Room was very stuffy and hot. There were staines on table, the was dusty in places and the best was like sleeping on a trampoline.
Bed, heat - one fan wasn't enough,.

Near a Waitrose as the food isn’t that good. Also a cracking pub up the road.
The room allocated was the last in the building, not a huge issue but the building was empty when we arrived, that telling me that there wasn't many booked. This was confirmed at Breakfast, not busy at all. We went to our room and found it dated, again not a big deal but could have been maintained better. The shower head isn't attached to the pole, it doesn't stay up so you have to hold it over your head. When I shaved, the plug isn't attached and found it difficult to remove. There was hot water,
apparently a bonus for us as other guests didn't have any at all this morning! We went to a lovely local pub, The Railway, great beer and friendly. After we decided to return to the hotel for our evening meal. The chef was behind the bar and abruptly pointed out that many choices were not available, apparently the freezer isn't working! The waitress looked embarrassed and actually advised us to eat elsewhere anyway! Now, that's crazy, an employee advising residents to eat elsewhere. We ended up at Waitrose for
sandwiches, good advice from the waitress. It's

When we booked in on Friday the staff were Brilliant.one member of staff stood out by a mile from the other staff, his name was Robert, nothing was to much trouble at all.
The water wasn’t very warm for showers.also the second Rommel we had the shower riser was sized up and could not be moved for height adjustment

A very pleasant place with friendly staff in a good location, Close to the High Street but still quiet.

Friendly reception, waitresses and other staff worked hard to make us feel welcome .
Restaurant food and service was very good.
Being awoken in our room at 5am on two successive mornings by loud noises and vibration from an airlock in the plumbing system which management couldn't remedy and which forced us to seek nearby alternative accomodation for the nights of August 10-13 after which we were traveling to our hotel near Heathrow Airport.
Having difficulty in getting a timely refund from Booking.com for the prepaid but unused and unusable nights of August 10-13 at the Alton House Hotel which due to airlocks in the plumbing system made our room unusable and unfortunately no suitable alternative room(s) were available to us at the time .

Every thing was fine.

Location is perfect for what I needed for work. I simply use it as a bed for the night as it is close to where I work and also close to the restaurants in Alton
Wi-fi in the room was not good enough to work from, unless I sat in the bathroom !

Near to town. Walking distance with a lovely entrance hall and friendly, helpful receptionists.
Poor standard of rooms. Frayed carpets and damaged flooring in bathroom so a teip hazard. Peeling wood tables thst needed throwing away. Needed an updateas dreary decor. Complained and moved to another updated room but this wasn't too much better! The place needs a total refurbishment. Decor of all walkways poor and shabby. Carpets threadbare. Communal areas dated and unkept.

No lift to the upper floor.. Shower over the bath with nothing to hold to climb in and out.

Staff very friendly. Room Clean and comfortable. Close to all amenities. Very supportive when plans changed, chef packed our cooked breakfast to travel home with.
Car park at the rear was a little overgrown and mossy. Not too comfortable travelling to and from there in the dark.
Bedroom we stayed in was clean and adequate but a little dated.

Location
Our room was very basic at the top of the building. Numerous stairs to climb (we are late 70's). Shower area - impossible to shower without washing whole of the floor. We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times now and this stay didn't meet expectations (Room 25)
