Great location, very quiet, super comfortable bed and pillows. Parking requires a smaller car , our SUV was very hard to fit in the underground paid hotel parking and the garage has no outlet at the end, had to back out up ramp to find a spot.

We could hardly move around the queen beds. However it was a nice stay.

A friend and I traveled to Portland for a concert down the road. The hotel staff were very welcoming and kind. The room was clean, comfortable and made us feel safe in an unfamiliar area. I would definitely choose this hotel again if we take another trip to the Portland area! Lots of great places to check out within walking distance. The parking garage is a little tight, but I'm very thankful that I was able to park my car there to get it off the street!

I love this older hotel. So much charm. Its in a great downtown location. I had a terrible night sleep. The mattress and pillows are awful. So much pain. But i will stay here again.

This was our second time staying here and it feels like it is in decline. The first room had broken glass on the floor when we checked in. They promptly moved us to a similar (but smaller) room with no real attempt to check that we were satisfied. You have to call for cleaning and you have to ask for coffee supplies. It just feels very budget now and it didn't feel that way before. I'm hopeful things will improve with time. Same for the neighborhood, last time around it seemed very safe now not as much, definitely have to keep on high alert in the area.

Overall very ok. Hotel was clean, and friendly staff. Room was ready early which was convenient.
The bed was more comfortable than many other hotel beds, which was a pleasant surprise. The shower was clean, but the water pressure was the absolute worst I’ve ever experienced anywhere. I understand high efficiency shower heads, but this shower was downright useless. Couldn’t have gotten less wet if I tried.

End of an era for staying at this hotel! No breakfast offered Monday/Tuesday, no security at the front entrance and I literally dodged piles of human excrement outside. And no USB chargers. Skip the value and upgrade to another spot for a safer stay.

Shower was stupid and didn’t have a full door. Parking was expensive and extremely tight.

The hotel was great! Clean, comfortable. Spacious room. And walkable from the train station. But poor Portland. The tents and the garbage and the zombie people put a big damper on our enjoyment of the downtown area. Stay at the Mark Spencer if you have to go to downtown Portland. But don't go to downtown Portland just for fun.

It was a good value and in a lovely area.

Heat didn't perform. I had to wear a coat in the room.
The elevator from the garage to the hotel was out of order. So was one of two elevators that serve the whole hotel. Many delays ensued.
The espresso bar was quite poor.
Bad experience.

I had stayed there about 20 years ago and it was a mediocre at best. Not sure when they did the remodeling but now the rooms and public spaces are beautiful. Staying there again next month.

This hotel is very old. Not to my style. Front desk manager was nice but other front desk personnel are not as helpful.

The Mark Spencer hotel took us in when we got a rare blizzard and lost power, heat, hot water, etc. for days. They were delightful and truly looked out for all of us who needed to get out of homes when they became unlivable. Every day there was uncertainty to our plans and they were super flexible with us! The location is perfect for out of towners and in towners - we loved walking over to Powells and then out for drinks to take our minds off of the situation. It was like a mini-staycation.

The hotel is beautiful and very quiet. I arrived late: the staff was helpful and accommodating. Great shopping and even better dining located within close walking distance of the hotel. I will stay here again.

Very nice place! Older building, but many modern features. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom had plenty of room, kitchenette was also very handy.
When our flight out was cancelled and we had to spend an extra day, the staff was very helpful and accommodating.
My only complaints? The wi-fi was sketchy - disconnected alot. And the TV didn't allow connections to the streaming services.

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. It was wonderful to greeted and offered a glass of wine or coffee. Loved our room, spacious and clean. Many walkable restaurants and shops. Would stay there again.

The carpet was dirty, and the room smelled really bad like moldy wood.

The Mark Spencer has been my go to hotel in downtown Portland. Its central location makes it easy to walk around and explore downtown, the rooms are updated and comfortable, and you get a local experience instead of the normal cookie cutter chain hotel vibe. The staff is always helpful and charming.

This hotel was a great find. We loved the wine & cheese happy hour and being able to walk around the city. It was listed as breakfast included but it wasn’t since covid, they did give a voucher when we asked about that though. Only drawback was all our windows opening to front entrance on 1st floor and only blackout curtains. We couldn’t get daylight in the morning without welcoming everyone a view into our room.

Home away from home when in Portland.

Had to wait until 4:00pm to check in when our bus arrived at the 11:15am. Super tiring

The sleeper sofa was not sleepable. There were stains on the chairs and floor. Smelled old and musty. The staff was nice. Pictures were way better than reality.

Super cute hotel, with friendly staff and nice flourishes. The fitness center is lacking, but I gave it some love the first night and then walked to a not-at-all-far and spacious 24-hour fitness the next few days.

First thing you must do is use the lobby toilet. It will be the highlight of your trip.
Staff was helpful, location was great, room was huge, and the hotel was nice. I’d be happy to stay again.
