Hotel Orkin...Buyer Beware!

The location to downtown Reykjavík is about 1 mile away. There were two hotel receptionists .. they were nice. They were aware I was displeased, but they also knew they could not do anything about it.

Room was dirty, the smell was rancid, shower curtain was filthy, the room was awful. The lack of customer service regarding complaints... they have your money with the prepayment they will have no incentive to help you.

I think an Iceland prison would be more comfortable

Car park free and available. Friendly staff.

The room facilities were too basic - no fridge, 1 small pillow, no phone to reception. The bed head light was positioned so you hit your head on it. I think an Iceland prison would be more comfortable.

Good

Even if the furniture is very old, the rooms are very clean. Free parking in front of the hotel. Good breakfast and good wi-fi.

Not so close to the city centre. The entire hotel looks very old and looks like it was stock in 80's.

Loved staying here

The hotel was well set up for families, was very clean, cozy beds, exceptional breakfast and very friendly helpful staff. Well situated. Our family loved it here

Pleasant, I will recomennd the hotel of my friends.

This was the first place we had a breakfast, so I can not compare, but it was completely enought. It was good that we had a coffee and cake in the afternoon what was unexpected but a good idea for relaxing after a long day. We were 5 persons and I had no idea how we arrange it. The two floors room make the space comfortable.

I have no suggestions, I think everything was OK. We were all day in the city and we did not need more.

Mediocre at best.

Breakfast was plentiful, and nice variety. 24 hour reception was convenient as I arrived after midnight, but as there was no second key I had to wake the others in my party to let me into the room!

The room, described as a loft was very small. It was impossible to get our suitcases up the stairs, so the more space was taken up in the downstairs area. Perhaps more accurate description would allow potential guests to make better decisions. They wanted to charge up $12 per day per piece to store our luggage, even though we had booked a second night on our return from our tour.

Affordable and great proximity with a nice morning breakfast.

I liked that our room had a loft for our boys to sleep in. Location was perfect to walk for a bite to eat or sightseeing. We arrived late in the evening and person at from desk was helpful and kind.

Lovely gem of a hotel

Breakfast was so good, I'm going to make Icelandic bread at home 🙂 Beds were comfy hotel was lovely warm and welcoming Staff were so nice and helpful We loved coffee and cake at 5pm ! Perfect location for us only 25 mins walk from the harbour or grab a bus

The location was quite convenient for taking the bus tour to see the Northern lights. Breakfast was good. Loved the free coffe and cake, saved our life.

Wonderful stay and a very good value!!

This was a little gem on a quiet street. Extremely family friendly- our kids (elementary school aged) enjoyed playing ping pong and foosball and they loved staying in the loft in our room! The breakfast had tasty and healthy options and the staff kept it well stocked and clean. The staff, by the way, was super friendly and wonderful all around. The afternoon cake, coffee, and tea were a very nice touch. Rooms were also clean and WiFi worked well. We happened to stay on NYE and also had wonderful views of the fireworks from our room after we came in from enjoying outdoor ones. The hotel is very close to a Bonus Supermarket if you want to pick up some snacks. Outdoor parking was nice and easy.

Nice hotel with really friendly staff. Rooms were comfortable, nice and warm! Breakfast was good too, plus free cake and drinks in the afternoon was very nice. Would recommend.

Great location, very friendly staff, great common area and breakfast, but room and decor very old.

The room was very old with several areas of water staining on ceiling, strange staining on one of the bed sheets, plumbing very loud from other rooms, strong sulpher smell outside window and with warm water usage, some of the pillows in room were too thin.

Great for a first night's stay in Reykjavik.

The Hotel Orkin was used as our first night's stay in Iceland. It was unremarkable, in the sense that there was absolutely nothing to complain about, but nothing to single it out as exceptional in any way. Certainly, I'd recommend it as a great place to stay on your first night in Iceland, but probably not for a longer holiday. Breakfast was fine, the staff were great, the room was standard and minimalistic.
