The young ladies that work there are the friendliest. They go out of their way to take care of your every need. Sad that there were no ghostly experiences this trip. Will see you our next trip north.

Everybody was friendly I mean everyone was friendly. I would say this was my favorite place to go to. Loved the history of the building our room was awesome, the old tile, the old furniture, everything. We had a view of the river. Go up top of the building and have a drink and enjoy the scenery

I was in town to see the Kansas concert at the People's Bank Theater and to play some area Disc Golf courses. I usually just drive by Marietta on my home from somewhere when I'm traveling, but this trip I parked the car next to the river (Hotel's parking lot) and walked everywhere I wanted to go. The Hotel was very memorable, the views, the obiance, the older furniture, the sound of someone playing the piano in the dining area was welcoming, the old style bar (made a few new friends), the breakfast in the gun room. I forgot my phone charger at home and the hotel clerk was able to find one for me (TY soooo much!!).

A wonderful change of pace from your normal chain hotel. My only regret is not paying the extra $5 for river view. Next time I need to be in Marietta, this is where I'll stay.

Stopped for one night as part of a longer trip. I like unique hotels, so The Lafayette was right up my alley. Got there too late to take advantage of the restaurant and/or bar, but my check-in was quick and the people/staff were very nice - they even called me to make sure I still planned on being there that night. Beautiful location right on the river, beautiful old hotel. Room, bathroom, and shower were quite small, but, hey, it was only me so no big deal. Bed was comfortable, wi-fi was superb, and parking was right on site and free.

Even though the town is partially flooded the hotel is comfortable and the restaurant has tasty food

Enjoyed the vintage charm and history.Breakfast was very good.

I was supposed to have a king parlor room, but instead had a queen bed room with no space.

The first room we were in was gorgeous the bed felt like cloud and it was so cozy. The ceiling in the bathroom caved in so they moved us into a different room that was bigger, but the bed was so rough and we could not sleep and it turned into not so relaxing stay. Probably won't stay again

Wonderful decor great food and good service

The room was small and smelled musty I booked a king and got a queen and I was with my daughter so the accommodations were unacceptable

Well decorated with friendly staff and a good view of the River

We always enjoy staying at the Lafayette, because it's walking distance to a lot of downtown restaurants and shops. Also close to area attractions.

I tried both beds as neither one was very comfortable. There was a sag in both and probably need to be replaced. Housekeeping staff were friendly. The front desk tried to be helpful but it was like pulling teeth. The bar tender was a bit gruff. The food was good. If you want history, this is the place to stay. My room overlooked the Ohio river and that is why I came to Marietta.

Very close and within walking distance of town

We enjoyed our stay at the Lafayette, and truly plan to return soon. While some areas of the hotel could use a refresh, we found it part of the charm of this historic gem. Our room was clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. We enjoyed walking through and seeing the different artifacts, learning about the history of the building and Marietta. Dinner in the Riverfront Bar & Grille was delicious, as was our breakfast in the The Gun Room.

A charming step back in time hotel in a beautiful small city on the Ohio & Muskingum Rivers.

The mattress was awful. It had no support and was like being sucked into a sink hole. Neither of us were able to sleep.

The stay was great but you could hear a lot of outside noise

The staff was friendly and had everything setup in our room on arrival for our anniversary. We enjoyed our time at the Lafayette.

The history of the property with River boat era was very interesting. The restaurant food was amazing and the feeling of going back in time was fun. They have a restaurant, bar and even had live entertainment. The management might want to have a few more people in staff as service was slow. Elevator is scary and don't think it's a good option for someone with mobility issues
3.0
Elevator wasn't working and wasn't told til after we checked in. Our room was on the fifth floor. So of course we felt trapped. Also when checking out they had me in 2 different rooms plus said I had 2 reservations also and my stay was for more than one day. It was a mess. I hope I'm not double billed

A very cool historic hotel. Clean. Great food. Excellent service. In fact, another out of town friend just stayed there three weeks ago and they loved it. My concerns are specific to Room 511 ( King Suite ). The internet connection was bad. I was disconnected around 20 times, and the signal was weak. The drain in the sink & tub were s-l-o-w. No refrigerator or microwave. Other that, it was a good experience.

Of the 7 hotels I stayed out all over Ohio, this one has the absolute best view! I reserved one type of room but when I asked for a river view they put me into a different room. When I saw the view I was pleased. I happened to check Expedia and saw the room I was in was WAY cheaper online so I called Expedia and it was a total hassle to get the refund. Back to the room, it was small and definitely showed signs of age. I had a guest with me and we were a little hesitant on how small the beds were but it ended up being fine. I appreciated the washer and dryer available so I could do a load easily. We had breakfast and it was very standard, but good service and affordable. Overall 4/5. The price was so good I was stoked about that. Just wish the Expedia refund process wouldn’t have been such a nightmare.

Stay there often like the ambiance and proximity to dining and river

The Lafayette is a historical hotel with all the charm of a 1800s river boat hotel, the staff was very helpful and the location is great if you wish to explore downtown Marietta. However, some of the modern conveniences are absent such as central air, microwaves and refrigerators in the room. It was explained to me the electrical infrastructure was not able to handle it. Personally it didn't matter to me as the location was perfect for me.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Lafayette. Such a charming and inviting place. Every staff member we encountered were pleasant and efficient. If you're looking for a huge, sumptuous room this might not be for you. But, if you love history and true old time ambience, this is the place. Convenient to shops and restaurants and sporting a gorgeous view of the river, it didn't disappoint. Great place!

If you love historical buildings, this is the place to go!! Very rich history. Lots of fun things to look at and the architecture is stunning.
Dinner at the River was magnificent. Everything was superb.
Breakfast was wonderful.
Because this is a historical site, and it is old, expect smaller rooms, older style bathrooms. They are very clean but it is old fashioned. Antique furnishings are well maintained and are abundant.
I would definitely stay again.

We love the Lafayette! It's a beautiful historic building with lots of ambiance. They say it's haunted by friendly ghosts that just try to make you comfortable, but we've yet to see any! We'll continue to stay at the Lafayette whenever we're in the area. Try it. You won't be disappointed!
