We loved our trip at this cabin, however we got off to a rough start due to a few different things.
The house temperature was in the 20's when we arrived. So cold that the toilet water was frozen. Someone had come by the cabin to turn on the gas heater just before our arrival and tracked snow all throughout the cabin with no attempt to clean up after themselves. We attempted to use the oven for dinner that night and whoever had cooked in their prior did not clean the bottom of the oven, so when we were preheating it smoke started coming out due to the oil burning on the bottom.
The cabin has a nice wood burning stove to heat the downstairs portion of the cabin, however since the cabin temperature was so cold when we arrived it took a long time to build a fire hot enough to push all the cold air out of the chimney so the smoke was entering into the cabin instead of out the chimney. Needless to say, every item we brought with us smells like smoke from the woodstove and the oven.
With that said, I contacted the staff to remedy the toilet and smoke issues upon our arrival, and the staff was helpful and we resolved the issues. I do however think that all these problems are easily avoidable if they clean a little better between guests, and prep the cabin earlier for new guests arriving in the winter.
All in all, this cabin is in a great location and gives you everything you need for a stay in Truckee. Also the hot tub on the back deck is a very nice feature!

This is a nice little cabin.
The place was very clean upon arrival! It could use more attention on cleanliness of anything that goes in the wash (linen, towels, etc.) and the cookware (pans, pots, etc.). There are enough dishes and cookware to get by with a family of 4.
The cabin heat was not on when we checked in and with the two furnaces in the living area (one gas one wood), it took most of the night to get the ambient temp to be comfortable. It was a chilly start.
The place looks like has not been updated likely since the 70's, including the appliances, so it's a bit of a throwback, but everything works okay.
Our hosts communicated well.
Check in and check out was a breeze.

We rented this property over Thanksgiving weekend to be close to our family gathering down the way. We were happy the cabin was pet friendly and the location was nice and quiet but the place could definitely use a refresh.
Bedding was old and torn and the heating system was ancient and only heated half of the cabin and no wood was available on site to build a fire. It was definitely your basic shelter with no creature comforts or amenities to speak of other than the hot tub which we didn’t try. The coffee maker was broken so no coffee the first morning but Vacasa did bring a new one over later in the day and we were pleased with Shawn and her service. The place was a time warp with a 30 year old boom box for music and a VCR but at current market rates. Also I think it would be quite difficult to rent this place in the winter due to a lot of stairs and a steep driveway. In conclusion not my favorite rental but it meets your basic needs and doesn’t strive to go beyond that.

It’s a cozy spot with hot tub , we had a good time there with lots of board games and old school VHS , the place is not very fancy but meets all the basic for heater , grill , kitchen with pots and pans , the hot tub is very nice clean over all place is clean just the carpet has a smell

The cabin was clean and cozy, the hot tub was great and there is an incredible VHS collection. The location is convenient and easy to find. Check-in was simple and fast. The master bed is very firm, but the loft bed was very comfortable.

Great place for the price. My only concern was that the upkeep in the winter to get access was not the best. THe driveway was barely cleared and I had to shovel in order to have enough room to pull truck in and still get out with open doors. The entrance was very slippery with layers of snow having turned to ice. AND, we did not have access to the hottub because the dek was covered with snow. (While I undrstand there was a lot of snow this year, I feel that should be reflected on the listing that you should not expect access to it in the winter months, as I chose then property because it had a hottub that I thought I would be able to use).

Love how the backyard connects to the hill with lots of snow. Very convenient location.

very nice space, lovely architecture, warm heater. Loved it.
too many stairs and slanted driveway, ICE!!! in the future will choose properties with flat driveways and no stairs. It was too hard with all the ice to enjoy coming and going.

This home is filled with light and you can see trees from every window. It was the perfect spot to relax with family and close to everything.

This was a great little cabin, larger than it appears in the pictures. I think the mattresses may have also been recently updated. It was very comfy and we were glad they welcomed our pups to join us.

