Super séjour dans une ville magnifique! Beaucoup de magasisn et musés ouvert le dimanche. Top!

Personnel très sympathique. Chambre très correct et confortable avec pas mal d’équipement (planche a repasser avec fer, baignoire,etc.). Petit déjeuné très bon avec la possibilité de demander des crêpes faites "minute", œuf sur le plat etc. Le café est très bon, le personnel le fait directement. Le quartier de l'hôtel est très agréable, pas trop de bruit la nuit.

L’hôtel n'est pas tout jeune mais cela ne nous a pas dérangé. Prix fort élevé, comme tout autres logements sur Amsterdam. Pas de parking inclus malgré le prix (mais je l'avais vu en ligne avant la réservation), nous nous sommes donc parqué dans un parking public, pas dérangeant mais du coup des frais en plus.

A lovely hotel with friendly staff in a great location

We stayed in a triple room which was a good size and well maintained. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The location was excellent; I the heart of the city and only a short walk from all the must see areas.

There was a lift but due to the quirky layout of the building, not all areas can be accessed from the lift. We were in the 4th floor and had to get off the lift on the 2nd floor and then walk up the stairs to get to our room. We didn’t mind this but it might bother some people.

Wij verbleven onlangs 1 nachtje in het Dikker & Thijs hotel en waren ontzettend tevreden.

Prima hotel met prima locatie, dichtbij alles en makkelijk te bereiken. Het is niet modern maar heeft alle faciliteiten die nodig zijn. Het ontbijt was ook zeer verzorgd en heel lekker.

bedlinnen versleten en niet proper, kamer onvoldoende gepoetst, chipszak onder het bed, papiertjes in een lade.

Family trip to Amsterdam

Very big family room. Amazing view. Amazing location. Complementary drink in the room was a very nice touch. Fresh towels daily and beds were made daily. Such a beautiful bathroom 😍

There was a lot of noise at night. We expected this given the location and old building. We had ear plugs which solved the problem

Central and comfortable stay in Amsterdam

The staff is super friendly, the room was clean, everything was up to our expectations. Breakfast has a wide range to offer ☺️, but it could still be problematic if someone is following a strict vegan dietary.

We know that it isn't a permanent situation and the hotel can't do much about it but currently (March 2024) there is a huge construction site in front of the building which is noticeably in terms of noise in the morning and during the day.

Super verblijf gehad in het centrum van Amsterdam.

Dat je de sleutel in moest leveren bij de receptie als je het gebouw verliet. Heel fijn dat je dan zelf niet verantwoordelijk bent als je hem per ongeluk kwijt raakt. Want daar heb ikzelf nogal een handje van.

Wat ik heel jammer vond was dat ik niet de kamer had die op de foto stond, maar gelukkig was de kamer net zo mooi en de bedden lagen echt hemels!

Very nice hotel right in the heart of Amsterdam.

All the staff were very friendly and accommodating and could answer any questions we had. Breakfast was Good. Rooms were clean and tidy and stocked up while we were out during the day. The hotel is also located right next to a tram stop which was very useful.

Rooms were a little bit noisy ! You can hear every noise from outside and from people on the inside.

Emplacement idéal

L'emplacement : idéal. Les principaux monuments sont entre 10 et 20 min à pieds de l'hôtel, et l'arrêt de tram est juste devant. Le personnel est vraiment serviable et agréable. Les chambres sont propres, et disposes d'une machine à café, mini frigo, TV et coffre-fort. Enfin, le petit déjeuner est satisfaisant : un buffet salé / sucré (petit, mais suffisant), avec œufs / omelettes faits à la demande.

Les chambres sont assez mal isolées : on entendant les voisins du dessus marcher sur le plancher qui grinçait un peu, et nos voisines rire. De plus, c'est peut-être un détail, mais les 2 seules prises électriques disponibles étaient d'un coté du lit : pas pratique pour charger son téléphone quand on est de l'autre coté.

Room 310. When you opened the right-hand wardrobe door it hit the main power switch and turned of all power, so lighting, power and TV went off! So always remember what channel number you were watching! (Not really a complaint).

Outdated, dirty and no service… owners clearly know they have an A+ location.

The location

This has been the most disgusting and outdated hotel i have ever stayed at. For €425 per night you may expect at least a CLEAN ROOM. When I entered the room, which I had to struggle to get to with all my luggage and climbing over the stairs with ZERO help of any staff. I entered a room that felt and SMELT so horrible that I had to spent the next 15 min cleaning the room and going out to get an air refresher. The room was also located in an area that had no reach for the WIFI connection, so I spent a lot of money on my data prepaid card. The shower in the bath tub was so small that I could hardly wash my hair and move around. The entire bathroom was soo dirty. The refrigerator was off when I entered and was full of mildew and smelt horrible. And the floor….. carpet throughout the ENTIRE hotel…. Horrible… just horrible. It was unfortunate that I had an important reason to stay at this specific location, but if it hadn’t been for that, I would have done everything to try to cancel the room and stay somewhere else. This place is hospitality done wrong in every single way. Stay far far away from this hotel!!

Don’t judge a Book by its Cover

perfect location. great from the outside.

everything inside (apart from the very kind staff) is disappointing. this used to be a grand place, with a renowned restaurant. all the original features, the restaurant included, are gone. it’s utterly charmless. a big disappointment. given for what it is, it‘s overpriced.

it was decent room

nice staff. nice breakfast and pleasant dining room.

busy street which was dirty and full of trash. had to wait to enter hotel at night. room was not pleasant. tired furniture

Disappointing : old fashioned can be cosy but here it is faded glory.

Reception staff was friendly, breakfast was basic but ok. Location at Prinsengracht is very good but next to a bridge where trams are crossing from early in the morning.

In general : overrated with 4 stars, price/quality overpriced. Comfort in the room was very basic, bathroom out of date.

My trip was about the art of the Dutch Masters and that was marvelous.

Location.

I was charged extra for a canal view which was littered with a mass of construction equipment. While not the hotels fault, I should not have been charged extra for a view that did not exist. Luxury price for simply nice, old hotel.

it was ok but I would try somewhere else.

Breakfast was good and location good.

our room was ok but our traveling companions had a bad room. To get to it you needed to go up and down several sets of stairs with bags. no view. They also got a bad smell in room and had to change. Next room was better location but smaller.

Pleasant place to stay while visiting the city sights.

One room had great views over Amsterdam. Comfortable and quiet. Great location. Helpful and friendly staff, and owner.

Shame the two rooms were not close, as I had requested well in advance - 1st floor and 5th floor. Gymn centre very limited. Hotels in this part of Amsterdam are very expensive.

Good for a short break where you don’t plan to lounge around.

The location was fantastic. Easy access to everything and close to tram stop.

I felt the price was high, particularly as a room only rate. There’s quite a lot of noise during the night from people passing and at the tram stop, so unable to keep the window open.
