Conveniently located. Super nice staff!
The carpet. Obviously pretty old

Location is excellent for walking to downtown Bellingham sites (including the performing arts center and restaurants). Appreciated free parking and friendly staff. Bed was very comfortable.
Would have been nice to have restaurant/bar service on site on a Sunday night. Fire alarm test was scheduled for 9:00 am on Monday morning; working with the fire department to conduct the test between check out and check in would be helpful.

We appreciated the large space of our suite, the cleanliness, the old architecture, and the beautiful view of the water!
The noise from the trains passing through the night was pretty terrible even though that's not in the hotel's control. We did appreciate the ear plugs that were given to us, though! :)

Clean, great location.
The beds are modern and low but comfortable.

Location was great
The rooms were so sparsely decorated it was kind of bizarre.
The bed was super uncomfortable, we both work up with a backache.
We were excited to use the gym but that was even more bizarre. Just random machines in 3 separate rooms, no windows…no decor, felt like a storage room. Girls come on come on Megan come come on no hey come on come on come on.

Great location
Paid for a bay view which we could barely see through all the foliage of the tree blocking the view. Wasn’t worth the extra cost.

Great location, love the lobby & library, free parking
Bed is very low to the ground, no microwave

for $300+ for one night? nothing
it’s just a basic hotel. no way is this any kind of value.

great location
weird and rundown rooms - looked like an attempt to convert old apartments into hotel rooms. very thin walls - we could hear people playing music in room down the hall. door would not close...

the building is lovely and the staff were above and beyond!
no parking and so pretty rough stuff going on in the alley behind the hotel

Perfect location close to everything. Nicely furnished, great bar on site, nice library/pool room to hang out in.Friendly staff. Comfy beds, well equipped rooms.
Only negatives are street life and train noise can be loud in the night, but worth it to be so close to everything! And hotel does provide ear plugs.

location
we had the coldest night in the room with poor air conditioner. there was no parking spot available (full) and had to park on the street.

Great location, didn’t have breakfast
We booked as two people and there was only ONE robe and ONE set of soft earplugs (which you needed since a baby was screaming at 4 am). Also, the toilet paper role was only 1/2 full - add an extra roll.

Beautiful room. The bed was wonderful and I really appreciated having a coffee press in the room.

old hotel charm with modern rooms
bar and grill were not open Sunday

Location was fantastic. Staff were beyond helpful and so friendly. Bed was very comfortable.
For the price, was expecting a little more. Only one seat in room, so we couldn't have a cocktail or meal in the room (as we had our dog with us and couldn't eat in the lounge). Our room was missing a coffee press in the morning, so had to wait for them to find one for us. Had higher expectations for the price (and considering past reviews).

UPDATING THIS REVIEW: THE HOTEL DID CONTACT US (AFTER THE REVIEW WAS POSTED) AND COMPLETELY REFUNDED OUR STAY. Still leaving the essential concerns for those considering this hotel to know, but given their responsiveness I expect these issues will be addressed in the future.
1. When making the reservation (via booking.com) it wasn't clear that the room required going up a flight of stairs and that no elevator was available and no assistance with our heavy bags would be provided. While I was able to discover this information on the hotel website - after my stay - it was not provided via booking.com.
2. There were issues with lack of cleanliness.
3. The refrigerator in the suite we stayed in is installed ridiculously: it is impossible to open the door and access the refrigerator unless one is unusually thin.

Quaint, good proximity to downtown.
