I am so disappointed in Booking.com; I have had good experiences, staying in reliable places before., And no one had cre
NOTHING
EVERYTHING: it was dirty, reeked of cigarette smoke, not as pictured, and nowhere to park. We spent almost a half an hour, looking for a place to leave the car before we even approach the building, which wasn’t properly marked. This was a horrible experience.

Great location to stay for low-maintenance travelers
The location is wonderful. Walking distance from the beach. Everyone we interacted with at the apartment was very nice. The apartment is not a luxury apartment, but it had a couch, microwave, hot plate, mug, plate, forks and knives, frying pan, pot, iron, dish soap, hand soap, and tv. I could not figure out the tv, that was probably my fault. I am assuming if you are travelling here, you know it is an area with many Russian, Georgian, and Ukrainian immigrants and English is not the main language spoken on the street. I loved getting to know the culture in the neighborhood and I think I'm 5 lbs heavier from all the cheese, baked goods, and lamb I ate. There is so much good food around. Neighborhood next to the apartment very safe feeling at night and pleasant to walk our dog we travelled with. Our very nice neighbor had a bird in a cage that lived in the back and a cute rottweiler puppy. I thought this was charming and more interesting than staying at a hotel. The room was clean. It was small like all New York stays, but managed to fit in quite a few amenities in the space.
I was initially thrown by being expected to pay cash, which I also could not do, but they made a work around for me and were able to put it on my card. After staying in the neighborhood for a few days, there are many cash-only businesses and this seemed less out of place even if it is generally unusual to encounter from somewhere you book on this site. It is a bit cheaper to pay cash, if I stay again I will probably plan on that and feel comfortable doing so. The room I was in also was not the one in the photos, but smaller without the street facing windows and a smaller shower and table. The mattress would be much better with a topper because you can feel the coils through the sheet. The bedding is very basic. I was a little unclear initially on how to check in, but this was quickly resolved with a phone call. There is construction and we stayed on the back of the building so getting to the room involves walking down a dark corridor under the scaffolding that does smell of dog urine (there is a code to get back there, so very safe feeling). We were travelling with a dog, so I actually appreciated the entrance not being on the street, but I do think it important to know not all the rooms have the windows that look out at the street and I could see some guests being disappointed if they were expecting a brighter room or are sensitive to dog pee smells (only outside the room, and probably not an issue when the scaffolding isn't there). The shower I think would also present some issues for older folks or people with mobility issues. There was a moldy smell in the bathroom when we checked in but it dissipated. I would stay here again because it fit our needs, but do think a bit more transparency about which room is being booked might help manage expectations. Street parking is more difficult on weekends. I might recommend the hosts add a dustpan or broom to the room because I felt bad about accidentally bringing in sand and having no way to get rid of it.

Clean and inexpensive, but lots of details missing
The owner was very nice and the place was very clean. However, from a customer service standpoint, several things were lacking:
This place is "cash only", which was not listed. I don't carry this much cash, so I was told "just go to the ATM across the street". Three service fees later, I was able to pay. The apt address - 97 - is not listed on the building. It's actually 89. I had to call three times to be let in. I had to make the beds myself. It was a good price, however don't expect amenities.

Very good
The place is great. It is like a little studio apartment. There is a stove, refrigerator and microwave. This is perfect for longer stays.
No place to hang up clothes, so the next time we will bring some over the door hooks.
