About this house rental
Nestled in Oxnard, this charming house for $940 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Known to locals & historians as The Windy Gables. (Clark Gable is known to have lived here.) Our enchanted property is steeped in both charm & comfort. This 2 story home right on the beach offers direct access to a wide, white stretch of sand and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Hollywood Beach is a safe, quiet community of 'locals' & regular renters. There's plenty of room on the sand for family fun, long walks, romantic dinners or star-gazing after some of the best sunsets on the California coast. Our two-story summer house can be your writer's retreat or—with beds for up to 8, plus a few comfy couches—can be your family's favorite year-round get-away. The warm living room and family room feature cozy fireplaces. The formal dining area & breakfast nook open right onto the deck for beach/ocean views at every meal. Our newly updated kitchen is located just off the family room for spectacular views (& an eye on the kids) while cooking. Hardwood & marble floors, cable TV & Wi-fi throughout. A master suite with ocean-facing balcony on the 2nd floor will let you sleep to the sound and fresh breeze off the Pacific Ocean. Walking: Only a couple of blocks to Mrs. Olsen's for breakfast or lunch, shops in the Harbor Village, paddle boarding & kayaking, and a local Farmers' Market every Sunday. A short drive to charter boats & tours of the Channel Islands (known as 'the Galapagos of the California Coast'). Activities include kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, sailing, surfing, mountain biking & hiking on the islands, beach cruising our tiny town or along the beach paths, or just sitting by the hotel pool (up the coast a short distance) with a chilled drink in hand. Once you're here, get great sushi, fish n' chips, pizza or BBQ within 1-2 miles; other restaurants, stores, and amenities of Oxnard & Victoria; shop the outlet malls of Camarillo; enjoy the movies, tacos & sports bars in communities nearby. Less than an hour: The restaurants & shopping & beaches of Malibu, Santa Monica & Santa Barbara. You can be back in Los Angeles in an hour. # Important Information about Our Property: OCCUPANCY • The allowable number of overnight guests: 8 • Daytime capacity for visitors & other guests: 12-14 NOISE • This property is not available for Events of any kind that exceed these limits OR that violate Quiet Hours. • Please do not violate local Noise Standards or other local regulations while you are renting with us. • Please observe QUIET HOURS in our neighborhood from 10PM to 7AM. • This means No Outdoor Music, no use of Outdoor Speakers, or other amplified sounds (during Quiet Hours). Perfect beach house to enjoy surf and sand with family. We only left the house one evening for fish and chips during our four night trip - the rest of the time we simply relaxed on the back deck taking in all that Hollywood beach had to offer.

Lovely welcome by the host - Wine and fresh flowers. Place was clean and welcoming. Furniture is comfortable and beach and baby friendly. Great location. Highly recommend for a family stay.

Our grandson graduated high school and because we had such a great time 4 years ago at Windy Gables, that’s what he asked for. It did NOT disappoint!!

This house was magical. The location was right on a beach that was not busy. The beach itself was sandy and beautiful without any trash. The master bedroom looked out at the ocean with a balcony to sit and enjoy the view. The rest of the house was also very nice and comfortable. We had a great time, and would definitely recommend this place to others!

The house was great, the location awesome, the beach, although public is basically private. It's really tucked away on Hollywood Beach walking distance to restaurants and bars. Check out Rudder Room!

So my wife and I can come back, again and again, and again.
I WISH it wasn't on the most vacant beach in Southern California. I WISH there wasn't a piece of trash for miles. I WISH the THREE fireplaces weren't so warm and inviting, I WISH the whole house didn't grab you by the lapels and yell RELAX, you FOOL every time you stepped into the place, because then OTHER PEOPLE wouldn't want to come here and reconnect with the stars and each other as my wife and I did this last weekend. (did I mention walking-distance restaurants?)

We were having our yearly fly-in somewhere and have a visit. Sisters, aunt and niece. Very beachy vibe to the house. The pictures don’t do it justice. It is a lot roomier than it looks, with different areas to break out to for conversations. Nice and neat neighborhood. We could hear the ocean oil derrick pumping platform at night with the window cracked. Not sure if that is all the time. Not terrible, just something to know. Super convenient location. Easy drives to Ojai, Ventura, Santa Barbara.

Perfect little getaway on the beach! We didn’t have the best weather but loved sitting by the fire and being together. The location is fantastic and we walked to restaurants/coffee/marina almost daily. Very comfortable beds and the house had a very cool, old charm to it. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We had a lovely stay on this property. It definitely needs some attention though. We had to clean sand out of the home and off the patio upon our arrival. The patio was completely covered, so was unable to use until we cleaned. None of the remotes for tvs, fireplaces, etc worked. Trash cans were full when we arrived, so had to take our trash somewhere else. Ant problem in the dining room. These were not game changers, but very disappointing given the expense of our stay.

First I must say that my out of town family members who stayed at your property had a fabulous time and of course being right on the beach is the best part!
That being said, there were a few things that I felt were not up to par.... 1. The television never worked properly. It went on and off by itself, whenever it felt like it! 2. there were at least 4 outdoor chairs that were broken and not usable! 3. There were 2 bbqs on property, but the grills on them were rusted out and not usable! 4. One of my family said that the pillows and comforters did not smell clean! 5. Lastly, the outdoor spaces weren't very appealing, no landscaping, flowers, nothing! Not very appealing, just dirty tables and chairs!

Three old girlfriends together again at the seaside. This charming, sweet older updated beach house suits our needs perfectly. We enjoyed relaxing under patio umbrellas with a glass of wine, taking walks on the sand and always with the breaking waves and ebbing tide as harmonious accompaniment... enchanting.

The location of the home on the beach was amazing. Very private almost seemed like we had the beach to ourselves.
The home had some very charming aspects, but as with most beach houses there was some deferred maintenance. Plugs don't work in some locations. TV's hard to navigate, bring your passwords to access anything other than regular tv. Screen on slider totally destroyed in family room. that type of thing. It was still a great week.

This is our favorite vacation every year. We love it here and feel so blessed to be able to share such a beautiful location with our family. It’s the most chill area around. No crowds, no waits at any of the restaurants. Quick walk to the marina to paddle hoard. Small market across the street. Being able to be directly on the beach is incredible. The sunsets are the most beautiful out of any I have seen anywhere. Everything was wonderful and amazing per usual!

we've stayed at another couple locations inside the Hollywood beach community but this was by far the best location. Its only a couple blocks from the cafe and a few houses in from the public beach access. great beach with very few people (even on the weekends)

We loved it as soon as we walked in. It was accurate about being “Windy Gables”, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the beach, ocean and surrounding area. Definitely another stay can be had!

We had an amazing time at the Windy Gables beach home, what a great place to stay!! The house is bigger than the pictures portray, which was nice. You can't beat the location, right on the sand. We had the whole beach to ourselves, hardly saw any people in the 2 days we were there. This home has everything you need, well stocked and clean. The kids had a blast playing out front and flying Kites and making sand castles. I would recommend this beach house to anyone looking for an affordable and nice oceanfront getaway vacation.

I booked this house for my daughters 18th birthday and it was perfect. The views were incredible! It just happened to be on the windiest weekend EVER in SoCal, which was still fine, we are used to those winds. The owners were so nice, they actually let us stay a couple hours on Sunday to enjoy the beach without wind! Absolutely beautiful. I would love to rent again and stay for a longer time.
