Your private retreat on the beach at Paradise Cove
About this house rental
Give yourself the gift of staying in one of the most beautiful locations in the world. The Paradise Cove house is set on its own secluded beach at Paradise Cove with breathtaking views of Rainbow Glacier and the snowcapped peaks of the Chilkat mountain range. Would you like to get away from the incessant chatter and demands of the 'outside' world? Here's a place where there is peace. The charming, rustic house is sided with hand-split cedar shakes. Inside, it is spacious and sunny. The open plan downstairs allows for a pleasant flow of spaces. It has a fully equipped kitchen and a dining room with an amazing view. A special feature of the house is that as well as the main house there is the attached annex with its light-filled sunroom. The main house and annex allow for separation for two parties or two families who are sharing the rental. The two newly remodeled bathrooms in the house offer modern fixtures. There is one bathroom in the main house and one in the annex, affording privacy for two parties sharing the house. The main house bathroom offers both a shower and a tub. The annex bathroom provides a shower with built-in seat. Upstairs in the main house there is a queen bed in the master bedroom. The smaller upstairs bedroom has both a queen bed and a single bed. The entire upstairs of the annex is a spacious bedroom with a queen sized bed, a rocking chair and a loveseat. Both the main house master bedroom and the annex bedroom have spectacular views. Two Pack n' Play baby beds are available to accommodate little ones. This is an Alaskan family house that is comfortable, spacious and well-heated, and offers all the amenities you need for an enjoyable stay. The primary attraction of the house is its location on a private beach many think is the most beautiful in the Haines area. You can fish from the beach in front of the house. If you bring your own sea kayak or rent one from a local company, you can launch from the beach and paddle down the peninsula to Chilkat Islands Marine Park. Children enjoy the opportunity to play and run barefoot on the large lawn or sit on the grass. You can also sit in the comfortable chairs provided on the lawn and enjoy the view, or barbecue outdoors using the large Weber grill. Beyond the lawn on the beach you can sit around the campfire, toast marshmallows, and watch for the marine mammals that swim in to the bay - seals, sea lions, our resident otters, porpoise, and even whales. Just over 6 miles from downtown Haines, Alaska, the Paradise Cove house is a five minute drive from the Chilkat State Park which has some of the best hiking trails in the area as well as a boat launch ramp. Children are welcome at the Paradise Cove house. Sorry, but we can't accommodate pets. To find the dates the Paradise Cove house is available that best work with your plans, please look at the calendar. It is updated regularly. Cancellations do occur, so if the dates you want show as booked, it's worth checking back to see if they have opened up. Please note that rent is $250/night for the first two people. For each additional guest the charge is $50/person/night. We are required by law to charge 8% tax. PLEASE NOTE: This property is in a rural residential zone. That means no large gatherings, weddings, reunions or parties can be held on the property. It is simply for you to enjoy as your home while you stay in the area.

Plenty of room. Everything we needed. Beautiful spot!

Upon our arrival our mouths dropped open from the view! This was our third trip to Alaska and this view was by far the best. Words cannot describe it! The directions were spot on, and we didn't have any trouble locating the property. The owners were very easy to communicate with and very quick to reply, they checked in to make sure we had everything we needed via text. The beds were super comfortable, with plenty of extra pillows and blankets, we also had great water pressure in the showers. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to make great meals at home. My husband bought a fishing pole in town and actually caught a small Halibut right on the rocky beach below the cabin. The drive to town was breathtaking and the people are the friendliest and most helpful. The saying is true, people come for the adventure and stay for the people. When they asked us where we were staying, we always received the same response, Nice! Halibut fish and chips at the Bamboo room and hamburgers at the 33 Mile Roadhouse were the best we've ever eaten. Bears in the early mornings at Chilkoot Lake was a treat and free! We also took a flight tour of Glacier Bay National Park with Mountain Flying Service, Paul the owner was fantastic, take the long tour, it's so worth it. We had a wonderful time, and I will have to break my own rule of not staying in the same place twice, for this I will happily make an exception, we will be back no doubt about it. The hosts were great throughout the entire process. Property is clean and well maintained, both inside and out. Great place to relax. We used the property as a home base for daily excursions, returning to "home" every night.
The view of Rainbow Glacier is awesome.

This house is perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful and relaxing stay in the Haines area. Watch bald eagles while sipping morning coffee. Enjoy the tranquility of the protected cove from the properties manicured lawn. Poke around the cottage style garden. View Rainbow glacier from one of the many picture windows. Space to sit and visit or play games in this vintage style country cottage.

