We loved our stay at the lodge! It was the perfect base for our Kruger safari. The rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable, we enjoyed hot showers with great water pressure. The fact the lodge was unaffected by load-shedding also meant that my partner could work remotely.
The location of the lodge is very special as there is a neighbouring nature reserve, so every day you have new visitors - we got to feed zebras, and saw kudu / impala / warthogs / monkeys and other animals coming in and out of the lodge each day - the safari experience continues even when you’re not on drives! There is also a resident bush baby and janette!
The game drives were also amazing - our guide Dirk Grove has three decades of experience and did an incredible job to get us in the right spots at right time to see the big 5 and rhinos too! We ended up doing 3 days of game drives as he was just so impressive knowledgeable - every day was different and special.
The hospitality at the lodge is unrivalled. The team prepared our breakfast each day ahead of the drives and provided ponchos and blankets for us to ensure the most comfortable start to the day.
We ate at the restaurant every evening (6 nights!) as the food was exceptional. The in house chef Ernesto made the most amazing 3 course meals every day at a reasonable price of R380 per day.
Marcel, Lizette, Trudy and Terry were also so kind to us and just wonderful people who are clearly very passionate about what they do. We had a 10/10 safari experience for a very reasonable price. Thank you so much for making our safari so special. We would love to come back soon! Iman and Harry
Cannot fault, it was perfect!

Marcel and his wife & Trudy and her husband are wonderful hosts, paying attention to every detail to offer us the best stay possible! And the Lodge is simply a corner of paradise in the middle of a nature reserve surrounded by small animals that never tire of visiting us throughout the day…
Our hosts were also very kind and understanding in allowing us to reschedule our stay dates after a last minute issue that prevented us from coming to the Lodge on our initial dates.
Wonderful stay!

First i need to thanks Marcel, the owner, to take care of me and my wife . We like the wild life in Marloth and for sure that's a place to return.

We stayed in the very comfortable family suite. Our bedroom window looked out onto the bush where we saw lots of beautiful birds and a number of wild animals go by. We were a short easy drive from Kruger for our day visit. As there are only a few rooms it was nice to sit and chat with the other guests. Plus watching the Bush Babies being fed!
All good. There is a short dirt track up to the lodge but if you are driving into Kruger you need to be prepared for a lot more of that!

I had the best experience of travelling in my whole life! My family and I felt really at home! the hosts, Marcel and Lizete are the most kind and friendly I ever met! they did everything for us to have a great stay and made the impossible turn out possible! We had Tambo airport transfer and Kruger private drive with Marina and Dirk and they were the same! Jan is also excellent safari guide! it was an incredible stay that made us forget the 24h delay of Air France and enjoyed everything. The delay of our flight made us loose 1 day of our stay and Marcel asked for the dance and singing group of Matsamo village to go to the Lodge to perform for us as an offer!!! and provide us all the documents for assurance and Air France complaint.
and the food... delicious! the big 5 and much more... fantastic! the wild animals going to the Lodge... amazing!
the employees Yoland and Jerry... always smiling! the Lodge is peaceful and comfortable and they arrange everything you desire! We have forever in our heart Marcel, Lizete, Marina and Dirk, THANK YOU!

We came back after our first stay a year ago and loved it again. Now we did 2 nights, so we had the braai on the 2nd night. Lizie (hope to write your name correct) did an excellent job and is a great cook. For R380 pp you get so much food for dinner. Trust us, you can skip lunch 😉.
The room is spacious and had everything you need. The best feature stays the zebra's, kudu's and bushbaby's that come around the deck looking for food. Would definitely recommend to walk around during daylight. What is better than to find a giraffe on your path 😍.
Thank you Lizie, Marcel & the team. We will come back!
Nothing at all about Turaco. Just a warning for others to drive with care. When we arrived at Marloth park on the east side, there was a car overtaking us with great speed and almost hit a kudu. So please if you visit, respect the animals.

Marcel and his team are incredibly nice people. We were greeted as soon as we stepped off the car, offered a welcome drink and shown our rooms.
Rooms are spacious, spotless and the bedding is great. Xtra large beds, very comfy. Breakfast is huge and very tasty. Dinners are excellent. We had a traditional braai on day one, lamb on day 2 and an Italian dinner on day 3. Excellent food, fine cuisine, 3 course meals. We now have new friends in South Africa and cannot wait to come to Turaco again.
The pool after a long day out is also great. Just before feeding the animals in the evening.
We highly recommend Turaco and will be back, for sure.
We also highly recommend the safari drive in Kruger Park. Dirk, our guide and business partner of Turaco, has vast knowledge of the fauna and knows where to spot each type of game. Fantastic day out with him.

