Situated in Truckee, this lovely cabin for $408 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Come and enjoy this comfortable and inviting mountain get away. This is a great place for families. Relax in 2100 Sq. ft. of bright and functional living space with vaulted pine ceilings, hardwood floors, stove gas fire and central forced air heat. Make use of the fully equipped kitchen with all household necessities provided. The 4 bedrooms are furnished in mountain style with log beds. The 2 master bedrooms have jetted tubs. The mezzanine floor provides extra space for sitting/sleeping. Comfortably sleeps 10. Embrace the mountain/ forest ambience on the sunny deck overlooking the private yard that extends to Alder Creek and forested greenbelt. The deck has Adirondack chairs, large dining table and gas BBQ. A perfect setting for outside dining. A second sun deck off the master bedroom is ideal for your morning cup of coffee. Park in the spacious 2 car garage with room for more cars on the large, level driveway. (ping pong, foosball in garage during summer months). Located on Northwood Blvd. you will have a quick, easy access to the ski slopes on powder days. Tahoe Donner ski hill and cross country ski center is 2 min drive and you are centrally located for the drive to Palisades Tahoe, Northstar or Sugar bowl ski resorts. Tubing and sledding is 1 mile away. In summer you can walk out the cabin door and immediately enjoy the expansive network of Tahoe Donner hiking and biking trails. Fine dining and drinking is within walking distance(one mile) at The Lodge at Tahoe Donner. Trout creek Recreation center is next door to the Lodge and fee access is provided to all the excellent Tahoe Donner amenities. Swimming pools, sauna, steam room, hot tubs, exercise room, 18 hole golf course and equestrian center. In the summer enjoy the private beach (fee applies) at Donner Lake with boat launch, canoe, boat and bike rental. Historic downtown Truckee for all shopping and dining is a 10 minute drive. Loved the cabin. Us and another family stayed to celebrate the Holidays. There were 8 adults in total and the cabin was so comfortable for us! Well stocked and easy stay. There’s even a creek in the back.

This place was perfect for 7 people to spend a long weekend. A lot of room, the 4 bathrooms were so convenient. A pretty quick drive to Lake Tahoe and Donner Lake. The house is pretty clean though a little dusty and there are a lot of stairs. Overall a positive experience and everyone enjoyed our stay here.

This cabin named after a lovely Inn in Glencoe Scotland was nice. Getting to and from the three floors on surprisingly very steep steps was a bit difficult for the older family members but once that was accomplished we had a good time. The beds especially in the bottom twin bedroom could have been better but that was our only other complaint. All of us very much enjoyed the ping pong and foosball tables in the garage. Fiona was very communicative and helpful.

This house was great for families with kids and teens. Well laid out, everyone had their own space. House was fully stocked with everything we needed and very clean. Location is great, near town, the Tahoe Donner rec area and Donner Lake. Creek behind the house is beautiful and hiking trails are very close. Would definitely stay again.

The Clachaig was a great house for our family ranging 5 - 73. The close proximity to Lake Tahoe was perfect! The kids loved the game room.

Great family, place and easy communication with the property manager! Instructions were very clear and the kids had a blast playing for hours in the snow in the backyard with all the extra equipment they have provided! House is well stocked.

It really felt like this was a friend's home that we stayed at and not just a vacation property. We could not have had a better experience given the circumstances that we had. Communication with Fiona was fast and we appreciated all the considerations that she gave us when dealing with the snow storm that pummeled through the weekend. The home itself is cozy, lived in and the bathrooms smelled clean (iykyk). The kitchen was well appointed with quality cookware and we made sure to take care of things as well. The chimney stove in the living area was everything, so warming while the storm fell hard outside. The home was large enough for four adults and four children (6 and under) to move around and be snowed-in together for an entire weekend. We made use of the outdoor space and patio for snow play, exploration (didn’t get far because the snow was so deep) and some make shift sledding. The garage had a lot of gear (snow suits, sleds, summer gear etc). Unfortunately, our plans for Tahoe Donner did not happen but I’m sure it would’ve been a really short drive to get there. So grateful to this home for sheltering us and thanks so much Fiona!

We had the most wonderful family trip to the snow at this fabulous cabin! There were ten of us, three generations, and everybody had a fantastic time! We built an amazing sled run along the side of the house and into the backyard, and also had a great time building snowmen and having snowball fights. A few of us also did some cross country skiing at the Tahoe Donner area which is just a mile away. The cabin itself is one of the best ones we’ve ever stayed in - roomy, beautifully decorated, and completely stocked with everything you need. We loved it and will definitely be back!!

The house has plenty of space, plenty of bathrooms, and plenty of beds for a large group. Communication with the owner was fantastic and she went out of her way to tell us we could check in early (initially we were not able to, but as soon as that changed she reached out to tell us). I will absolutely be staying here again!

We stayed three nights at this property. The home is very large and clean. There were two master bedrooms which was nice for our two families. The home is a three story, so if you are not a fan of steps, this home may not be for you. There is no A/C, but the home did not get too hot and there were fans in most of the bed rooms.

