About this house rental
Located in Half Moon Bay, this attractive house for $361 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. CUTE COASTAL HOME on the ocean side of Highway 1 only 40 yards to the entrance of Poplar St. Beach and Open Space. Our home is fully remodeled 3BR+/1 BA. A WALK ON THE BEACH is less than a 5 minute stroll. COVID-19 Update June 2021 - We continue to disinfect the home between guests. With the reduction of Covid in this area and the availability of vaccinations, we are no longer blocking a night between guests. Upon arrival, you will discover that just minutes outside your door that you can walk to the BEACH, run/hike OPEN SPACE TRAILS along ocean BLUFFS, and BICYCLE along the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail. Less than 15 minutes away are an assortment of beaches perfect for walking, wading, surfing, sunning awaiting your discovery. Less than 5 minutes by car is downtown Half Moon Bay with its assortment of fantastic, quirky RESTAURANTS; shops; two major grocery stores including an organic option; golf; RITZ-CARLTON HOTEL; spas; hiking trails. Indoor amenities of our FULLY REMODELED home include a cozy sealed gas fireplace in the living room, whole house furnace for comfy temperatures, updated and fully equipped new kitchen with sea green granite counters, bathroom with a deep tub and beautiful beach themed decorations and lighting. THREE BEDROOMS include a queen sized bed in the Master Bedroom, full sized bed in Bedroom #2, and a bunkbed with two twin sized mattresses in Bedroom #3. (There is also room for a child's cot.) The living room has a couch that converts to a sofa bed and pocket door that can be closed to create a 4th bedroom area. Outdoor amenities include an OUTDOOR SHOWER with warm water (perfect for rinsing after beaching or surfing), brand new BBQ GRILL in a fenced backyard, BACKYARD FIREPIT with comfy adirondack chairs, and a pretty natural stone slate patio in the front yard. KID FRIENDLY home with Graco NEW Pack-N-Play CHILD'S PLAY YARD. Also, kids locks, books, crayons available. This home and location has a special feel being close to the ocean that is hard to capture in writing. We loved this cute, cozy, Beach cottage so near the beach trail. We were able to walk the trail every morning enjoying the massive surf and saltly breezes. The full kitchen was well equipped to assist us in preparing our assigned dishes for the Thanksgiving family get together. The two ovens were appreciated!
Everything was perfect from the warmth of the fireplace, to the comfy beds, to the abundance of the supplies. And thanks also for the welcoming bottle of wine!

Very clean comfortable house close to the beach with many amenities. Everything we needed for the beach, cooking at home or just enjoying the neighborhood. I've been to Half Moon Bay many times over the past 25 years which has included hotels, B&B, etc. This was probably the most enjoyable stay.
Communication with the owner was easy and timely. The quiet neighborhood was a pleasure. Great location. We will be back for another beach getaway soon.

Most of all, we appreciated the high standard of uncluttered organization and cleanliness in every room in the house, especially the kitchen. The thoughtful and meticulous arrangement of the house was evident and made for a calm and peaceful visit. Instead of stepping into a house full of old, mismatched discards, we saw the intentional placement of the contents in all areas of your property.
We kept busy in San Mateo, Oakland, and San Francisco visiting family and sites that we missed out on the walk to the beach down the street and the firepit and the BBQ in the backyard. But we leave Half Moon Bay with gratitude for our host.❣️

We enjoyed our stay tremendously! The proximity to the beach and bike trails allowed us to just leave the car parked in the driveway, and avoid the hassle of loading/unloading the car with kids, bikes and sand. According to my Garmin watch, house to beach parking lot was a quarter mile. Short stroll!!
The house was very clean, organized and very nicely appointed. It has everything you need for the whole family to enjoy downtime—fast internet, XBox, toys, books, DVD player, music player with in-wall speakers, USB ports in the bedroom lamps for charging your devices. The kitchen is complete with all necessary appliances, plates/utensils along with most spices/condiments you need. The kids enjoyed the outdoor shower with hot water, making cleanup after the beach very convenient. Light switches were labeled so you don’t have to guess! Garage had sufficient space to store our four bikes so we didn’t have to store them outside and lock them. The washing machine and dryer were large enough for a couple days’ worth of clothes for our family of two adults and twin 8 year olds.
Communication with the owner was fast—lightning fast—which I appreciated very much.
We also met their neighbor on the last night—they were very nice and felt us welcome. Some VRBO neighbors in houses we stayed in the past were snobbish and made us feel unwelcome in the neighborhood. But these neighbors even chatted with me—with a smile.
Would we stay there again? Absolutely!

We rented bikes at Bike Works (groupon) and did kayaks/paddleboards at Half Moon Bay Kayak Co (groupon again). Both great experiences. The house was better than the pictures... more chairs in the living room area. We hope to return...

We loved how close the house was to the beach and the Coastal trail. Everything we needed was within walking distance as we didn't have a car. The bus stops nearby as well. The pull-out couch became a very comfortable bed creating a private bedroom at night for one or two folks. There is only one bathroom which we first thought might become an issue - but it was never a problem. John was easy to communicate with, helped us when we arrived early and we truly appreciate this little house.
