Where to begin... it feels like its out of this world. Pure, authentic Costa Rica. The owner received us with open arms. He is a real character, was a good laugh! And then we met William and Zulay the couple that manage the houses, lovely lovely people. Zulay cooks very good! Delicioso!
The house up on a hill is breathtaking, stairway to heaven and everything you need is in it. What an experience to sleep amongst the jungle residents.
The people in the village are so friendly and visit the little pulperia. The owner will tell you about the gold they find there ( dos Brazos is a gold miners village).
Unfortunately we had a flat tire but the owner immediately helped us and William changed it for us.
The night tour with Kerley is also to be recommended. We saw a lot of animals and an owl was screeching in the night. Lovely!
If you are looking for a special off the grid place: go to Amazonita lodge! Its wonderful.

Absolutely amazing accommodation! It’s incredibly clean and we felt like home immediately. The host is a welcoming and super nice person with local recommendations. We absolutely recommend this to anyone! Thank you for having us :)

If fly to Puerto Jimenez then must rent a 4x4 vehicle as very remote. Also no cell phone or Wi Fi at the property.

A beautiful, private and airy wood cabana with tile floors, perched on a hill with a spectacular view out over the rainforest. Dawn serenades you with the bird and howler monkey chorus, as you sip tea/coffee and swing in the porch hammock. An aerie retreat after a long hike on the easily accessible trails into Corcovado NP.
Zulay was amazingly generous and accommodating, cooking vegetarian meals for us, including a foot long sandwich for our to-go picnic lunch.
Not a big deal, but just FYI no wifi in the cabana, spotty wifi at the restaurant, but great wifi at the Parque HQ in Dos Brazos 300 m away.

The tours that we took were run by enthusiastic and professional guides. We went horseback riding along the Rio Tigres to a local swimming spot. We also saw lots of amphibians and bugs during the night hike, and a great variety of birds during the birdwatching tour. These tours were the highlight of our stay in Dos Brazos.
We stayed in Casa Zenon, which included an outdoor kitchen, for which we paid $20 extra per night.
On our arrival, we saw that one burner on the three-burner hot plate was marked as not working. We quickly discovered, when trying to boil water for tea, that the other burners were malfunctioning and burning inside the unit. Fortunately, a staff member was on site, assessed the situation, and disabled the hot plate. This left us without the ability to boil a kettle or cook until it was replaced the next day with a "new" old unit.
On our second day it became obvious that the refrigerator was not cooling adequately, and we were unable to adjust the setting to colder. By the third day, it had stopped cooling, and our food was spoiling. However, neither the manager nor any staff were at the property to deal with the situation.
As there is no wifi at the property and no signal for data, we went to the community centre to use the free wifi available there to contact the manager. However the wifi was not working, which apparently is not uncommon, leaving us with no way to contact staff to either repair or replace the refrigerator.
We decided that we could not stay at Amazonita the next night with our food spoiled, and no support from staff in dealing with the situation. But again, we had no way to contact staff or Booking.com to notify them that we had to leave early.
Communication prior to our arrival at Amazonita was great, and they shared an informative online Welcome Book. But after our arrival, we were on our own. The manager was never on site during our stay, and we could not contact him. There is no wifi or signal for data. William and Zulay, the couple that seem to do all the work, are not always present.
Communication was also an issue when we wanted to confirm tours that we had pre-booked. Fortunately Zulay was able to contact Kerley to come to the site the evening of our arrival to confirm our schedule and start times.

Zuley was fabulous. She was extremely attentive to our needs and very gracious.
Paschal was unresponsive. I texted, emailed and spoke to him. He was supposed to set up a trip to Corcovado National Park and get in touch with Kerley, the guide, and did neither.

Right in the forest - no glass in windows and quite basic but very lovely. Nets keep the mosquitos at bay and great to wake up to the sounds of the jungle. 3 lodges, large 'outdoor' kitchen and simple food (fish or chicken for dinner, 'traditional' breakfast). No wifi or mobile signal. Guide speaks good English and very knowledgable.
Road to lodge (last c.7km) is VERY bumpy and I would recommend a 4 wheel drive in the rainy season. Some huge holes and our Toyota Yaris only just made it by getting the passengers to walk some of the time!

