Great location, great staff and great breakfast. 1 Charlotte Street is a large property and consequently, we ended up meeting a lot of the other guests which I loved. It felt like we made friends while we were here. We jumped off the ferry at Port Ellen to 1 Charlotte Street just around the corner, and then headed straight to the Distillery Trail which took us to Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg along a beautiful coastal path.
The bathroom was slightly on the basic side, but overall the room was great.

Decor of room and public spaces. Great breakfast and friendly staff.
Bedroom was a little on the small side, but comfy.

Friendly greeting, we had been notified in advance that there were stairs to the room and staff helped carry the bags. Rooms clean, comfortable, nice amenities, incredible view, lovely breakfast.

Everything about the property is great--the staff, the accommodations, the breakfast, the room. Caroline, the proprietor, is very hands-on and contentious and the location is really good. Itʻs not in the middle of town but right at the edge where the view of the coast is really pretty. Easy walking distance to eateries (1 block) and sundry stores, and a cute little park next door for kids. If the weather is nice there are lots of walking trails with incredible sights.
The only critique I have was that there were not enough hooks for the towels in the bathroom but that wasnʻt a deal breaker by any means. I think the owners are still renovating the newly-purchased property.

Lovely staff who responded to my pre-stay enquiries quickly and positively and a warm, friendly reception when we arrived. We were on a cycling tour and they were happy to store our bikes (and others') securely during our stay. We were able to drop off our luggage and bikes on the morning of our stay to walk to the distilleries, then leave our bags and go for a ride before catching the afternoon ferry. Breakfast was also good and well organised. Will definitely stay here again.
The bed was a little soft and there was no heating in the bathroom, but the friendly staff and location more than made up for it.

I really enjoyed the location on the water.
I didn’t like how there was no hand soap as well as there were towels for one person when we had two in the room. There was also no way to call the front desk.