A very well loved, homey country house in a strikingly beautiful setting, looking out on Mud Bay the mountains, and Rainbow Glacier—with a waterfall so powerful that even from far across the bay you can hear it from the yard. The house is perfectly situated close to hikes in the enchanted forests of beautiful Haines and a short drive from the town amenities(good local coffee roaster/organic grocer/local distillery/great pizza.) We appreciated the well stocked kitchen (not all VRBOs have all the necessary tools to make a good meal, and our host provided everything we needed.) Plus, we enjoyed the fresh organic greens from the garden. The bed was comfortable and the heating efficient. If you have to use the bathroom at night, be careful because the bathrooms are on the first floor and bedrooms are up steep flights of stairs. There is cool, authentic local roots music plus some vintage 60s/70’s sounds on cassette tape(!) that you can play on the working boom box. All in all, a perfect setting to just hang out and soak in the spectacular environment of Haines.

Beautiful view at Paradise Cove
The house has one of the best views that I’ve ever experienced. Glacier, mountains, otters, seals, porpoises and eagles could be seen every day. We quickly learned that a pair of eagles had their favorite trees to hang out in and would sometimes fly down in the beach in front of the house or just circle overhead.
The house is older and would benefit from additional renovations/updated furniture, but the bathrooms are modern and the beds are comfortable. And the views and location are so worth sacrificing some modern comforts. The Alaska Marine Highway ferry was also a neat way to get to Haines from Juneau. Would highly recommend!

A truly magical place
For anyone seeking a very special place away from the business of the day-to-day, where each morning begins with a slightly different variation of "wow, look outside - I can't believe how beautiful it is or how fortunate I am right now@" - you can't go past Cecily and Mark's comfy, cozy, idealistic Paradise Cove home on the shores of Mud Bay, Haines.
The home itself has a more lived-in feel, but that doesn't mean uncared for or scrappy by any means. I'm more referring to a home that has the comforts and space you would need, but is homely, not overly-glamorized or modern. It's a house that's been shown some love. In fact, the small touches - from the telescope pointing toward the stars above, or the binoculars available to guests to watch the towering ice of the melting Rainbow Glacier directly across the bay transform into aa pair of constantly running waterfalls that dissect the tall craggy mountains, to the well-kept gardens, the green green grass and especially "my favorite" the hammock swinging between 2 tall trees with a view to die for - this place was heaven!
It's just a quick 10-15min easy and scenic drive into town, so no problems there and instructions for finding the place and our arrival were easy so no hassle there. The hosts were wonderful people who checked in on us occasionally, but were never "in our face"... And the whole small town of Haines was friendly and free and unpretentious and picturesque in that way that you would expect Alaska to be.
We booked for 10 days, which for 2 current LA-urbanites, I worried may be too long to handle in such a small, isolated town without going just a little stir crazy. But as the days drew to a close, we knew if circumstances allowed, we could have stayed another month happily without getting bored by any of it.
We saw so many bears at the nearby Chilkoot River, and bald eagles every day. There are wonderful hikes around the bay and trail-heads further along and fishing and kayaking and all sorts of outdoor adventures for those seeking that level of activity. Or you could just happily stay in, watch the ever-changing view, snuggle up, read a book, write, paint, chat, cook and drink - if that's more your thing.
Most importantly, the Paradise Cove house is a place that reminds you the world is bigger than its current troubles and I highly recommend a visit to anyone of any age.
Thanks so much Cecily and Mark for a trip we won't forget.
Sandy and Irina.

Absolute peace and quiet in a serene location.
I could have spent entire days sitting in the chair in the yard watching the waterfalls below Rainbow Glacier…
But there is so much more to see and enjoy.
Cecily was a fantastic host. The house is comfortable and the property is a dream.
A fantastic week.

Unbelievably beautiful.
This was our first time visiting the area and we were impressed. You will not find a more beautiful view to wake up to and end the day with. The property is well equipped, with ample heating and views for days. We enjoyed the ability to have two separate sitting areas for quite or alone time while traveling with family. Enjoyed our time and did not want to leave. Already looking forward to the next visit.

For as long as I can remember, my father and I have always wanted to take a trip to Alaska. This last fall I logged on VRBO and searched the entire state and nothing captured my attention like this listing. I am so glad we chose Haines to visit and stayed at Paradise Cove. Each afternoon we watched the porpoise feeding in the Bay. We enjoyed panoramic views out of each and every room. We walked the shoreline and saw seals and even a sealion. Just a short drive down the road there is a nice sandbar at low tide that we used to enjoy a walk in the water. Plenty of hiking trails are within a 10 minute drive. The town of Haines is full of fantastic food and drink (The Lighthouse and the Brewery were our favorites). Then we spent almost every night driving another 9 miles out of town to sit and watch the sights at Chilkoot lake as the sun lowered.
The house was spacious, very clean and we'll heated, and provides everything you would need for an enjoyable experience. You will not come across better hosts. They live near by and responded quickly and happily during the planning process and our stay. I can not speak highly enough of them. I am already planning our trip back!