My family of 4, sister’s family of 3 and my parents spent a long weekend at the property. There was plenty of space for all of us plus some. The snow sleds that were provided were well used by the kids sledding and playing around the property. Kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of glasses, dishes and silverware for a large group. As mentioned by other posters, cell service is touchy to non-existent. On-site Wi-Fi worked well but not for multiple devices to be streaming at once. Directv was great and we were able to watch football playoffs. It was a very comfortable home and made a great home away from home. Stairs are a little steep which were a little challenge for my parents. We all enjoyed our time here so much that we are planning a return trip for next winter.

The property was spacious and had everything we needed. There was a nook fill with books, toys, and games for kids to play which was a nice surprise. The location of the rooms allowed for each family to have their own space and provided some separation between kids and adults. The kitchen was fully stocked and had plenty of dishes for us to use during our stay. Another nice surprise was the garage and all the extras that were available to use (sleds, boots, jackets) in case they were needed for snow play. The only aspect for improvement would be the cleanliness. Some of the sheets did not appear clean with hair strands under the covers and the bunk bed room downstairs was dusty and there were spider webs and large spiders in the corners of the room. Perhaps the cleaning was done well before our arrival but a quick sweep or dusting prior to our arrival would have been nice. But all in all, we had a great stay and would gladly stay again.

The house is big and roomy, three-levels and our two families had plenty of space and all we needed for our stay. We came after a big snow storm, so all was white and beautiful. Two car parking garage is very helpful in the winter. Our kids had fun shoveling snow in the driveway. The host responded fast if needed. We will definitely be back!

Property was spacious and clean. Communication with owner was excellent!!! Location was great. Close to Donner Lake, and Safeway. Would definitely recommend!!! Deck was our favorite part. It allowed room for the 10 of us to have all our meals together with great scenery.

We had a wonderful week's vacation at one of the best-stocked houses we've ever rented (condiments, spices, kitchen essentials and appliances, even tons of outdoor play stuff). We enjoyed the separation provided by the bedrooms on three floors, the wonderful patio for lounging and dining, and access to the Alder Lake Creek and trail right in the backyard. The hosts were very responsive and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed.
As others have mentioned, the internet is pretty slow, so there was some lag when streaming movies and playing online games. It wouldn't be a good fit for someone needing to do a lot of videoconferencing. Also, as of this writing, there is no Verizon service at the house (T-mobile worked), so we were reliant on the wifi and couldn't receive phone calls and (some) texts.
For you bathtub people: all three tubs are standard size with an upright back, not ideal for lounging/reading in the tub unless you are 6' or so and don't mind sitting straight up. But the water is plentiful and hot and the drains don't leak. We didn't try the jets.
Overall, a great house in a great location!

We had a great stay here in Truckee. The house was clean, comfortable and conveniently located. The trails out the back door and creek were wonderful for our children and for after dinner walks. Lake Tahoe, Donner Lake and Loch Leven were all short drives. An excellent location to launch from and also to relax in the evenings. Beds were super comfortable and the owner communicated beautifully.

My friend's family and my family stayed in this house for three days and we all enjoyed it. We four adults and four children liked this place so much that my son request to go back in summer. The house is clean and spacious. You can find anything you want in the kitchen, There is a loft on the third floor full of toys and the kids stayed there all the time except sleep. The host is so responsible that you can always got replies within 30 mins if you sent msg through Vrbo. My only complain is the internet connection. It is very slow and sometimes unusable. It did cause us some troubles since it took a long time to buffer when the kids want to watch prime video. Other than that, everything is so perfect.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is spacious enough room for 2-3 families, although we were only 4. We had so much fun playing in the large snow area behind the house, where we did sledding and built an ice structure, and explored the creek. Really no need to travel to another location for snow play and we had so much privacy, few people around. Home is nicely decorated cabin feel, and fully stocked with all kitchen items, games, books, and foosball table. Can't wait to return again!

Our family (including a 9 yr old and a 5 yr old) had a blast staying at this property. The only time we ever left the house was to pick up food and groceries! We spent the majority of our time in Truckee just in the backyard: building a sled run, building a snow fort, throwing snow balls, crossing the creek, exploring nature, etc. Inside was cozy and warm, and the kids loved the books and foosball table in the loft. A great mountain getaway for a family!

We stayed at the cabin for a long weekend with family and had a great time! There was plenty of space and things to do. There was a fantastic game area in the loft and great places for snow play right outside the cabin. Additionally, the cabin was exceptionally stocked (plenty of kitchen utensils and appliances, snow gear, linens and extra blankets, etc.). We definitely hope to stay here again in the future!

We absolutely loved our stay in Truckee. Plenty of room for a family of 8. The kids enjoyed all the games and fun the house provides but also the backyard was a perfect place to play in the snow.

This house/cabin was perfect. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay and having a bbq was great! We wish there would have been screens in the master bedrooms as we like sleeping with our window open for fresh air but we still rate this place a 5. It was pretty close to town so that was super convenient. Will definitely be booking this place again in the future.