The Location was outstanding. From our lodge we could observe animals like spider monkeys and tucans. The lodge had also a small kitchen (eventough it was not mentioned in the description).
Dos Brazos was a really fascinating and peaceful place where we got quickly in touch with locals. Everyone knows each other there :)
The people working at and with Amazonita are absolutely georgous. The food was amazing, they helped us organizing trips and daily activities. We received tons of informations about the area and about tours you can do there or at Corcovado. We would have loved to stay longer but it was already booked :)
Also, we wanted to go to Sirena but had to cancel the trip while being on the boat due to bad weather conditions. We did not have to pay anything (except the entrance reservations) eventough our guide had to get up at 4am and we already spent an hour on the boat (which was covered by Amazonita). I think this example shows how welcoming and caring the people are. We can only recommend staying there.
We had no problem with it but one should not be afraid about small insects and bats (none in our bed). Instead you should be able to appreciate the nature around you.
The stuff knows a lot about the animals and are able to help with unpleasant guests. We felt really safe because we knew they could help us anytime.
In my opinion, one should stay at least 4 nights to fully enjoy the location and the area.

Zephirin has created a paradise at the end of the world, which is nicely taken care of by Zulay and her husband. It is really at the end of any roads and tracks going into the jungle (4WD recommended). But this is what we liked most. We stayed in the last cabin with a huge rain forest behind us. Our cabin was open, though very nice and clean. We could stay endlessly on the terrasse, observing the rain forest with all its animals. Never do a Costa Rica trip without Corcovado and Amazonita Ecolodge!!! It was clearly our highlight (and we have seen a lot other places)!

This place is one of the best experiences I made, staying in the middle of the jungle around trees, flowers and animals. It was an amazing adventure which I can highly recommend. We had great breakfast & dinner in the Restaurant from Zulay and her husband (in the Amazonitas Location) listening to the jungle noises and enjoying the breakfast and dinner in a very special location. Also Zulay is doing great massages, in this breathtaking environment it’s special.
Zulay organized us a 9 hours jungle tour with Jose (corcovadoeltigre.com), this was by far our highlight during our 3 week trip. We saw so many animals, Jose explained us a lot about the flowers and animals. Also we got invited for dinner from the parents of the owner in their place, they were lovely and we had delicious food.
This place you shouldn’t miss during your Costa Rica trip.

We chose Amazonita for a real jungle experience at the end of our tour of Costa Rica. It was exactly what we hoped for. Set in the middle of the jungle next to Corcovado National Park, we woke to the sound of birds at howler monkeys each morning at sunrise, and in rocking chairs or hammocks on our veranda watching fireflies as the sun went down. Bats occasionally flew in through open (glassless) windows, to rest in the apex of the roof and were no trouble at all.
Our bed was completely encased in mosquito netting and once we had got used to the sounds of the jungle, we found we had no trouble sleeping "in the wild", especially after our long hikes in Corcovado. We did the El-Tigre hike with a local guide Kerley organised by Amazonita, the Sirena hike organised by local tour company Osawild - both were excellent. We also did a mangrove kayak tour from Puerto Jimenez with Osawild, and a local night tour with Kerley which was interesting but you could give it a miss as it doesn't compare with the other trips.
The hosts, Zulay and William, were so friendly and helpful and great cooks, so we chose to eat dinner and breakfast at Amazonita throughout our stay and Zulay kindly made us packed lunches (one meat, one vegetarian) for our day trips.
Of all our trips, we felt that Amazonita gave us the most authentic and immersive Costa Rican jungle experience and was made very special by our lovely hosts. Highly recommended, we loved it.
It's probably time for a new mattress on the double bed in our room. Otherwise, the room was superb.
You'll need a 4x4 to get to Amazonita - its a few kilometres off the main road, up a dirt track with plenty of pot holes you have a dodge, and the final ascent it quite steep and bumpy. However, it's worth it! Allow 30-40 minutes for getting down into Puerto Jimenez for tours.

