Loved the location! This is the perfect place if you just want to get away from the day-to-day and relax. You don't need to go anywhere because everything is right there for you.

The calm, the hotel in itself, the onsen, the amazing food and warming staff. The rooms were amazingly big for Japan and the view was breathtaking. If you spend a few days it might be good to have a car.
We wish we could have stayed longer

The buffet spreads were fabulous

Great dinner and onsen

View of room is good, most of rooms face river
Food is terrible, dinner is buffet but very low quality. I stay 2 nights, the second night we paid extra to change to kaiseki, but they just pick the food from buffet and set beautifully on the table!

Nice spacious room (we had a Japanese room), nice dining room with a lot of options at the buffet, good quality of the food. Very nice outdoor onsen right next to the river so you can see and hear the river. Nice changing area. Good value for the money, we would definitely go there again.
Nothing to mention, all good.

Food here is good. Great selection and quality. Great for Vegans too ~ alot of great, quality Japanese Vegan foods at dinner and breafast. Onsen is outstanding too. As a family of 4 we enjoyed it alot
Room is old and tacky, but view outside of room , plus Onsen and Dining made up for that negative

Food was good, lots of variety at the buffet. But still rather crowded.
Baths are actually very nice, by a big running river.
Nice view from the room.
Rooms were clean.
Staff offered and drove me to the bus station for free. I wish I knew they provided this service beforehand.
*Perhaps the crowds were due to golden week holidays, I cannot comment on other periods as this is the time I went.
Far too many visitors crowd the limited facilities, making it a very poor experience for those who are looking for a quiet getaway. Much of the crowd appear to be day-trip visitors, many of whom are families, which makes it feel like staying guests are not valued, especially given the high price per night despite rather standard rooms.
I was not comfortable using the lounge with free drinks at all as it was packed full throughout the day.
I was only finally able to use the baths comfortably late at night when it's finally closed to day trippers. I only knew this after I noticed the low peak hours posted on the wall in the bath itself. Disappointing that the staff at the front counter were not able to give me this information when I asked during check-in.
As many have said, the walls are also thin so you can hear your neighbours. Luckily people were quiet so there was no issue, but I could hear the sound of conversations now and then.

- Staff are friendly and accommodating. There was a slight language barrier, but the front desk attendant used Google Translate =D.
- The Japanese style rooms are very spacious.
- You can rent a private bath(onsen) for a great price! This is needed if you have tattoo's!
- The dinners and breakfasts are wonderful, but can be very filling! Make sure you are hungry!
- The shop on the ground floor is stocked full of great things and perfect for souvenirs and snacks.
- There is an alcohol vending machine in the lobby!
- The scenery is beautiful.
- The lounge had a lot of great selections for alcohol at night and the self-playing piano was lovely.
- I was taken to the bus station by a hotel employee because the trains stopped running due to an earthquake. Thank you!
- The rooms are not very soundproof. I could hear people in the hall and next door.
- I wish there were vending machines on each floor for easy access.
- The train to the hotel does not run very often. It is more convenient to catch a bus from Morioka.
