Overall, our stay was comfortable. We didn't get check in information until almost an hour after check in time which was off putting. There was a lack of toilet paper so we had to purchase some in town. Other than that the home is very nice and the land is beautiful.

We were all thankful to return to the farm house for a couple days of just quiet time togehter. We love the comfortable feeling of the kitchen and living rooms and just playing in the yard. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

What a charming farmhouse! The property was absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. We had everything we needed to be comfortable while we were staying there including the recommendations of local restaurants. We will definitely be back!!
For context, it was a girl's trip for the Reds vs Cubs game at the Field of Dreams.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Perfect country home away from home
We loved the Soules Barn and Bunkhouse! The outside provided lots of room for dogs and kids to run and play, and it was perfect for sitting down with a cup of coffee to watch an Iowa sunrise. There was plenty of space to relax, and all of the bedrooms were comfortable. We especially appreciated the treats the Soules shared and the toiletries (we forgot a few). LOVED the '70s and '80s toys and children's decor. I had the best time playing Richard Scarry's Puzzletown with my granddaughter. Thank you so much for everything! Highly recommend!

Friendly Farm Feeling
Great for our family of 7. Coffee Station was FABULOUS! Note those with limited mobility or knee issues the bathroom is on the second floor. The bathroom was fine for our family. Kids enjoyed the house and the range of items to checkout. Hope to come back again!

Super Cute Farmhouse
Cute little farmhouse that was perfect for our weekend away! Linda was easy to communicate with and very accommodating. The house was clean and cozy. The only “complaint” I can give (and it’s not even a big complaint), the house is older and, while it does have A/C, it was hard to keep cool with 7 bodies there on a very hot August day. The upstairs bedrooms do have ceiling fans, but I wish we would have had a box fan for the downstairs bedroom. Again, not a big complaint, just more of a heads up if you’re going to stay during the summer months

We enjoyed our stay!
Quiet, relaxing country experience. Close to our destination of Backbone State Park. Plenty of room for my wife and I, adult children and grandkids. Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in our family. The house was great and well stocked for us.. Linda was a great, attentive and helpful host.

Perfect place for a family to get away
We so loved our time here. So many beautiful places we used it to springboard to: Effigy Mounds, Backbone park, spook cave,. Pikes Peak. The property itself is beautiful and feels like staying at a family home, aspects from 100 year old farmhouse, to 1950s aesthetic to 1970s and the best macrame hanger I have ever seen. The pictures don't do it justice....it was roomy and cozy and quiet and we hope to come back again.

We booked the house for a weekend visit to Backbone State park. We needed a place with enough beds so we could get our kids together with their grandparents. Having grown up in Iowa, this house had hit me with a nostalgic rural Iowa feel as soon as we walked in. It’s rustic in the best way. The property owner Linda has decorated the home with a vintage farmhouse look and feel (the pictures hint at this, but the house has a cozy cottage feel that the pictures don’t quite fully convey...and that’s a pleasant surprise as you walk through the doors). There are fun decorative pieces throughout the house that remind you of days past. All that said, the house had plenty of modern amenities including a great heating and cooling system, smart TV (with plenty of apps for the kids to watch their favorite shows, a small stereo in the kitchen, and more). The host Linda goes out of her way to ensure that there are all kinds of amenities available for guests that they may have forgotten. She was fantastic. Highly recommend this location.
