Our room had windows that opened. It was on a corner so a lot of light in the day with black out drapes at night. Very nice stay. The only thing I could mention is it’s a walk up. So stairs are present.

Only a quick overnight visit but the stay was wonderful. Nice clean, comfy room and fabulous staff.

Amazing stay at the Sohotel. Great for our family of 5. Lots of room, funky decor and lots of spots for photo opps. Little Italy around the corner where you can have the best pasta!

We booked the family room. There were 2 queen beds and a twin bed in the room. There only enough room to sleep in the room.

There is no elevator. You must walk up a flight to access the lobby/check in. Our room was fine, big enough for 2. We didn’t use housekeeping so won’t comment on that. Staff were polite. Many Asian and Italian restaurants nearby.

Expedia has this property rated as a 4 star. It is not. It is a 3 star as per their own website. We booked a "junior suite" for 3 times the price of a regular room. It was just a regular room. THERE IS NO ELEVATOR. Our room turned out to be on the 4th floor. The gentleman who checked us in offered to help with our bags and then disappeared. No staff really visible or available during our stay. No phones in rooms, so to try to contact the front desk, you use your phone to call the main number. No coffee in rooms. No robes, no slippers, no q-tips, no duvet covers, no housekeeping unless you request it (we did not). Decor is Love Island meets 1980's Goth, but not in a good way. Really dim lighting hiding a lot of chipped paint/deferred maintenance. Our bathroom was nice and I liked the underfloor heating, but no soap dishes are provided so when you open a soap it is just soggy, sticky on the sink. The black "grout" between the tiles in the shower came off on my washcloth. The shampoo/conditioner and body wash are good quality.
There is TV, gets about 12 chanels. The TV guide does not work, but it was fairly easy for us to "cast" from our phones and tablets.

I didn’t appreciate that there was no elevator. Also would have liked the option of an electronic key and a key pass. Was not given an option and having just the electronic key was a problem.

The place is decorated super cute, is totally clean, and beds are comfy! Location is super walkable to tons of restaurants and bars. Everyone was super friendly and helpful! They also had an amazing tea bar in the lobby with so many different varieties. Would stay here again for sure!

Nice clean room at a great price in a great location with all the basic amenities, but building does not have elevator.

I enjoyed my stay here! The room was a tiny bit small for 4 people (stayed in the standard 2 queen room) and the property looked good, you can tell everything isn't like brand new but that's cool with me. Not in a quiet area, I would stay here if you're going out in the city, but maybe not with kiddos. I would come back. Staff was really nice.

The area has loads to explore highly recommend

Restored historic property with hardwood floors/ furniture and brick walls. Guests must be able to climb some stairs but it’s a charming historic building.

Everything was great. The staff was accommodating and helpful, the room was immaculate, and they made my stay a breeze.

The location & hotel design are impeccable, but the service is severely lacking. I booked this hotel based on the “valet parking for $75/night” and that is completely inaccurate as told to me, quite rudely, by the front desk staff. They blamed hotel.com and directed me to a lot 3 blocks away—unaffiliated & uncovered, which came to over $100. Also, I had arrived pretty early—around 11—and understandably couldn’t check in. However, I had seen a loong line of people checking out so when I came back at 3, just one hour before check-in, I was told my room still wasn’t ready. This hotel is pretty, clean & in a great location, but I would not recommend if you want to experience TRUE hospitality.

The hotel has a great website. We got into our room on the main floor and it was a closet. The bathroom was tiny and very dated and unpractical. The heat did not work in our room and they said they could not fix until the next day. We left after one night of our 4 night stay and asked for a refund.

I’ll say that everyone working at this hotel was so perfectly lovely and helpful EXCEPT for the gentleman with glasses at the front desk who was the most absolutely unprofessional and rude person I’ve encountered in recent memory. I had called and requested and confirmed early check in the day prior to my stay as we were traveling with 4 children including an infant who needed to be fed and changed. The hotel did not have it on record at our arrival. Instead of helping, this man began screaming at me and “refused service,” walking away and leaving us at the front desk with no direction or resolution until another kind employee stepped in and resolved the situation in mere minutes. It was a totally bizarre encounter. We will not return or recommend this hotel.

The Sohotel is in East Village in the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. What I did not like about the hotel is that it does NOT have an elevator and there are no telephone / intercoms in the rooms. I did NOT appreciate the receptionist who would not give me a dental kit and kept asking me to buy one from the vending machine. And then she gave me a dental kit with a busted toothpaste tube. Hotel dental kits are basic and if you can’t give me that without a fight I am not coming back to you again.
They do not provide any type of lotion. The rooms have super dim lighting, and there is a constant hissing sound from the ancient radiator heating systems in the room. It is disturbing and you will definitely be bothered by it.

Great small boutique hotel in NYC! Close to subway! Extremely nice and helpful staff on arrival and departure!!! Room was great and very very large for NYC. I would definitely stay here again. Perfect for a girls trip!!!

Location is a little sketchy but central to everything. Lobby and common areas nice. Room was “tired”. It was effectively a queen bed and twin jammed into a room with no closet; laminate flooring was pulling up. Staff was friendly.

Mold in shower, bugs in room, no elevator, no cleaning, musty smell. General feeling of disrepair. Will not be staying there again.

Rooms much smaller than advertised. No elevators!!!! Restaurant hours not correct. A/C did not work. Lighting fixtures was a maze to figure out. Toilets are extra small tound bowl, they are not close to the standard round bowl.

Only issue I had was that it's stated they had valet parking for 75 dollars. It turns out they do not have this option. Other then that nice hotel

Great hotel with tons of dining options within a couple of blocks. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the bed was very hard and uncomfortable so I didn’t sleep much.

Historic site revitalized to spend a weekend in NYC. Cozy and well appointed hotel located within walking distance of dozens of restaurants, night life and NYU.