Beautiful House and Garden in Haines
This is a wonderful, spacious home with incredible views of the cove, mountains, and glaciers. It is outside downtown Haines so a car is needed but it is a very easy and quick 20 minute drive. The drive is worth it though as the house is super close to a wonderful State park with amazing hiking. We saw moose, eagles, sea lions and porpoise along our hike. The kitchen at the house has everything you need to cook wonderful meals. There is lots of room for kids to run around outside and play. If you have a kayak you can drop it right off the beach or take it up the road to the State park for even more water access locations. Cecily was very responsive and helpful in getting us to the house and making sure we had everything in order. House would be very comfortable for multiple family groups or friends vacationing together. It was spotless -- cleanest rental I have ever rented!!!

Always Paradise
We came back to Paradise Cove and were not disappointed! The house is situated in the most beautiful cove in SE Alaska. Plenty of space inside and out to hang out and watch the glacier, play games and relax. We would definitely recommend renting a car and staying for at least. Week to get into the Haines groove. Cecily and Mark were responsive and lovely hosts!

Paradise Cove
The name should give it away. The property is located on a small bay with views of Rainbow glacier and a beautiful mountain range. We spent several hours each day watching the eagles soar over the bay from the lawn. The house is located approximately five miles from the town of Haines, witch was perfect for us, very quite and is snuggled up against the trees. There is not a room in the house where you don’t have a view of the bay.

Spectacular Setting
The s was a great property in Haines. The view and surroundings right on the beach were great. The home definitely has a cabin feel to it which adds to the charm. Excellent for a family. And the hosts are
Easy and great to work with.

Stunning view!
Paradise Cove is stunningly beautiful. I felt humbled by the sight and privileged to have stayed in this home built by a family who has put their best into this rustic but very comfortable house.
The kitchen has the basics of utensils needed to prepare a meal.
If you want to use the grill be sure to buy charcoal and lighter fluid from the town market before arriving.
There are books galore to read, games, and puzzles to entertain when you aren’t out sightseeing, fishing, or hiking.
Porpoises are visible in the cove and eagles fly overhead.
I would like to recommend that the oven door be checked. It was hard to fully open it, actually a hazard, especially after the oven had heated.
Also, for me, the $200 nightly fee was misleading. All of the VRBO rentings I have paid for before, listed the nightly fee for rental of the HOUSE (up to the limit of the number of people the house sleeps), which when totaled was/is divided amongst the number of people staying. Cecily has the rental fee listed per couple (two), per night and then multiplies the fee by the number of people staying. So... if there are only two people staying the cost of the HOUSE is much less.
Thanks, Cecily, for sharing your beautiful home. If we return to Haines, your home, if available, would be my first choice to stay.

Private Paradise
A picture postcard view that has to be seen in person! A perfect place to unwind after our week long cruise and get a feel for the true Alaska. Bed was a little hard for me but the bedding was very nice, down pillows & comforter. Limited wifi with no cable or streaming available. However, an ecletic library as well as a variety of board games, puzzels etc. Nice updated bathrooms, but are downstairs from bedrooms. But the star of the place is the BEAUTIFUL VIEWS from every room! It's a cozy place to unplug and reconnect with your loved ones and appreciate nature at it's very best!

Great Haines property
This house has a view that is stunning. When the locals asked where we were staying... they knew the property and would comment on its great location. The house is convenient to town in its location, and the house floor plan has split bedrooms which allows for some privacy/separation if couples are traveling together. You can easily be as together or as separate as you choose in this house. I would stay there again should I return to Haines.

An ideal place to relaxe
The house is quietly located in a bay with spectacular views of a glacier. We were there for the second time and we enjoyed the place, the well equipped kitchen, the comfortable beds and the moosefamilie who visited us.
Cecily answered every question and we felt we were to be heard with all concerns.
We come back any time as we know we find a great place to stay and friendly hosts.

Stunning location and a cozy, well apportioned home
This spot is absolutely gorgeous! The view is world class, as is the access to all the beauty and fun that Haines has to offer. The vacation home is cozy and comfortable, with all the kitchen items we needed to cook up all the seafood we caught! Cecily and Mark were lovely, prompt in their communications, and helped us out with a boat mechanical issue.
We'll be back to Paradise Cove!