It’s perfectly nestled in the trees but neighbors are close enough if you ever needed help. It’s 5 minute drive into town and another 10 minutes to old town Truckee, the beach, the museums and food. My husband and I brought our 14 yr old grandson & 15 yr old granddaughter they can’t wait to come back. More than enough room for the 4 of us to relax, watch movies, play games and enjoy the hot tub on the back porch. We really hated to leave after our week. The home is fully stocked to cook and more than enough towels for the whole week. It was very clean and comfy just like home!! We will definitely book this cabin again.

carpets were stained and dirty
no screens on the windows, it was hot so we opened the windows and ended up with beetles in the house at night, not fun.
On the back porch the garbage can was full of dog poop.

Fantastic location. Everything worked properly and well: hot tub, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer. Plenty of towels and sheets to use. Enjoyed the use of the VCR-a little education for our children. While the surfaces and floor of the kitchen and bathroom were clean, there was a dirty dish in the sink when we arrived, as well as used coffee and coffee grinds in the coffee maker. The carpet is quite stained and could have been vacuumed better: dog hair on the stairs, dead bugs in the corners of the carpet. A lot of the windows could use screens. It got hot in the afternoon, and if we opened the windows, lots of beetles would fly in.

Charming rustic cabin
This cabin has the exact rustic feel that I am looking for and the collection of VHS+tape cassettes are definitely the cherry on top. They should preserve these as much as possible since my kids would've never known what those look like if we haven't stayed at this cabin. We also pick this cabin specifically because it has private hot tub, which works well & have good lighting even during the evening but not sure why the seating is very low. They provide lots of towels but wish there are extra floor mats, especially because access to the hot tub is via the carpeted master bedroom. So things could get pretty wet on your way to the bathroom after.
Everything else works well as excepted: stove, oven, dishwasher, wifi. Appreciate that they provide drinking water in the 5-gallon jug. However, they don't provide any kleenex, clorox wipes and dryer sheets.
I would recommend this cabin in a heartbeat but hope they'll replace the washer (super loud) and dryer (need at least 2 cycle to dry) + replenish some of the missing blinds in the living room & having coat closets would be nice (it's currently occupied with cleaning supplies with now hanging rod).

Really cozy cabin for 4 people who don’t mind bunking together. Loved the high ceiling and affordability of this place! Hard to come across in Donner and Tahoe. My friends did not appreciate the color of the bathroom (lime green) but they’re kinda high maintenance when it comes to ambiance of environments lol. Only big issue was we think the PH levels of the hot tub were off because it caused some burning and itching sensations in all of us. Otherwise it was a really nice stay and absolutely beautiful to have the fireplace going while it was snowing outside.

This is the perfect home base for your Truckee-Tahoe adventure. It’s a traditional A-Frame Cabin not a swanky Instagram Estate so if you’re looking for that you may be disappointed. At this price point for a pet-friendly cabin we couldn’t be happier. The hot tub was a plus. It was a great spot to hang out after a nice MTB ride at the nearby Tahoe-Donner trail system or just relaxing under the stars at night. The kitchen had everything we needed, The Cabin is just plain comfortable, it really had a homey feel to it like you were at your own families cabin that was around since you were a kid. The bathroom and kitchen is dated but it is in terrific shape and everything worked great. The grill on the deck is new and works great also. I would imagine in the winter the driveway could pose challenges for some people. It’s been written in a couple other reviewers about the back deck near the hot tub being in need of repair. I can confirm that but I believe it to be fixed soon as I saw a new stack of deck material at the house. I would book another stay at this cabin for my next stay without hesitation ! On a side note, if you bring your pooches up please pick up after them. There are not many options that allow pets so be grateful for such a great place to stay with your animals and keep it nice for others in the future!

