Basic motel type accomodation. Facilities are OK - nice coffee in the morning and pool is well above average for this type of motel. Rooms are a different situation. Very dark with minimal lighting - and bath light was burned out. Bed is terrible - huge, but LUMPY and soft and sheets are too big so lying in messy lumpy wrinkled platform. Shampoo etc is fine but world's tiniest soap - like a quarter but thinner.

Room was very clean. Pool area was nice and enjoyable. Really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evenings.

I loved everything about this place. It was clean, well appointed and the retro vibe was just awesome. The people working there couldn't have been nicer.

Pros:
• Checkin is easy and fast.
• Room is clean.
Cons:
• Very low pressure on shower.
• Bed sheet is not clean.

Everything was great! Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Room was clean and comfortable other than my mattress that sagged on my side. I also had to shut the air conditioning off before bed because I could not get it to stop blasting cold air all night (the room temp was comfortable with the AC off).
My room included two free drinks at the bar downstairs which my husband loved. We also stayed for the karaoke which was a lot of fun.
There are good restaurant and shopping options nearby, and Lido Beach is less than 10 miles away. We'll be back next year.

This is an older hotel but well kept. Remember you are paying a pretty decent rate when you stay here. Beds are nice. Pool is nice. Rooms are clean. They have a tiki hut that seems lively some nights and heard people having fun just not something we had time for. I highly recommend this hotel. I would come back for sure.

The room was updated and clean and the bed was comfortable (perhaps a bit soft for my taste but hubby loved it). Only complaint is that there was no closet or even a hanging rod somewhere for hanging clothes.
Loved the attached Tiki Bar with live music and strong drinks!

I have nothing positive to say about this property. The staff is not helpful. Rooms are old and not very clean. It’s loud. Beds come with two pillows, bathroom two towels, and you can hear everything from neighboring rooms as well as upstairs. Spend more and stay somewhere decent.

The pool area is great, albeit next to the highway. Thw room smelled musty/moldy and all of my belongings along with it. The floor in the bedroom was so dirty my feet were black. The bed was comfortable.

Pleasant surprise when we got into the room, it looks recently renovated and everything was clean, new, well maintained overall. Will use again and recommend for sure!

we really didn't love the hotel
the bar is really loud
the accessible room we stayed in wasn't very nice either.
we paid more to be by the pool.
the bathroom door was a sliding barn door that didn`t operate properly and had huge gaps.no handle on the inside of the door.
we really liked the manager Katrina, she was nice, helpful and gave us a refund when we left early to find a quieter hotel.

Pillows should be replaced. Underneath door should have a seal across it. Is was clean as any other hotel, very old, but they did well on the upgrades of what they could. Good stay.

We loved the totems and the general vibe of the resort.

For the price, you won’t find a better hotel in the area.

Manager and staff were the best. Helpful in every way. Accommodations great. Will return and recommend to others.

The bathroom definitely needs to be redesigned and tiles Deep cleaned and trim painted The shower curtain wasn’t t long enough to keep the water from going outside of the shower Also there wasn’t enough hand towels on hand when we checked in. Housekeeping is only offered on certain days which is a bummer but has become the norm for the industry these days😥. Otherwise room was spacious and clean and the pool so nice and warm

Good decent hotel/ motel. Nothing amazing. Room was clean. Not updated. Hardley any tv channels. But for a clean bed. It worked

Overall our stay was good. Location was perfect for our needs. Room was clean and beds were very comfy. Love the vinyl floor rather than carpet!

The room was sprayed with some sort of "freshener " that was causing us a bit of allergic reaction. The pillows smelled like bleach. There was no real room darkening because there is nothing to civer the 2 rectangular windows next to the door. We had to stuff 2 pillows up there to sleep. The AC was noisy. Outside the steps up were filthy. It should be cleaned and painted. We had to ask twice to have there sleep sofa cover replaced. Later my cousin opted to drive back to Tampa versus stay because he feared bed bugs on the sleep sofa. So, we paid $300 for one of the worst hotel rooms Ive stayed in and in years! Had we known, we too would have canceled and just driven back to St. Petersburg.
Get rid of that horriblr smell, in the room, lobby and even the bar.

They would not clean your room unless you asked and then when they finally did, all they did was give us towels did not clean the room at all. Parking was hard to get .

