Best Location!!! - Huge Historic Charm - 3BR-3BTH
About this house rental
Located in Louisville, this charming house for R 3,851 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Summary: Looking for that perfect house to experience one of the finest neighborhoods for dining, culture, arts, and shopping? Also looking for that fun historic home set up with thoughtfulness and flair? You must visit this charming home located next to historic Hadley Pottery and the 2nd oldest working bowling alley in the nation, Vernon Lanes, at the intersection of Frankfort and Story Avenues in Butchertown! This house is the trendiest spot in the city. Great for couples, families, and groups. The Space: This lovely home was built in 1890 and was just remodeled in August 2016. It's located in the Butchertown Neighborhood in Louisville which is one of the most historic and trendy homes in the city. It's located perfectly between the Nulu and Frankfort Ave hot spots. Shopping, dining, culture, distilleries, are all walking distance. It's very close to river front park and perfect for folks visiting events there. Guest Access: The entire house is accessible. The Neighborhood: One of the oldest neighborhoods in Louisville, Butchertown was established in the early 1800's when German and Irish immigrants settled in east Downtown Louisville along the original Beargrass Creek. While many professions were featured, many of the residents were butchers or somehow worked to support the butchering community. Over the years, Butchertown has seen its fair share of colorful historical events that include the major flood of 1937 and "Bloody Monday" riots of August 1855. Once a community that included both residential and industrial aspects, Butchertown had a sharp decline in its residential population after the 1937 flood. Now, however, the diverse community is seeing a rebirth and is a quickly growing segment of the downtown development. People are relocating to the area and renovating previously neglected grand buildings that date back over 100 years. Shopping, dining, nightlife, and art have found a strong foothold in the community as well. Also, a great deal of literature on Butchertown and it's history can be found in local bookstores. The annual Butchertown Art Fair and Home Tour in the Spring and the well-known Oktoberfest in the Fall are staples of Louisville's event calendar. Getting Around: Drive, Walk, or Bike anywhere you need. Other Things to Note: You can park out front on the street but we recommend parking at Vernon Lanes. Interaction with Guests: Call, text, or contact me through AirBNB at anytime.

Nice property with a great location in Butchertown. Close to shops, restaurants and easy interstate access. Older home with nice charm. Hosts were very helpful meeting all our needs. We would stay here again if opportunity arises.

So good and bad. The front bedroom and upstairs back bedroom need new mattresses. Unfortunately there’s nothing you can do about the street noise. We were close to the entrance of an interstate so constant traffic at all hours of the night. The great part of it was Vernon Lanes. It was our go to at night for great drinks and great bar food. Not much hot water in the guest bathroom near the laundry room shower never really got hot. Bathroom off of living room really should only be considered a half bath.

My family and I came into town from northern Illinois for a 4 day music festival. This place was exactly what we needed, nice area close to everything. I’ve had to reach out to the property manager multiple times (because of my mistakes) and the communication has been great. As far as the property itself it was perfect plenty of room for me and my family. It was very clean and neat when we arrived, you can tell it’s well taken care of. If we’re ever back in the area again for another event this is the first place I’d look into booking. I’d definitely recommend staying here!!!

There was a load of wet towels in the dryer upon our arrival. Remote control in front upstairs bedroom is broken. Only three coffee mugs for 6 people. Pillow in upstairs back bedroom was smelly, needed additional blankets. The white covering on box springs were all stained and riped. I prefer white sheets on beds. We liked the location. Decor was eclectic and fun. Bathrooms were great.

The property is nice, however, it listed an extra bed available that it did not have (only 3 queens when listed 3 queens and a twin). I contacted the host and they offered to provide a partial refund for the error and provide an air mattress. The air mattress worked, but they have not provided the partial refund and it has been almost two weeks.

We had a great time here! There’s a bowling alley next door which was SILENT from the outside, but a blast inside.
We loved all the quirky details and decor of this house! Would recommend!

We came for the weekend to celebrate my father-in-laws birthday and really enjoyed this house. Very clean, nice rooms and nice linens. The traffic noise is a lot, as it’s a busy street, so maybe bring earplugs if that bothers you. Also, we are a tall bunch of people, and several of the light fixtures and doorways are short due to the age of the house, so be cautious if you are over 6ft tall.

The third bath was not usable due to leaky pipes. The beds were very squeaky, and they needed newer pillows and more blankets. The downstairs bath and the kitchen sink were dirty. Also the downstairs shower head leaks, so water pressure was lacking.

Location was great for proximity to the distilleries and the highway. The traffic could be heard at times but not too bad. There are 2 baths and 1 bedroom downstairs, and 2 bedrooms and 1 bath upstairs. The bowling alley at the corner was fun to visit. The owners are very quick with responses. Would definitely stay here again.

Great older home with very nice decorations. Not very many places that house 3 queen bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. Perfect for the 3 couples on this Bourbon Trail experience.

As soon as we opened the car door, my (adult) son said, ‘it stinks’ and it did smell bad at times. The furniture in the living room isn’t very comfortable. Street noise was a problem until midnight. However, the beds were clean & comfy and the showers good. We enjoyed our stay there!

Beautiful historic home in Butcherstown. The owners are great at communicating, and the area has a few hidden gems within walking distance. Right off the highway for easy access to local travel and sightseeing.

Property was well furnished, very clean, nicely decorated. Did not care for TV service, would have preferred Direct TV or DISH. Did have access to Netflix. Owner was very friendly and accommodating. Will attempt to stay there again the next time in Louisville. Great VRBO overall!!!!

Owners responded very quickly when we needed to get ahold of them. Old, pretty property in great area. Close to everything and lots to do.

We had a good stay at Story Ave! Fun and quirky decor. We enjoyed the record player (and left a couple old favorite Christmas albums that we found at a thrift store). The house was well-stocked with towels, bedding, cooking pans and utensils, etc. We visited the pottery shop across the street and picked up some Christmas ornaments. We also saw a play at Derby Dinner Playhouse, which is 5 minutes away across the bridge.
The bowling alley parking lot was closed, so we parked in the street. It's a bit tricky crossing the street because the traffic comes around the corner at quite a speed.
Info for those who, like me, have mobility issues: there are several steps up from the street, and a few more to get into the house. There is one bedroom downstairs, and two bathrooms, although one of them is down a couple steps.

Love how the owner and his description was accurate of the house. Loved he used local business for the number plate on the house, HADLEY, located right across the street. Definitely a place to visit. The amenities were up to date and as stated. Thank you!

The house is just as presented; charming, big rooms, high ceilings and chandeliers! As many reviewers noted, there is a lot of traffic with cars getting on the freeway. But we didn't find that steady road noise a distraction at all. We're in the city after all.

Cool, eclectic property
We enjoyed the property. It is located in a cool part of old downtown. The place itself is nice and has a great historic feel. The amenities were all there. Overall we were very happy, just wished we could have stayed longer.

Interesting house
They aren’t kidding when they say this house is historic; which I love! The house was clean and had everything we needed. Tom was quick to respond to my messages. There were several businesses nearby for us to check out. I can appreciate the quirkiness of an up and coming neighborhood, so I felt at home. Like everyone has stated the traffic is quite loud, but that’s not the property owner’s fault.
