Middle Level features a living area with 70-inch flat screen TV, dining area, kitchen and a porch off of the living area. Also a rear deck off of the kitchen/dining area features a table with seating for 4. There is also a front porch with seating for 2. The house was fantastic with more than enough place for our party of 10 as well as very conveniently located. The kitchen was well stacked with all tools required for a great Thanksgiving dinner. Not to mention Tybee is a charming island that deserves to be discovered.

First house we stayed at on Tybee for our annual family beach trip, not our first visit thou, 10+ years but at a normal stay at 2 separate condo units, wanted to be under one roof with our group of 13. WHISPERING PALMS was the upmost place for our stay. Vintage/modern feel, totally loaded with space (the porches 🙂) and kitchen had everything needed and then some. Able to enjoy Labor Day pier fireworks from the property and close to shops,beach and inlet access. Plan is to return. Much Appreciation Mermaid Cottages

We had a wonderful stay at Whispering Palms. We loved the location and the yard/landscaping was exceptional! I would definitely recommend this place, we were very comfortable. The only recommendation I would make is to have more bath towels available, one per person means doing laundry during the week.

Outdoor / pool area was amazing. It is an older home with master bathroom updated beautifully. We spent most evenings on the main floor, screened, porch. Short walk to many shops, restaurants, and beach. We would definitely stay here again.

Whispering Palms is a beautiful home that easily fit my entire family. It was close to the Pier, the back river and Inlet beach access. It has all the amenities you would need for a weeks stay to cook food as well as reheat. 2 different coffee makers for the drop coffee or Keurig users. Beautiful space and easy access to all the fun parts of Tybee. We throughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to come back.

This was a wonderful venue for six couples to gather prior to a wedding. The house is wonderful but really loved the large kitchen with its oversized center island. The house has many outside areas from open decks to large screened in porches to gazebo to fire pit to pool to another tree shaded table set. All perfect to get away or have private conversations. The beachy vibe house was clean and the staff incredibly helpful. The house location makes for a very short walk to the beach, back river and pier, restaurants and beach shops. Just a terrific rental.

This is a great cottage - everyone had plenty of space to themselves. The decor and the house itself are stunning, and it’s a short walk to downtown and many beach accesses— It really may be the best situated cottage on Tybee. We brought my great uncle who had never been to Tybee before, he had the best time! The Mermaids were extremely accommodating for our entire stay! It’s so convenient that this beautiful cottage is dog friendly—We will be back to Whispering Palms. Thanks for having us, it was a great week!

This is a lovely house with great outdoor living and a great floorplan. We planned an outing to Tybee but were presented with several scheduling issues including working around Orange Crush weekend, but Tammy really helped us out finding just the right situation for a wonderful weekend. Highly recommended.

We had a great time and really enjoyed the home. We loved the common area and the outdoor area, we were able to build a fire of our nights. There were 12 of us and we had plenty of space to be comfortable. I would def come back for another stay.

This is our second visit here and we absolutely love this house! It is beautifully decorated and maintains the vintage 1920s feel. We also love the location as it’s just so close to the main beach as well as the sunset beach! Another absolute gem of this property is the beautifully landscaped and maintained fenced in yard. So spacious and so many areas to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The management company is also so attentive and helpful, thank you Mermaids!!

This was our second visit to Whispering Palms, and we absolutely love this house!!! So much character with the vintage feel mixed with gorgeous, chic, and whimsical decor! We spent so much time on the screen in porches just enjoying the beautiful fall weather and sight and sounds of Tybee. Perfect location with one block to sunset beaches and so close to the 17th street beach entrance. Beautiful fenced in corner lot with gorgeous foliage and gazebo with tons of seating areas. The Mermaid property staff are so professional and showed exceptional hospitality. We felt welcomed from the beginning! Can’t say enough, always sad to leave Tybee!

