Pets Negotiable Windsurfing & Kite Sailing: Padre Island is one of the best Windsurfing and Kite boarding destinations in the world, and this house has one of the best and most convenient launches on the Island. It's a 75ft walk from the garage to the walk-in launch (no sea wall). The launch is located on the point of land on the Island that reaches furthest out into the Laguna Madre so the wind shadow is minimized. The garage can store 14 rigged sails on hooks hanging from the ceiling. Watch your friends from the deck ! (If you know the Island, I don't mean to take anything away from 'The Flats', but as far as a launch that is close to your house and rigged gear, this is the best there is.) Bird Watching: Padre Island is known for great bird watching. Visit the new $6.5 million dollar birding center just north of us. And we have a small wetland just behind our house that has offered an array of egrets, herons, Great Blue Heron, Rosy Spoonbills, Osprey, kingfishers and more. We were a family & friends of 10.. Everyone enjoyed there own space! The living and kitchen area was perfect for all of us! The deck was the best for sunsets. A 4 minute walk to the beach and restaurants..shopping ! Thank you ! Wonderful trip!

We stayed for a week at The Blue House and it was beyond our expectations. The house was clean, the amenities were plentiful and the host Dave was so kind and went above and beyond for us. Everything worked perfectly. He had everything we needed and more. The house was spacious and we actually spent an entire day just lounging at home. We walked to the beach one day and it was maybe a 10 minute walk. Our kids took the kayaks out and had a blast. There were 8 people in our group 3 adults and our kids ranging from 19 to 5. We all agreed this was the best house we have stayed at. Oh and the fireworks from the front patio were perfect! No need to fight traffic and the crowds. Thank you so much Dave!! We are hoping to come back next 4th of July.

We stayed for a week at The Blue House and it was beyond our expectations. The house was clean, the amenities were plentiful and the host Dave was so kind and went above and beyond for us. Everything worked perfectly. He had everything we needed and more. The house was spacious and we actually spent an entire day just lounging at home. This was our first time to ever rent a vacation home. The property was everything we hoped for and fit our family to a T. Communication with the owners was not only excellent but their knowledge of the area was immensely value able . It was a trip our family will always remember.

Stay here!
A large, relaxing home with a beautiful view of Laguna Madre. Our family of four enjoyed the quiet location, used the kayaks on Laguna Madre and took walks over to the gulf-side beach each day. Owner gets extra high marks for communication and hospitality. Absolutely recommend and plan to stay there again.

We are Canadians, who arrived at Big Blue before the COVID 19 pandemic had gotten to the dangerous phase it eventually did. The home was large and well maintained, with all required accommodations available and more. We enjoyed the weather and the proximity to the beach, shopping, and interesting activities during the first 2 wks. Unfortunately, like many other out-of-country vacationers, we had to pack up and leave 2 wks earlier than we planned, due to the growing virus crisis. The bright spot in all of this was that we were fortunate to be dealing with a very reasonable and accommodating owner. This definitely softened the disappointment we experienced in our vacation being cut in half.

Great Location on SPI
Wonderful house on SPI, great location, short walk to Gulf side beaches, quiet neighborhood. Central to restaurants, shops and grocery store. Owner is a great communicator, checked several time on how we were, when we had one minor issue he responded within two hours and took care of the issue immediately. My wife said this is the best equipped kitchen on any place we have ever rented. Bikes, kayaks for use, 10 yards to put in on bayside. Would have liked to rent property for next year, but is already rented, but will definitely try to stay here again.

Better than the pictures can show!
What a great property! The house was very clean, well taken care of, and decorated perfectly. The kitchen was very well stocked and the spice drawer amazing. The wrap around porch is great for morning coffee or evening wine gatherings. Especially like the location - far less traffic and away from the crazy party areas and still just a few minutes from anyway in the city.

Beyond any Expectations
There aren't enough positive words in the dictionary to describe our experience during our stay at the Big Blue Beach House! We have rented several properties through VRBO/Homeaway, and for the most part have had good experiences, but nothing compares to our experience here. We stayed there for two months in February and March, so we had plenty of time to evaluate our experience. The house is somehow gorgeous and comfortable at the same time. It was spotlessly clean throughout the entire home. The kitchen is not only stocked with anything and everything you'll need, but in addition, it's completely organized with labels of what goes where, so you won't be searching high and low for that spatula or pizza cutter you need! So, obviously the house is amazing (oh, don't get me started on the awesome deck!!), but if that isn't enough in itself, the owner Dave literally goes above and beyond in every possible way. He provides, in writing, every detail you need to know about the house so once you get there, you won't have any problems. However, if you do have any questions, his response is practically immediate. On top of that, he provides you with a "South Padre Island Orientation" package that lists, in detail, restaurants and attractions they recommend on the island. I referred to that list constantly when we were trying to decide where to go! He is sincerely concerned about making sure you have a great time while you're there. A portion of our stay happened to be during Spring Break, which was a new experience for us. Dave knew this, and went out of his way to call us to make sure we weren't having any issues and gave us a few pointers of how to best deal with it (FYI, we had absolutely no problems during that time, and actually enjoyed talking with a lot of the kids). Bottom line is, stop reading this and go request this property NOW, because you will not find anything remotely as nice as this on the island, especially for the price!

