotel and we were not notified of this. I feel that would of been something to tell us when we checked in, so we could of made other arrangements for that day.

There is no air conditioning in the rooms. It was a miserable night’s sleep. Woke up to dogs barking super early due to having to sleep with the windows open. We heard lots of doors slam throughout the night. The views are amazing and the breakfast was excellent, but it is WAY overpriced for the lack of a/c and the size/quality of the rooms.

At this price, there should be a tv. Also, ended up with a room above the kitchen with a view of the roof below. Could not even hear the waves.

Lovely historic hotel although tired in areas. Specifically, doors & handles felt sticky & looked dirty. We knew that rooms had no TV which is good since adjacent guests talking in their rooms could be heard…imagine if TV! Also, room doors slam & locks got stuck since old style with key. Nice salty Heated pool. Daily breakfast buffet was diverse, could have homemade breads & muffins instead of store bought at that price. Great location & views!

This grand old hotel has been around for many decades and is charming, has a wonderful staff, allows dogs, and has a huge salt-water pool overlooking the Atlantic.

The staff is always welcoming, the rooms, while small, are neat and clean. The resort sits on a hill with a great view of the ocean. We really enjoy the sense of security, freedom to walk around the property and the family atmosphere.

This hotel feels like summer camp. If you like that sort of thing, you will enjoy it. If you want any modern convenience, you won’t. Cozy is a term you could use, but cramped and old are more appropriate. It’s old, dusty and run down. Views are amazing. Staff is nice. But it’s not my cup of tea.

No complimentary water. Had to buy it. Charge me more and include a bottle of water. Pet friendly but had to eat breakfast outside at an unclean table. The evening before with guests we sat inside with dog, same restaurant, conflicting rules. No tv. No AC but did not need it. Still believe it is better than any other hotel in area.

The Colony is always wonderful. Views are spectacular. Hotel is clean, rooms are comfortable and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
We enjoy the breakfast buffet , but found it to be smaller in their offerings this year.
You can just relax and play cards on the beautiful porch overlooking the water, enjoy a swim in their saltwater pool, or walk across the street and meander on the beach.
It’s our go to place to refresh our minds and relax. We try to visit every year.

We stay at the Colony yearly and find it a nice old comfortable inn. Had to change rooms because of construction and was somewhat disappointed having to pay a substantial up charge. Waitstaff very good. The inn is extremely dog friendly so be forewarned about pee on the stairs

We are from the Berkshires and northern Michigan. The Colony reminds us a bit of The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and a lot of the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge—two iconic and beloved properties.

Beautiful historic inn in a gorgeous setting overlooking harbor. Walk along Ocean Avenue close. Loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

Room picture was not indicative of actual room. Building had rusted fire escapes, was in dire need of paint and in general disrepair. Walls were so thin you could hear people in other rooms blow their noses.
Overall a terrible experience for the price paid.

Staff was friendly. Historic hotel amenities are consistent with the times the hotel was built. Bed was very uncomfortable.

Beautiful property! Our room was recently remodeled - small but nice. Only negative was no tv in the room. Breakfast was included and was excellent. Dinner in Marne room was mediocre and over priced.all in all a nice stay.

Our recent stay at The Colony Hotel far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The views were spectacular. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was incredible and fairly priced. Upon arrival we were served a glass of sparkling wine, which was a nice treat. Although we did not bring our dogs, the property is very dog-friendly. We are already planning our visit for next fall. I highly recommend The Colony Hotel.