The bookings website states that one can check-in at 3PM. I didn't find this to be the case. The day I checked-in, the room wasn't ready until close to 4:30PM. The mattress in our room was very uncomfortable. For what the room rate was, I expected much better. Kind of a dated building with tiny bathrooms. Flooring and furniture was decent, though.

We were placed in a room on the second floor that was directly across from their tiki hut bar. The noise was awful, coming in through the ill-fitting door and windows. Didnt sleep a wink. The safety chain on the door was broken. The air conditioning unit did not work when we checked in. The toilet intermittently would not flush. The vending machines in the lobby did not work and we were unable to get a bottle of water. Truly an awful experience. When we asked to change rooms we were told they could not accommodate us because we had booked on Hotels com. Totally unpleasant staff. We would like a refund.

After our 3 night stay we decided that the Golden Host was 'adequate'.
Pros: comfortable and clean beds, friendly front desk staff, great location, felt very safe.
Cons: the room furnishings were very worn and in need of a deep clean, the shower was only lukewarm for 2 of 4 showers, and the lobby coffee was cold or empty by 8a every morning.
Overall- adequate, not terrible but not great

Easy checkin/ out process. Room accommodations were good - room needs additional lighting - a light on either side of bed not enough for the size of the room. No type of closet to hang up clothes. And no hooks in bathroom to hang clothes on either. Also need a door handle on inside of bathroom door (barndoor style) as hard to shut. Second year we’ve stayed here - could see some upgrades by the pool that were nice. Love retro look of refrigerator and microwave.

Very clean and neat. Just as an FYI, it's a 20 minute drive to the nearest beach, Lido Beach. I loved Lido Beach. It has free parking and a true beach snack bar. It also has beer and wine for sale.

I was in Sarasota for a symphony concert at Van Wezel, so the Golden Host was very conveniently located. I had a celebratory glass of bubbly prior to the concert at the Bahi Hut, and a glass of wine there afterwards to end the evening. The room was comfy and quiet. Thank you!

Overall we had a fine stay at this hotel. The room was subpar with cleanliness when you pay attention to the stains visible in several areas and cracking in the corners of the walls in the bathroom which appear to be starting to mold. Which also seems to be the cause of the musty smell in the rooms (this is something I’ve dealt with regularly so it doesn’t bother me as much as others). We only stayed one night, but we really enjoyed the outdoor areas and pool-the cabanas were awesome to have and it’s decorated very nicely outside and at the tiki bar.

When we arrived at 5 our room wasn't ready because of a"housekeeping" issue. They gave us a voucher for 2 free drinks at the bar but we could only choose from 2 drinks. They said they would bring us our key when the room was ready should be 20 minutes. After an hour we went back to ask and yes our room was ready. There was water all over the bathroom floor and trash in the ice bucket and only 1 wash rag.

When booking it said there was a restaurant on site. There was only a bar that served frozen appetizers. Entrance was difficult to get in.

A beautiful place to stay in Sarasota Trina, Destiny, & Smiling beautiful Brei helped in anyway they could to make out Stay an enjoyable one
Also everyone in housekeeping that we asked for a towel toothbrush or if we can have assistance with they all are fabulous!
We bought three more nights through Expedia instead of leaving the area we went to Siesta key beach and Lido beach
There is a lot to see and do in the area
You will not be disappointed!!

The pool area is nice, front desk staff was nice. Sheets on the bed were damp and struggled getting them changed. When they did get changed a black bug was in them. I broke up one argument myself between someone staying there and another guy who wasn’t, guessing a drug deal. 20 minutes later the cops showed up for something else and were in the parking lot for 20 minutes. This isn’t in the safest location. Light in the parking lot flickered like a Halloween flasher that the curtains wouldn’t shut out along with the heater in the room making weird noises made sleeping not easy. I have video that I wish I could post. Getting out of the parking lot is nuts, the traffic is like an interstate. You have to turn right and then do a u-turn if you want to go south.

There was a large cockroach in our room. There were cigarette butts on the patio table outside the patio door. Was hard to get the humidity out of the room. Difficult to access the entrance drive off highway 41 when approaching from the south.

Centrally located . Nice pool area. Oldest tiki bar in the state of Florida is on site.
No elevator. 2 flight walk up. Coffee machine broken.
