Lighthouse Cottage--1.5 blocks from beach.
About this cottage rental
Situated in Tybee Island, this attractive cottage for R 3,214 per night is a great option for your next break. All surfaces are disinfected between guests. Step back in time to an old-fashioned beach cottage. Lighthouse Cottage is in the shadow of the Tybee Island Lighthouse, which is just 1.5 blocks away. The beach also is just 1.5 blocks away. In the heart of the former Fort Screven, this 3-bedroom cottage was built in 1920 by the US Army to house non-commissioned officers. Just a block away is Battery Garland and the Fort Screven museum. This is the islands quiet, secluded north end preferred by celebrities. The original clawfoot bathtub and the original enamel kitchen sink/cabinet have been restored. Most of the interior walls are original 5-inch wide tongue and groove planks laid horizontally. These were discovered and restored when 1/4-inch paneling was removed. The master bedroom has a queen bed and an en suite bath with double shower. No shower curtain or door needed. Also in the master bedroom, an alcove containing a trundle bed (2 twins). The two other bedrooms both have queen beds. Tybee Island's North Beach: Great dolphin viewing --- virtually guaranteed on the north end of the island. Dolphin boat tours are always available, but sitting on the north beach is just as effective. We once watched a band of dolphins frolicking with a delighted kayaker. Tybee's beaches are equipped with porch swings that seem to be about 100 yards apart. From the north beach swings you can watch the sun set over Savannah and the mouth of the Savannah river --- incredible sunsets. Savannah, being 15 miles away, is too far away to actually see but you can see the fireworks on July 4th and New Year's Eve. Shrimp boats with their nets spread like wings are always in view. The 2 Lighthouses: Two lighthouses less than 3 miles apart but so radically different in character. As you approach Tybee Island, you see the impressive Tybee Lighthouse in the distance. Tall, dark, and handsome with a white cumberbund. He was honored a few years ago when he got his own US postage stamp ( In lighthouse circles that is akin to an Oscar). But then as you cross the Lazaretto bridge onto Tybee Island, you look down to the left and blink. Is that a lighthouse in the water? Indeed it is. That's plucky little Cockspur Lighthouse. Weathered, plain white masonry. Not flashy at all, except ... At every high tide Cockspur stands in the ocean well off-shore. Only at low tide does the stony spur appear that supports the little lighthouse. A firm foundation after all. Lost in the 40's/50's: So far the quaint shopping district near Tybee's pier has pretty much escaped the wrecking ball. As for shopping, no Sak's here. We're talking beach shopping: T-shirts, souvenirs, Sno-Cones, umbrella drinks, seafood. But remember, for culture and serious shopping, there is colorful, historic Savannah, just 20 minutes away. Extremely cute property that is central in location at north beach. Steps away from north beach grill and ocean. We will definitely try to stay here again. Pet friendly!

We very much enjoyed our stay on Tybee Island in this beautiful cottage. Everything was so clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable. My husband and I shared the master bedroom, my mother and 18 year old son each had their own room, and my 22 year old daughter slept comfortably on the daybed in the master bedroom. The cottage is very close to the North Beach grill and the ocean. We stayed during the Christmas season and enjoyed all of the lights in the neighborhood and throughout the island. We appreciate the host allowing us to stay at this adorable cottage. We would love to stay here again.

We loved the property. Nice fenced in backyard for the pups. The hosts thought of every amenity so we basically brought in food and essentials. Great part of the island to take the dogs for a walk. We even had a neighborhood rooster who announced the start of each day. We will definitely stay there again.

This place is perfect. The location is great. Such a unique neighborhood. Very close to the lighthouse and the beach. Cute park not far for dog walks. The house is also fully stocked. Even the towels and sheets are nice! I always bring my own and didn't use them. Absolutely loved our stay! Thanks for sharing your home and can't wait to come back.

Although Hurricane Idalia changed most of our plans, it was still a nice trip. Ted was very responsive to the couple of concerns we had which was appreciated. It would have been nice to have a doormat on the interior of the house especially with all the rain. The only concern my group had was that the floors could have used a better cleaning as our socks were quite dirty from walking on them. Overall, it was a nice time.

Cottage has 3 bedrooms, enough for our family. A block from the beach , and a nice size deck for relaxing outdoors. The mosquitoes are everywhere outside , bring repellent.

We enjoyed our overnight stay with comfy quilts and cozy nooks. The area was safe for families and small children. There’s a nearby coffee stop with a unique vibe and local fair that is refreshing and fresh ingredients. We visited the light station and the pier. It’s a nice quaint area and a perfect stopover for our long drive to Florida.

Cozy rental, clean, has everything you need to make you happy during your vacation.

It was a clean cottage, with everything you needed & close proximity to beach.
Cons: while vintage & trying to retain period, updates are needed as the rental is a bit rough (you can see outside through back door when shut), furniture & beds are not comfortable, outdoor area contained dog fe... & neighbors dogs were frequently barking (no one can control that). Could be much more enjoyable with some TLC.

This was our second visit to the Lighthouse Cottage and we love it even more. It's extremely easy to forget the world exists when you're on Tybee, everything kind of stands still. The Cottage has a great welcoming atmosphere and everything you need is there. We're already making plans to return.

Good place as advertised. Had some challenges with the door but Ted took care of it.

Vehicle decided to 'have issues' whilst we were pit stopped in Montgomery, Al. Didn't manage to get back on the road until the next day, thus, we never made it to Tybee Island, at all. 😕🤷🏾♀️
I did call the host to see if anything could be done about the likely missed reservation, and while he couldn't do anything on his end, he did seem/sound quite friendly.

Great Location, flexible options for sleep with number accommodated, set up for our arrival with lights/music on and smelled freshly clean. Thank you for the welcoming atmosphere. Fit our space and budget needs for a one night stop. Property does need some tending outside and in a few places inside due to age. Would have liked some hooks to hang bags from since the counter space is very limited in bathrooms. We knew there wasn't availability to check in early or leave late, but it became more apparent how hard that was on structuring our time and three cars of people and things having to wait until 3 and then be out so early at 10am. It does affect a travel experience. Thank you for overall good one-night stay.