This was our first VRBO rental. The listing was 100% accurate. The entire process was as easy as a few thumb clicks via the VRBO app.
We had zero issues with the listing or the property, but feel as though we need to say a few things regarding this particular property.
It's old and outdated (think grandparents). Although the property is structurally sound, it wouldnt hurt to have someone come in and spruce the place up a bit. A few examples, maybe repair/replace the blinds throughout the unit. The large vertical blinds were missing some, leaving gaps.
Some lamps are missing the shades.
Maybe update the deck (back), there are a few soft spots and some boards need replacing. There is (at the date of this review) broken sleds, empty boxes and misc. junk under the deck, along with some wood and garbage just past the parking spot.
This rental had a hot tub!! It was amazing! It got hot and some of the jets worked, while some did not. Maybe include a manual on how to operate the control panel for the hot tub?
Sleeping. Oh boy. My wife and I spent two nights in this rental and by the morning of check out we were already dreaming of our bed back home. If we were to rent this cabin again, be will be bringing our air mattress. The beds upstairs in the loft were decent, the queen on the lower level was laughably hard. We found a mattress topper and ended up sleeping on the lower level floor to try to get a few hours of rest.
Heads up to future renters: bring your own pillows. Not to slight VRBO, but both the lower mattress as well as all 12 or so pillows were barely usable. This is just an observation!
It has a sense of charm since it was almost a time capsule of times gone by. We loved the selection of VHS tapes and enjoyed using them with a VCR.
The kitchen did the job! Although again, could use a handyman's touch.
Also heads up there is a woodpecker making it's home in the side of the house. And that little fella has no shame in doing his woodpecker thing starting at 5:50 am LOL!! It was precious. Annoying, but charming.
I will add this; when we arrived the softcover to the tub was off and balled up behind the tub. When we returned from errands and hiking someone had come by and put the soft cover over the hard cover. It was a little unsettling knowing someone was on the property while we were out.
Overall would rent this unit again, and will definitely be using VRBO in future getaways.

Cozy cabin with great fireplace
We stayed here for a long weekend and overall enjoyed it. The great room is the highlight, with huge windows and an incredible old-timey fireplace. The deck is also spacious. We spent almost all our time at the cabin in those two locations.
The two downsides were that the furniture desperately needs updating -- it's becoming quite lumpy and uncomfortable. Also the listing included the hot tub but when we arrived we found out that the hot tub was locked because of the pandemic. A review of fine print in an email showed that we'd technically been notified ahead of time, but it was still a disappointment since the hot tub was a primary draw for us in making the booking.
Overall, though, we really enjoyed this cabin and would visit again, especially if new furniture is brought in and the hot tub is available.

the home need a lot of repairs and updates. Screens in the window and 3 sliding glass doors are need
get a better cleaning service. Repair the trash bin at the street. It is attracting bears since they can just reach in and grab trash. Fix it! Pick up all of the trash under and around the back deck. also replace the back deck it is in really bad shape.

Nicely nestled in the pines
The fact that it was no frills was made up for nicely by the cleanliness (although carpet could use a steam clean or should be replaced) and comfortable, cozy feel. Plus, being perfectly placed amongst the towering pine trees really gave an overall sense of truly being in the
wilderness. And I actually liked the retro lime green decor for the bathroom.
However, I did not appreciate that the lock box combo I was given did not work for either the front door box or the sliding doors box on the street side.
Was able to get a hold of an agent fairly quickly and the situation was resolved with the correct combination for the sliding doors box.
Overall I enjoyed the stay.

This was a nice property, but could have used a little TLC. A lot of the light bulbs were out or missing, and there was no furniture to sit on the beautiful deck.

Beautiful nature retreat
We loved our stay! All the essentials are provided so after going out and buying food we never had to leave the cabin. There is plenty of space for outdoor activities out back of the cabin and a spacious porch in front. We took our dogs and had a great time taking them on long walks along the road and playing with them in the snow out back. We even saw a coyote trekking around the snow early one morning.
