O hotel é espetacular. Os quartos, a piscina privativa, a recepção dos colaboradores, a qualidade da comida. É muito exclusivo e é o lugar perfeito para descansar. A praia em frente é muito bonita e não tem ninguem.
A estrada para chegar é pessima e de terra. Como choveu na vespera e fui a noite, foi um caos para chegar. Poderia ter placas para ajudar a achar a propriedade.
O quarto tem o conceito de não ter janelas e é uma delicia. Entretanto, acaba ventando e entrando muita luz.

Wunderschöne Villa, authentisch ausgestattet, Bett super bequem, eigener Pool. Personal super zuvorkommend und immer bedacht, dass es den Gästen an nichts fehlt. Das Essen ist qualitativ hochstehend und immer frisch. Die gesamte Anlage ist wunderschön, ruhig und paradiesisch. Ein Ort zum Erholen, Runterfahren und um zu sich zu kommen.
Das ist Kritik auf hohem Niveau: die Portionen dürften etwas kleiner sein. Manchmal wurden die Bestellungen nicht korrekt aufgenommen.

Sehr schönes kleines Retreat mit nur 4 Häusern/Villen. Absolute Privatsphäre für jeden. Permanent gepflegtes grünes Paradies. Im Vergleich zu manch anderem Hotel Instandhaltung der ganzen Anlage auf sehr hohem Niveau! Keine Klimaanlage aber auch keine Fenster, dadurch vom Wind bestmöglich und natürlich gekühlt. alles mit Fliegengittern geschützt. Riesen Bett mit bestem Fliegengitter des ganzen Urlaubs. Ganz tolles Team, das einem jedem Wunsch von dem Lippen abliest. Das geht nicht viel besser. Jeden Morgen wird früh Kaffee und Tee vor die Villa gestellt, damit kann man sich vor dem Frühstück gemütlich auf die Terrasse setzten. Es gibt keine festen Zeiten fürs Essen. Man kann kommen wann man will und wird immer herzlich empfangen und umsorgt. Essen ist ausgezeichnet und die Cocktails sind sehr lecker! Die Salate sind Weltklasse! Bei diesem Konzept macht All inclusive viel Sinn! Sehr gute Massage. Sehr guter großer Pool. Es ist nicht viel drum herum. man kann aber am Strand entlang um den Nordzipfel der Halbinsel laufen (z.B. bis zur legendären Kae Beach Bar ca. 20 Minuten). Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder.
Es gibt nichts wirklich zu bemängeln!
Die Getränke könnten ein bisschen kälter sein. Aber bei den Außentemperaturen von dauerhaft 26 - 32 Grad (auch nachts nicht kühler) ist das mit dem Kühlen und mit Eiswürfeln natürlich schwierig und nach ein paar Minuten eh nicht mehr wirklich kühl zu halten, Die Anfahrt ist spannend, wie eigentlich zu jedem Hotel auf Zanzibar und die Beschilderung mäßig (auch das haben wir bei all unseren Unterkünften so erlebt). Die Maasai haben uns aber alle geholfen, das Jua zu finden! Wir waren mit dem eigenen Mietwagen unterwegs, das ist an sich schon sehr herausfordernd, aber hat Spaß gemacht. Beim für die meisten üblichen Transfer per Taxi bzw. Abholservice vom Hotel tun sich die Fahrer in der Regel leichter die Hotels zu finden.

The location was the best part about this property.
The manager was a little extra chatty, everytime we went to the restaurant for a meal he would come every 10 minutes trying to strike a conversation. That was a little disturbing.

We absolutely loved our stay at Jua Retreat. Villas are beautiful and the bed is probably the largest we have ever slept in. Views are breathtaking - surrounded by nature and sea. Hassan and his team make sure that they make your stay memorable through their personalised service and nothing is ever an issue, they made us feel special through entire stay. Food is made fresh specifically for you and the choice is great - Breakfast was especially delicious! We loved the jams and home made pastry which changed every day, you could also get your "starter" breakfast including juices, coffee, home made pastries, yogurt, muesli and fruits to your villa porch every morning. My favourite part of the day! Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking to be pampered and relaxed in beautiful and very private surroundings.

This is not your usual hotel on the beach. This place is a mix between luxury and living in nature surrounded by beauty. I spent 3 nights of my honeymoon there, which was magical. You have your privacy, and the service is top-notch. The staff there are super friendly and accommodating, and they make you feel at home, Emanuel Hassan Jamal and the rest of the staff will always make you feel special .
The food there is some type of fine dining on the beach we looked forward to every and each meal as they were delicious. And every morning, you will wake up to find coffee and amazing cookies at your door, which was incredible.

Everything, the room was big, the bed was huge, the views were incredible, staff super friendly and attentive, the food was like Michelin star.
Sometimes we felt the laid back staff were a little slow mainly when making cocktails. It wasn’t a big issue but the only thing I could fault.

The service provided from Hasan, Jamal, Emanuel,Musa, the whole kitchen and housekeeping staff was exceptionally good! It really is like heaven on earth and a paradise for your soul. You are far away from big tourist spots and therefore you are able to experience a unique stay. The food is amazing and they try to fulfill every wish you have. All in all this is a place where you can recharge your batteries habe the best time of your life!

Jua is not an ordinary, though charming resort. It is more and far better described as an amazing experience for your senses! The views, the position, the sounds, the food, the ladies and gentlemen who take good care of all your needs! Everything is just wonderful and a true immersion in nature! The ultimate barefoot luxury experience with fabulous food, excellent service and the feeling of being on a deserted island!!