This was our first visit to Tybee Island. We had planned a week long vacation for our extended family of 13…ages 2 - 60+. The property suited us perfectly. Every family had its own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked and we loved the backyard. The littles swam in the pool daily.
The location of Whispering Palms was really ideal - we could walk to the beach, to multiple shops and restaurants and thru quiet neighborhoods for morning exercise.
The staff at Mermaid Cottages was like none other I have encountered when using VRBO. They were attentive, caring and communicated clearly. Tammy and Jan were THE BEST… thank you!
If we add one hint for future renters it would be to bring shampoo, soap and plan to purchase additional paper products for the kitchen and bath.
Thanks to Mermaid Cottages for memories (and photos) that will last a lifetime!

Mermaid Cottage Rentals never disappoint and Whispering Palms is our new favorite!!! Plenty of room for all the old folks and the millennials, well-stocked kitchen , an amazing fenced in yard where we hung out most of the time under the gazebo and in the pool. And as always with the "Mermaids" exceptionally clean and inviting! If you are planning a trip to Tybee you need to choose a rental with Mermaid Cottages. Our family of 11 stayed at Whispering Palms for the first time this year after years in another house. We loved the vintage ambience of this restored home with its spaces and nooks for time alone and together. We loved it's amazing outdoor amenities even more! The poolside garden with its walkways, firepit, pergola, and seating areas were our favorite spots in the afternoons and evenings. My husband and I, in our late 70's, loved the spacious screened porch overlooking the garden, and spent hours with our books, cooled by the ocean breeze and the "whispering palms." The back entrance from this area, with fewer steps and sturdy rails, enabled my husband to access the main level. It is not wheel chair accessible. The updated, well-equipped kitchen was perfect for making family meals. Closeness to the beach, shops, and restaurants was amazing. Most of all, the quietness of this location, even as cars turned to access the beach, created a safe, serene environment for all ages. We loved it!

We had a great time at Whispering Palms. The house was large and had plenty of room for our entire family of 8 adults and 4 children. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We were also able to walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. The backyard was beautiful with a pool which the kids loved. The mermaids checked in almost daily to make sure everything was top notch. All in all a great experience and a wonderful time in Tybee Island.

My entire party loved the charm of Whispering Palms. It was a comfortable, relaxed setting with everything we could need without leaving the property (well except for the beach!)
Mermaid Cottages’ gals were great! They communicated with me many times prior to our trip to ensure we were fully prepared. And, touched base several times to make sure we had everything we needed.

The home was beautiful and a great space to spend our time when we weren't on the beach. The pool was really nice and the location couldn't have been better. You do have to bring a lot of basic stuff which you warned about ahead of time, although hand soap in all of the bathrooms were something we weren't expecting to need to buy. Overall we really enjoyed staying and would definitely consider staying here again. We would also recommend this to place to others

My staff and I - from a nonprofit - travel to Tybee each August in lieu of staying at a hotel during an annual conference in Savannah. After four years of this trip, we were finally able to stay in a Mermaids property, and we were sorely disappointed in our accommodations. Not only did we arrive to many dead AND alive ants and other pests, much of the furniture was in disrepair (broken sofa that made it hard for us all to gather in the living room, broken ottoman, porch furniture unstable, hideously uncomfortable, old and worn mattress in master) and we had to call the help line multiple times. Though the Mermaids were helpful (and that was much appreciated), having to spend a good part of our trip be interrupted with phone calls to and from the Mermaids left me annoyed and frustrated. To top it off, the repair guy that came (after we had to insist that someone come to fix the window that was left open and stuck prior to our arrival) was somewhat rude and made one of our guests feel uncomfortable as she was alone in the house with him. Overall, we were really dissatisfied with our stay and will not stay here again. I've enjoyed Mermaid properties before and I'm sad that this experience DID NOT meet my expectations and left my staff asking if they could stay at a hotel next year to avoid the hassles of lizards in their rooms and bugs in their bathtubs!

We had a fun family vacation experience with 6 adults and 3 children, ages 16, 13 and 9. There was plenty of room to spread out and to give each of us space. The pool added lots of laughter and entertainment especially for the kids. The walk to the beach was pleasant. I especially enjoyed walking to the river and then to the pier. The sand is hard and flat for easy walking. It was interesting to observe the quiet river area as it became busier as the pier area neared. There was a nice breeze.
