About this cottage rental
Located in Sonoma, this charming cottage for £199 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Enter a private, secluded environment and get away from the busy world in this charming, old-fashioned cottage with many Irish touches -- but also with wireless internet connection and flat-screen cable HD TV with hundreds of channels. Enjoy the easy two-block stroll to Sonoma Plaza, where you can choose from Sonoma's best restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and gift shops, also Mission St. Francis Solano, the last and northernmost mission of the California Mission Trail. The cottage is a wonderful base for taking walks to the historic Plaza, coffeeshops, wine bars and nearby vineyards. The traditionally furnished living room has a cozy, natural gas fireplace and sofa bed for additional guests for no extra charge. Our fully stocked kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals. The small room off the living room can be an office or nursery. The screened-in front porch is perfect for reading, and/or enjoying a glass of Sonoma Chardonnay. In September 2021 we built a redwood deck off the bedroom for outdoor relaxing or dining, and friendly deer are often, daily actually, sighted in the backyard pasture (they love apple cores). My wife Rose and I opened the doors of Kate Murphy’s Cottage in 1984. We have thoroughly enjoyed meeting guests from around the world and playing a part in their visit to the beautiful Sonoma Valley. It has been a singularly rewarding experience. And now, I am welcoming my son-in-law, Rick Alatorre, to the endeavor. Rick will be your contact and is looking forward to facilitating a wonderful stay for you at Kate Murphy’s. Rick and I together will ensure that your time in Sonoma is relaxing and enjoyable. Available at discount by the week, two weeks, three weeks or month, the cottage is ideal for anniversary celebrations, house hunting, visiting family and friends, or extended business trips. We have a three-day minimum stay policy. We have instituted the following protocols to further ensure the health and safety of all our guests. Our staff and cleaning crew are fully vaccinated against the COVID pandemic. We require that anyone who enters the cottage for maintenance or upkeep or cleaning be fully vaccinated. We absolutely loved our stay! The cottage was located in walking distance to Sanoma square, which was a plus. It was clean and quiet. Larry was delightful and easy to work with. We loved watching the deer play in the backyard. Would definitely go back!

We loved our time spent at the cottage and would absolutely stay again the next time we visit Sonoma. The cottage was just as described, it is cute, quaint, and charming. Larry is an amazing host and we truly enjoyed chatting with him when checking in and learning about the history of the cottage. The location can’t be beat, we easily walked to Sonoma Plaza every day. The cottage is older but has everything needed for a several night stay. The kitchen was stocked enough that we were able to make breakfast each morning. The gas fireplace kept the entire cottage cozy. We would recommend to all our friends!

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Cozy and comfortable for the two of us. Very walkable to the plaza and all the restaurants and shops. Check in could not be easier and Larry left great notes and suggestions. Deer showing up every evening to play in the back yard is not to be missed.

Cottage was perfect for an extended stay. Clean and comfortable, roomy, all amenities needed, screened in porch and a private deck in the back where you will certainly see the family of deer who reside there. Larry is the a perfect host. Respectful of your privacy while attentive to your needs and genuinely interested in your stay. Walking distance to Sonoma square. Book this now, will not regret it.

My daughter and I stayed at Kate Murphy's cottage for a long weekend while enjoying Sonoma. It was the perfect home base for our trip. The cottage was clean, comfortable and we felt right at home. Check-in was super easy and Larry introduced himself as we arrived. The bed was extremely comfortable, slept great every night. The best thing about the cottage is the location! It's just a couple blocks from the square so we easily walked to dinner, shopping, coffee, park, wine tastings. And when exhausted from our busy days, we spent the evenings relaxing on the deck watching the deer come up and eat in the meadow. We would definitely stay again!

You could not ask for a nicer spot nor for a nicer person to help you enjoy Sonoma.
Larry made us feel quite welcome and he had some wonderful suggestions to occupy our time there.

My husband and I were visiting Sonoma for a wedding and are so glad we were able to stay at Kate Murphy’s cottage! The property itself was so cozy and we were super happy to be within walking distance of the plaza. Larry was also such a wonderful host - very prompt to reply and so welcoming. Highly recommended!

Upon checking in we were greeted by a group deer around the cottage. The cottage and property gave a secluded nature feeling while still located so close to the Sonoma Square, which allowed us to easily explore Sonoma by foot.
Larry was friendly and very accommodating throughout our stay. We would highly recommend this rental.

Tucked in behind the owner's home is the cutest little cottage in Sonoma. It's got everything you need, including deer that come around to munch on grass in the evenings. A wonderful spot, very walkable to the Plaza, plus a great restaurant just a few hundred feet away. You won't be sorry.

What a cute "irish" cottage in the heart of Sonoma. The personal touches used to decorate this place really were awesome. You could feel the stories and the love in this cottage. Larry's paintings share some space on the walls as well. We were only blocks from town, very walkable. We had to share our outdoor space with a family of deer : ) and had some hawk visitors as well. Thank you Larry for sharing your Irish cottage.

We could not have enjoyed our stay more. Like staying at in a relative's house, except with an extremely comfortable bed! So many rentals these days are cold and generic - not this one. We felt completely at home and especially loved sitting in the adirondack chairs in the yard, watching a baby deer. Location is a perfect launching pad for exploring between Sonoma and Napa, and it's so nice to be able to walk into Sonoma square. Loved reading the guest book entries of people who have stayed in the cottage for over a decade! This will be our top pick whenever we return to the area.

This is our second trip to Murphy's Cottage. Charming cottage feels like home as soon as you walk in. Larry is a great host, always available and helpful. We love being able to walk to the square. Looking forward to returning soon.

The cottage was cozy and very comfortable. We could walk and reach grocery, restaurants and many activities. The best was spending an afternoon on the porch watching 6 deer hang out in the backyard. So peaceful!

My wife & I stayed at the cottage for our 18th anniversary. Larry was very accommodating in letting us check in a little early since we arrived earlier than expected. The place had everything needed for a short stay and was close to the Sonoma Town Square with lots of shopping & restaurant options to choose from. The highlight of our trip was the Napa Valley Wine Train which took us to 2 wineries and we saw some beautiful scenery. Overall we had a nice restful trip.

I had a fantastic time. This wonderful abode is within approximately 2 miles from downtown Sonoma. Therefore, it is an ideal location for tasting rooms, vineyard travel tour(s), downtown Napa (less than 25 minutes), Muir Woods (45 minutes), and even the Golden Gate Bridge (60-75 minutes).