A great home for a large family and Pet friendly!
Dave has a beautiful home with all the creature comforts you could possibly want - Situated steps from the bay for kayaking, Windsurfing, Paddle Boarding and amazing sunsets! Home has a huge kitchen with all you need for family meals, 5 bedrooms with 2 Master Suites! Absolutely a great place for a large family to get away together and have ample privacy. We look forward to staying here again next year!

A MUST STAY!!!
This place is AMAZING!! Our large family stayed here very comfortably. The deck was awesome!! The views were breathtaking. We loved watching the fireworks sitting on the deck. Everything was clean and just simply amazing. The location was great and all of the extra things made our trip even better. The owner, Dave, was super helpful and the communication was great. We hope to stay here again on our next trip to the island.

Amazing!
We brought our family together to renew our vows, this year makes 35 :-) The house was perfect, the weather did not cooperate so we had the ceremony in the dinning/living room and it was perfect! The personal touches and communication from the owners were unbelievable! A must stay for South Padre!!!

Fantastic!
The Big Blue Beach house was everything it was advertised to be and more. Definitely the nicest house I have rented to date. It is spacious, clean and well equipped. The owner of the house was the most helpful owner I have ever encountered and provided a wealth of information on how to use the appliances in the home and how to make the most of a visit to South Padre Island. The location is extremely convenient and located on a very quiet street. The deck space on the second floor is wonderful and provided outstanding views of the bay and the sunsets.

Great Home for a Family Vacation
Our entire family met up and stayed for a week at this large family home. We had a great time. Plenty of room for everyone. It was located on a nice quiet street close to everything. The house had everything we needed plus more. The kids enjoyed using the boards at the beach and we were able to watch the fireworks from the deck. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone who wants to spend time on Padre. The owner Dave was so helpful and great to work with and his "Island Orientation" booklet was wonderful.

Amazing Place!
The big blue beach house was perhaps the nicest place I have ever stayed on a vacation! It was beautifully decorated, well designed, exceptionally maintained, and super efficient. There were 4 of us staying there, although it sleeps 10, and all of us were impressed. Since we came for kiteboarding and the wind did not blow very much for our stay, no one complained because our accomodations were so wonderful. We watched sunsets from the deck every night, and had coffee on the deck in the morning, and watched movies on the giant TV at night. It was also nice to have things stocked such as spices, condiments, garbage bags, as well as a supply of both beach towels, bath towels, and paddle boards/ kayak for our use in case the wind didn't blow. It was also nice to have a detailed orientation of things to do on the island from a "locals" point of view. The owner was always available by phone for questions or advice, as he really wanted us to enjoy our stay. We will definitely be back!

PERFECTLY ACCOMODATING
This is the second time we have stayed in this home. It has everything you need for a weekend for two or your entire family! The layout is perfect if you have kids and still need some privacy. All the comforts of home and the hosts are so organized. All that you need is right there!

Beautiful, welcoming house
The Big Blue House is perfect for families. The kids found lots of places to play, and enjoyed the beach equipment, especially the boogie boards. We enjoyed being able to walk to the beach as well as play in the bay. The kitchen is well-equipped, there's room for eight at the table, the bedrooms are pleasant, and everything was clean.
The owner was flexible about the hour we arrived and was very helpful in his written description of things to do and see. We tried two of the restaurants he recommended and they were excellent.

This house was perfect for us....we like our space and tranquility.....
And, if the kids had time they would have had enough room for a visit.....maybe next year....
The master bedrooms are superb.....and the beds were soooooo comfortable !!!

Fabulous Fall Fun!
This home is truly a one of a kind property! It is spacious, well stocked and appointed, comfortable, and offers plenty of shared and private space for a group. The property owners rightfully take tremendous pride in the house, which is evident from the moment you walk through the front door. Our daytime activities were planned over coffees on the deck and we ended several evenings with sunset cocktails in the same beautiful place. Both master suites are large, quiet and left us wishing we could extend our stay! All members of our group agreed that the BBBH exceeded our expectation!

Big Blue House on Bay was PERFECT!
We enjoyed our first trip to SPI and the house was perfect for our group. The spacious large open kitchen, dining & living area allowed us to gather all together and there were plenty of places to find solitude and alone time on the deck and in the massive bedroom suites. Host has excellent communication skills and offers tips for restaurants and activities for exploring and enjoying the area. Great week. Highly recommend.

Great location and accommodations!
Our group of 10 stayed at this house for four days. The house was nice and clean upon arrival. The kitchen was fully stocked aND the house had everything you could possibly need; including a safety gate for the top of the stairs which was extremely useful as we had 2 toddlers in our group.
The beach is a 5 minute drive from the house and there was plenty of free parking available. David and Gaye give you very detailed information on anything you may want to do during your stay. That made planning activities extremely hassle free! We wouldn't hesitate staying here again.