A Perfect Place for Our Haines Vacation!
The house at Paradise Cove was a perfect place for our Haines vacation. The house was well stocked with the essential amenities and very comfortable. The house is surrounded by beautiful flowers and a great lawn provides a wonderful space to relax out of doors. Cecily and Mark were gracious, friendly and worked hard to help make our stay pleasant. The view was incredible and the peace and quiet, restorative. The house is close enough to town to be convenient and far enough away to feel secluded. It is also central to many of the area attractions, Mt. Riley, Chilkoot State Park, The Bald Eagle Preserve, Klukwan Cultural Center, and the Chilkat and Chilkoot Rivers, to name some of our favorites. We will definitely return!

Incredible place and Home had an amazing time with our family of four wish we could’ve stayed longer
Paradise cove was truly paradise for our family! Amazing and comfortable house, huge yard for the boys to play and spectacular views and natural surroundings. We paddle boarded, kayaked in the cove, fished from the rocks and caught a few dolly’s, explored the low tides and couldn’t get enough of the stunning views of rainbow glacier in the mountains surrounding. The hosts were very helpful and the house was well appointed and there was plenty of space for everyone.
great charm and character we hope to get back again soon and next time stay longer. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Glorious and peaceful vacation home!
This was our second stay at the home on Paradise Cove. We felt like we were coming home this time, when we came to stay for a week. It is only about a 10 minute drive down Mud Bay Rd from Haines, and it is a quiet and lovely getaway. The Paradise Bay home is spacious and clean. Everything is provided that you might need in the kitchen for home cooking during your vacation meals; after dinner, you can move down to the rocky shore to the fire pit for a gathering around the fire. Thank-you Cecily, for sharing your Alaskan homestead!

Quaint house in the perfect location!!!!
This was absolutely the best vacation! The house is in a perfect location, and it seems like you can't get enough of the scenery...now matter what room the views are amazing! We got the chance to see two moose one of the mornings while eating breakfast. We had 7 guests 1year old to 85 year old and was perfect for everyone. Would highly recommend to anyone in the Haines area!

Wonderful
The home was very nice, clean and had everything that you would need. The views are stunning, the location is great for relaxing, viewing wildlife, go fishing, sitting on the beach chair reading a book. And there are enough books, you can read!!. We did a lot of cooking, and appreciated the cookware and cutlery.
The house is close enough to Haines to visit, but away from all the crowds.
We would recommend this place, thank you for a great stay! We very much enjoyed our five nights at Paradise Cove.

10 days in Paradise
From the moment we walked thru the door at Paradise Cove House, we felt right at home. That view! Oh, that view - it surrounds you and you can't help but be affected by it. We chose to sleep in the annex bedroom due to the bed being situated as to take in that view from the time you went to sleep until the time you woke up in the morning. We saw a family of otters right off the beach, eagles soaring overhead, a hawk chasing a pair of jays from tree to tree, and of course, the stunning Rainbow Glacier and its waterfall ever present across the cove. Haines is a lovely, small town with friendly folks and excellent food. Daily trips to the Chilkoot River/Lake rewarded us with sightings of their famous brown bears feeding at the fish weir and along the river. What a thrill! From kayaking on Chilkoot Lake, a day trip on the fast ferry to Skagway to take the train up into the Yukon, to a drive up the magnificent Haines Highway, each of our 10 night stay was an adventure just waiting to happen. We had a visit from a bear behind the house the second night there, and finally saw the local moose and her calf one evening just down the road from the house. While the weather was less than ideal - we had rain every day, with breaks of sun and clouds now and again, we were prepared with the proper rain gear and didn't miss a beat. The rain didn't affect our enjoyment of the house or the activities Haines had to offer. Try the delicious salami/onion pizza at the Fireweed, or the fantastic homemade fudge from Alaska Rod's, and don't forget the fresh baked sourdough bread from the Pilot Light Bakery and Restaurant. A visit to the Haines Brewing Company and the Haines Distillery are a must. We added a new growler to our Alaska growler collection to bring home. Our hostess, Cecily, couldn't have been more responsive - before leaving home, she answered all email inquiries quickly and efficiently, providing all the details we needed to make this trip so memorable. It was a pleasure to meet you, Cecily, and all your recommendations were spot on. This home away from home was a perfect blend of rustic and modern that fit our vacation expectations perfectly. Thank you Cecily and Mark for sharing your beautiful homestead with us, we hope to be back someday in the future. Haines, Alaska is the quintessential small town with mountains, ocean, glaciers and wildlife - so many recreational activities right at your fingertips. Yup, we'll be back! :)