The villas are very spacious and has everything you will need and more for a comfortable stay. We never had any issue at all. We loved that it is very traditional and open yet still offers high level of privacy. I was a bit worried about the open bathroom initially, but this was a non-issue. The bed was the biggest bed we’ve ever seen but also very cozy and comfortable. We loved the small pool in the villa terrace and the beds/loungers just outside the villa where you can just laze the day away or just stargaze at night. The villas were also cleaned daily and there is also a turndown service at night. The staff were very helpful and friendly - not in an intrusive way but in a very discreet, polite manner. The big common pool was also amazing, we spent a lot of time here to just chill and enjoy. The beach/sea was also fantastic - it’s not really a beach where you get a wide sandy beach - but in that way it is unique - we loved both when it’s high and low tide and the transition in between. When it’s high tide, the views from the villas or from the restaurant is amazing and the sounds of the waves are soothing, but when it’s low tide then you can go for a walk, see birds, and just explore that stretch of the coastline. In between the high tide and low tide when the water is not too high and just starting to recede, you can just sit by the sea and enjoy the views which are magnificent. Food as well is amazing. We were not served anything that we did not like and the portions were big enough. The all inclusive package was well worth the price - you get any food or drink you wish for, anywhere in the property (or even outside as we went for a tour very early morning and requested for our breakfast to be packed and the staff very happily obliged) and at any time of day. There is a lounge area in the restaurant hut where it is also very nice to relax and drink wine and read a book.
Nothing we did not like but just more of a comment on food - it would be amazing to incorporate more of the local food in the daily menus. During our 4 nights stay, there was only 1 night that was “Swahili night”, and being the Swahili night we were excited to try the local food and we thought it would be more special or there will be more preparation in some way to showcase the local food, however we were served an underwhelming sharing platter. On all other days and nights the food was amazing especially the salads. Not much seafood options also although being in an island you would expect that seafood would be the superstar of the menu.

We had a nice stay at Jua Retreat. The staff was great, the food delicious, the location is quite unique. If you’re a nature lover you’ll most probably enjoy your time there. It’s a very peaceful environment.
The location is very remote, about 2h drive from the airport and there is about 10 mins drive before arriving with no road and it can be a bit of a bumpy ride. Also quite difficult to travel around on your own if you want to - you’ll definitely need a taxi for pick up.
We were a bit unfortunate during our stay as there was construction at a neighboring hotel and it lasted a whole night until early morning. The noise was even worse because the rooms do not have any windows so we couldn’t sleep at all on our first night. However, the hotel owner and the staff were helpful and apologetic the next - they even compensated us for this.

Staff - Hassan, Musa, Emmanuel & Jamal were amazing hosts. Always made our stay there very comfortable with lovely stories. They tought my partner Swahili which was quite funny. They are very helpful already ready to help when called upon, and honored all of our wishes. Mr.Hassan organized a few surprises for me together with my partner which were executed to perfection!
Food - The food at Jua is amazing, very exquisitely presented and served professionally. The menu is simple and not too crowded making it easy to make decisions on meals. They serve a proper 3 course meal at dinner and we literally loved and tried every single item on the menu the days we were there. Even their cutlery is elaborate and cute.
Views - FANTASTIC.
Location - Jua is not a busy hotel, it's very very intimate and offers access to a mostly private beach with very few tourists activities. Which is great if you want a true private retreat experience.

Fantastic spacious rooms complimented by incredible service and food. Utterly relaxing atmosphere with such an intimate location. The staff are relaxed and incredibly helpful. The beds and the rooms are enormous.
The water pressure for the shower could be temperamental. It's a by-product of the eco approach the resort takes so it is a very small price to pay and it's definitely overlooked in light of the rest of the resort's comforts.

They didn't accept card at the hotel (eventough the website says they accept), but with the help of the staff we managed to pay the taxi and leave the tips by card. Thanks for the help.

This place is absolutely amazing!! My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights as the final part of our honeymoon. I was excited to come having read some fantastic reviews but it was better than we could have expected. Jua is utterly stunning; the villas are spacious, beautiful and private. There is such an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquillity through the whole place. The staff particularly are exceptional - thank you to Hassan, and to Musa, Emanuel and Jamal who made us feel like absolutely nothing was any trouble. We came down for each meal to find the table laid in a different place, usually by candlelight and right next to the ocean. Room service via Whatsapp was also such a fab idea! Huge thank you to Lillian and her excellent massages and to the housekeeping team who were fantastic. And finally, to the whole team in the kitchen who produced the most incredible food throughout our stay. Every single meal was fabulous!! We would highly recommend Jua and would absolutely love to return at some point.

Just to note the beach is not hugely suited to swimming - you do need shoes and the tides are strong. But you can walk for miles when the tide is out, and paddle in shallow waters when it comes in.
A few comments about the bad road leading up to the hotel - do not let this put you off. It is bumpy for maximum 5 minutes and significantly better than other unpaved roads!

A resort that’s absolutely amazing. Located in quiet area with tranquil beach walks on the doorstep. Superb spacious villas constructed from local materials, naturally cooled, at one with nature. The staff are super discreet and cannot do enough for you.

Jua was the perfect place for the beach extension of our honeymoon after safari. The grounds and rooms are impeccable and the staff is beyond expectations. As noted in other reviews this area of the island isn't traditionally the best for beaches but the villas are set up on a hill so you have gorgeous views even during low tide. Hassan and the team at Jua are beyond attentive and the food they prepared for each meal was fresh and delicious. The little touches like coffee outside your door in the morning, fresh coconuts at the pool, and afternoon snacks at the pool really put this place over the top. When I booked I was concerned about the exposure to bugs or the elements given the open air nature of the villas but the cleaning staff comes three times daily and our room was always spotless and mosquito free. The main pool is spectacular and the private plunge pool in the villas were a great feature as well. I would recommend a stay here to any travelers especially those looking to recharge in a quiet and beautiful atmosphere.