Breakfast was very nice. We enjoyed feeding the zebras late afternoon and seeing wild animals around the property.
I think the rate paid is too high. The lodge has a 4-star rating but I don't think the accommodation matches a 4-star.

We had an unforgettable stay at Turaco Lodge with the best hospitality you can think of.
Marcel and his team did everything to make us feel comfortable. The food was delicious, with each dish lovingly presented and garnished.
The closest gate to Kruger Nationalpark is approx. 20 minutes by car and if you come back early you can relax at the nice pool (with a nice view on the animals that are close to the lodge).
You can really feel the spirit of the wilderness as various animals step by every day.
Marcel is a great host and we can definitely recommend Turaco Lodge to everyone.

Marcel and Z made us feel at home from the minute we got there. Staff friendly and polite. Breakfast and Dinners were to die for. Large portions no chance of starvation. Room clean and comfortable. Decor soft on the eye. Felt like home away from home.
Will definitely recommend Turaco Lodge to family and friends. Just make sure you visit longer than 2 days.
I'm definitely going back for a longer visit.
I really can't think of anything that I didn't like.
Turaco Lodge definitely exceeded my expectations..

We received a very warm welcome on arrival - the hosts are incredibly friendly and really do everything they can to make sure you feel at home. The patio is a pretty special spot to view all of the wildlife around the property. We also arranged to have dinner at the Lodge, which was very tasty! Our room was clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Marina our host went out of her way to assist before and after our arrival at the lodge. The hospitality from her and the husband was beyond exceptional. The breakfast and Christmas dinner was delicious and homey ☺️ We had the best time ever with the family.

The place in very quiet, in the middle of the nature of Marloth Park, where you can enjoy the animals' visits. All the spaces are very clean and well-kept. The hosts are really friendly and do all their best to make you feeling at home. Marina's good is delicious, strongly reccomended!

This is the place to be, waking up to wild animal and being able to feed them was a bonus for us. The host is amazing( kind and willing to go an extra mile to make sure the guests are happy)
We enjoyed the food( loved the carrots more).

Great location. Such a lovely welcome from the hosts Marina and Dirk. Kudu, bush buck and warthog came up to the lodge patio - special interaction. The rooms are super clean, spacious with a very comfy bed. Kruger game drive organized by the hosts who also helped with an extra blankie for the rather cold drive into Kruger National Park. Turaco is perfect for the solo traveler. Dirk helped me plan my self drive excursions into Kruger. I couldn't be happier with my visit even extended my stay. Will definitely be back! Thank you Marina and Dirk - you are awesome!

The hosts are incredibly warm and welcoming. They go the extra mile to make guests feel at home. The room was cozy and cleaned every day, we were provided with fresh towels daily as well. Thanks so much for giving us ponchos when we went to the Kruger, we would have been frozen without it! They even packed a lunch box for our Kruger game drive, very nice.
Liked everything, but a hair dryer in the room would be nice, looked for it, maybe I just missed it.

Derk and Marina make such perfect hosts. The rooms are modern and have everything you could want / need. The property is in Marloth Park and there are grazing animals all around the road of the property, such as Giraffe and Zebra. we had impalas visit us for breakfast, which was magical. Derk’s knowledge is invaluable and we’d really recommend a tour with him! The property is a half an hour drive to Crocodile Bridge Gate :)

- If you love animals as much as we do: this is the place to be! A variety of grazers roam free through the park (which is the garden, no fences). In one night we saw: 10 kudu's (1 male and 9 females), 2 bushbucks, multiple impala's and 1 genet cat all from the porch!
- Marina & Dirk are such lovely hosts who will make sure that you get everything you need and even the things you had not even thought about. For example: we love animals. So they gave us natural food to feed the grazers. What an amazing experience was that!!
- Marina is a great cook. We had the meatball pasta for dinner and you can taste her Italian love for food. If you stay a 2nd night, you can expect a braai for the 2nd dinner. We wished we had stayed there another night...
- The only thing that maybe was missing was some fruit at breakfast. But I prefer to feed a kudu several banana's than have it for myself ;)

After a long self-drive through Kruger Park we immediately got a super warm welcome from host Dirk. Feeling of coming home. In the late afternoon Dirk took us for a spontaneously ride along the Crocodile River (natural border between Marloth Park and the Kruger National Park) with a beautiful sunset as dessert.
In the evening we met the lovely hostess Marina who prepared a delicious meal for us.
Braai on the 2nd evening prepared by Dirk was also great!
Room was spotless, spacious and fully equipped.
As a bonus spontaneous visit of various animals in the front yard of the lodge.
Golden tip: arrange a (private) game drive through Turaco lodge (incl breakfast) and you’ll have a guaranteed great day. We had a super enthusiastic ranger with a lot of knowledge, Tiaan.
Dirk & Marina, many thanks for your warm hospitality!
