We loved Martin House Inn: so cozy, full of old atmosphere, among the best in Nantucket! We recommend it to everybody...

The Inn was quaint, cozy room, nice breakfast area with lit fireplace, coffee always available. Breakfast of tasty pastries, and home made cookies in the evening. The innkeeper was pleasant, very helpful, friendly, and provided info about the island. The Inn was a 10 minute walk from the ferry, and 5 minutes from downtown. Nice to not have to deal with our car.

Perfect location. Clean. Friendly.

Great location close to the downtown area. Warm and welcoming accommodations by Petecia the inn keeper. She had great restaurant recommendations and sightseeing tours offered on the island. Thoughtful details such as an adequate yet beautiful displayed complimentary breakfast. In the evening you can expect teas and cookies after a long day of sightseeing. A definite recommendation for solo or small group travel.

This is the second time i have stayed at this propedfy. In the year between, new ownership has occurred. It will be interesting to see if the changes being proposed are feasible in a community which closely regulates historical buildings.

Really enjoyed the relaxed feeling of the Inn. Easy walk to town.

The bathrooms are modern and clean.

We LOVED our stay. The innkeeper, Cindy, was so kind and gracious. She had cookies laid out each afternoon and a delicious breakfast each morning. The Inn was quiet and nice. We did the shared bathroom option, and it was always clean. Walking distance from steps beach and then downtown. We loved our stay! Would highly recommend it.

The innkeeper was great, the breakfast was delicious and the location perfect!

Nice property, however the roof deck was missing and I did not see any "snacks" like cheese and crackers put out in the evening. The morning breakfast is continental but a nice spread. The location is great to walk to town for shopping and dining!

Very quaint historical home, every room is different. Beautifully appointed and well maintained. Convenient central location. Would stay again if we had the opportunity.

This is a very charming place to stay. We loved the look and feel. The breakfast is amazing! The room was spacious and comfy. The location is good, convenient to downtown. I didn’t love sharing a bathroom, but we made it work. The hostess makes sure there are always fresh towels and it’s kept neat.

The staff was superb and very inviting, accommodating, and friendly. The rooms were very quaint, stoic, and well designed with plenty of space. The only minor issue are the steep steps to enter the inn as you must be very careful both walking up and down the stairs.

We had a terrible experience at this property. When we got there with a baby and a 4 year old, the host said we can´t stay because kids were not allowed, she wasn´t even being nice and comprehensive, like if it was our fault. The expedia information said: kids welcome. She told us to cancel the booking, we agreed as long as she arrange a new place for us, at the end she didn´t so she said we can stay. We felt very uncomfortable the whole stay, like if we were doing something wrong. In general we didnt enjoy our trip to Nantucket for this bad experience. I do not recommend this place at all!

Inn was quaint and pleasant. Enjoyed breakfasts with other guests. Did not like having to carry luggage to third floor or small size of bathroom.

Great location, far enough from the town center to be quiet but close enough for an easy stroll.
The continental breakfast was nice. Plenty of pastries, fruit, granola, etc. Hot chocolate was available for those who don’t drink coffee or tea. Cookies are set out in the afternoon.
You must enjoy a sunrise from the widow’s walk. Looking out over the lighthouse and Harbor was breathtaking.
I stayed in Room 1 on the first floor right next to the front door. The bedroom door could be a little more sturdy with a more secure lock and sound proofing around the edges. The posting said there was onsite parking and this is not the case. Not a huge deal for off season travelers but was inconvenient when I decided to rent a car for one day to explore the entire island.
This was my first time visiting Nantucket and I can’t wait to go back. If Martin House Inn is available, I would gladly stay there again.

Positive side: pretty house with good location, nice room, good breakfast, excellent housekeeping/chamber servers. Down side: massive construction outside the house on the road until June (obviously not their fault, but it is there and quite loud and unappealing!) Worst part is they did not make it clear in any way, shape or form (other than some purportedly hidden “link” in the webpage) that our room had a shared bathroom! Only found out when we got there since the confirmation itself had no indication AT ALL. We were told this “uncalibrated expectation” has been a problem in the past (including with the prior owners of the inn), so why this has not been properly dealt with in some way is beyond me; it isn’t rocket science. Having a very long history in coming to Nantucket (I actually helped manage one years ago and owned a home there at one point — I know the island well!), the expectation is that your room WILL have a bathroom UNLESS TOLD OTHERWISE! To say we were told because there was some obscure link on a webpage is ridiculous, so we had to pay extra once we got there for an en suite bedroom. It may not be an intended bait-and-switch (and I don’t believe it is) but it WILL come across that way — intended or not — if it isn’t handled properly.

An absolutely amazing stay! From the breakfasts each morning to chatting with fellow guests on the porch. This is truly the quintessential B&B experience. The Innkeeper also was so attentive and knowledgeable about Nantucket! The location also can't get any better as you are a short scenic walk from the action of the town. My next trip to Nantucket will surely include a stat at the Martin House Inn!

One of the best weekend trips we’ve had. The fireplace was so romantic. We had our own porch for morning coffee and fresh air. Shower with robes was wonderful. What an adventurous house to explore all the nooks and crannies. I felt like a kid crawling up to a treehouse to the widows walk. Beautiful views and gardens. The innkeeper was so attentive to anything we needed.

We stayed in room 2. Room was nice & comfortable. We were offered an upgrade which was nice - we however chose to stay in room we booked. Breakfast was good. Location was great, but parking was a bit tricky & couldn't imagine trying to park when it's not off season. Recommend going up to the widows walk - although you will have to climb up stairs that are more like a ladder to get up there so might be difficult for some.

historic feel, beautiful interior. Shower pressure was strong!

We were just on the island for an overnight and wanted something close to town where we could crash. Martin House checked all the boxes in that regard AND the extra added bonus was the Widow's Walk! Exceptional views of the harbor. Will stay again

Inn keeper seemed very annoyed when guests would ask for various things; ie 2 guests checked in late one afternoon and just wanted some hot tea. They were told that coffee is served in the am, so the Inn keeper Cindy seemed annoyed when she had to go make them some upon their arrival. In the am, coffee wasn't served until 7:30am which I think is a bit late. Self-serve coffee and tea should be put out at 6:30/7 for the early risers.
Overall the property was very clean and quaint - good location to walking back to the Main St area. The room we had with 2 twin beds was SMALL - not even barely enough room to even get around the beds. Bathroom was shared out in the hallway, which wasn't in any of the info when we booked. I would give this stay a 2.5.

Lovely period house with beautifully renovated features.
A self serve breakfast was not expected but certainly acceptable. We were on the 3rd floor which was somewhat challenging but doable. Management and staff were very helpful and pleasant.

An amazing place to stay. Great location. Extremely clean and friendly. They make you feel like you’re at home.