Amazing bungalow in the jungle!! best accomodation we stayed at in Costa Rica. Perfectly located at the very end of Dos Brazos and at the edge of Corcovado. Super close to the Bolita trails (highly recommended). well equiped kitchen. Perfect stay for anyone who enjoys nature/jungle. Even though the bungalows are open and at the edge of the jungle it was very clean.
Either Pro or Con: No Wifi in the bungalows but in the restaurant. For us that was perfect for a relaxing stay. Staff is very friendly. Only 30-45 mins to Puerto Jimenez by car
Bumpy road toward Amazonita but not a real issue

Beautiful location, with amazing nature all around. The family there is so so helpful, and the food is really good. It is a magical experience, where you get to sleep and be in nature.
There is no cell phone service, nor WiFi, which isn’t bad but can be hard to contact family to let them know you’re safe. Also I highly recommend a SUV when you are there.

Our stay at Amazonita was nothing short of magical.
The amazing Zulay accommodated our vegan diet. Even though we had a language barrier (sorry our Spanish was so bad) she made sure with the translate app that she knew what foods to avoid!! She made three amazing home made Costa Rican vegan meals for us!! Including vegetables and fruits that we did not know existed. She also recommended an amazing hikes for us. Thank you so much Zulay.
We especially loved Jose and his amazing service. He helped us with our bags on the climb up to our lodge and literally anything else we needed. We already miss joyful and kind spirit so much!! Thank Jose for the beautiful jewellery! (from Carly with the purple hair)
If you want to really experience the Costa Rican Jungle & the unbelievable Costa Rican hospitality, stay here. Still dreaming about how wonderful everything was.
A few FYIs
- there is no wifi or service but there is a wifi hot spot 30 minutes into the Bolita hike from the lodge
- the directions we got in English I think were a bad translation. Here are better ones: Coming from Puerto Jimenez, drive towards La Palma. After the Rio Tigre Bridge, take the first left. There are signs here pointing to the lodging options. Keep driving this bumpy dirt road for a while. Eventually you reach Gallardo. In Gallardo, you will see a sign on your right for Corcovado National Park. Turn left at the road opposite this sign. (there is a road before this one with a sign on the right that says "Gallardo 300m" - do not turn down this road)
After the left turn, follow this road until it ends. You will see a big sign for Amazonita Lodge at the end of the road. Turn RIGHT. Keep following this road, past the bridge, all the way to the end. You cannot drive any further and you will be at Amazonita! Definitely recommend 4x4 vehicle but we made it just fine with our 2-wheel drive car.
Everything was perfect!

Absolutely incredible experience. Room is open air, and a very unique and delightful experience. Embrace the environment in such an unforgettable way! Zulay and William and staff are so nice and accommodating. We so enjoyed our time with them. I cannot recommend this property highly enough!
Everything was great.

We rented the larger home for three nights. Zulai and her family are truly delightful hosts and really helpful. Unforgettable jungle lodge experience, with the jungle directly from (in!) the house. Interesting village, plenty to do around - gold-digging was fun with the kids. Well equipped kitchen - make sure you stop at the supermarket in Puerto Jimenez. We arrived by taxi, this was not a problem.
Payment by cash only for everything (stay and food). The reservation on booking does indeed say "cash only", but this was so unexpected for such a large amount that we did not see it - an advance notice from the (off-site) management would have helped! We had to taxi back to Puerto Jimenez to get cash to pay. We still give the highest scores given the extraordinary place and the great hosts, but this payment issue was annoying, to say the least.

The house is in the middle of the jungle. There are no windows but the beds are surrounded by mosquito nets. It was totally amazing to go to sleep and wake up with the jungle sounds - it can be very loud but it is fascinating. You really feel as a part of the jungle. We even saw a golfo dulce poison dart frog right in front of our porch. The kitchen has evything you need. Zulai the housekeeper is very nice. She made us a delicious dinner and she is a great cook. Be aware that you will definitely need a 4wheel drive car to get to house. And also be aware that you will „share“ the house with some spiders, bats and a lot of insects thus there are no windows.

Wonderful place to stay in the forest, right at the edge of Corcovado and in the lovely village of Dos Brazos. The cabin was clean and comfortable, in the perfect location for watching birds and animals, the bats kept the bugs away! We loved being so remote and peaceful and really enjoyed meeting Zulay and William and hearing their story. They were wonderful hosts, Zulay cooked great food for us and they told us where to walk and what to see, their daughter is a guide and is able to offer guided walks and night tours in Bolita. This is a great place for people interested in seeing traditional rural Costa Rica and contributing to a local community eco -tourism initiative.
Be aware - the driveway up to the cabins is very steep, you will need a 4-wheel drive!
