Victoria Street Apartment Review (Number 18)
Summary: Disappointing stay at Victoria Street Apartment 18. While the location is excellent and the apartment is clean and warm, it falls short of the luxury advertised. Here's a breakdown:
Pros:
Central location: Perfect for exploring Liverpool city center.
Warm and secure: Comfortable temperature and secure building.
Well-equipped kitchen: Good for preparing meals.
Hot water and good shower: Basic amenities functioned well.
Additional notes:
I am originally from Liverpool it's my hometown but now I live in Bulgaria.
I frequently use Booking.com for accommodation
Cons:
Misleading advertisement: Lacks the advertised luxury feel.
Small and dated: Apartment is small and needs repainting, the finish is poor especially the bathroom tiles.
Faulty toilet flush: Unrepaired despite contacting the property.
Noisy on weekends: Loud from nearby bars until closing time.
Deceptive Netflix: TV advertised Netflix but lacked the proper remote for access.
Unnecessary emails: Constant pestering for payment (already paid) and security deposit.
Which just stressed me.. I had came for a wedding didn't need 14 emails
Cheap furniture: Furnished with basic IKEA furniture.
Overpriced: Could have gotten a similar experience at the Hilton B&B for £30 less.
Overall: This apartment prioritizes profit over guest experience. While functional, it lacks the luxury promised. Consider alternative options for better value and comfort.

Location was really central which was handy, apartment was clean & all equipment & utensils were provided.
I couldn’t fault anything as I was very happy with my stay!

A beautiful little apartment excellently located for all conveniences including pubs and shopping.
Nothing

Brilliant location, could be noisy until around 1am from the live acts around Mathew Street but that didn't bother us at all.
Didn't interrupt our sleep.
Very clean and comfortable
That no one was available to speak to on the day of check in.

The beautifully restored building in that "imperial" Liverpool location are both exceptional. The mini room and kitchen are also fully satisfactory for a couple (plus a child). Kitchen ustensils, towels, toilet papers are all present, (almost) nothing is missing.
I wasn't expecting that much noise and al those not fully sober neighbours in the middle of the night.

Good location
Horrible experience but it was liverpool. Not the apartment

The 'bijou' apartment (#18, 8 Victoria St.) was clean, neat & tidy. The bed was comfortable.
On a positive note, the location is in walking distance for the Royal Albert Docks, the waterfront with many of the tourist attractions (The Liver Building, Ferry cross the Mersey), tour buses & Liverpool One shopping centre. Despite giving this poor review for the accommodation we did thoroughly enjoy our 1st time in Liverpool.
Firstly, I would like to mention how difficult it was to make direct contact with customer support once we reached Liverpool. We had received check-in details via a 'welcome email' from Casey, dated 24th April. We had arrived earlier than expected due to train cancellations from Manchester & was hoping to access the accommodation. We attempted to call via the phone number provided on the check-in information only for it to go straight to a message service! This happened 3 times & there was no attempt to respond. We also tried via the email but again without success. We arrived on a Wednesday morning, 26th April, so I do not understand why nobody was available for us to speak to.
Unfortunately, I have to say our stay in the apartment was disappointing; we felt several 'basics' were missing. Bath towels were provided but no hand, tea or kitchen towel. No hand soap in either the kitchen or bathroom - would suggest fitting a hand soap pump dispenser, this would appear to be common practice in most accommodation these days! Globe in bathroom needed replacing, as did the shower drain cover. Sliding door to bathroom required attention, would not close fully & when did was difficult to re-open! Apparently, this had been reported in a review dated July 2022!! We were extremely grateful to find a washing machine, however, turned out to be a combined washer/dryer, which we had never used before, it would have been helpful to have some basic instructions available - thank God for Google!! Same goes for Netflix - we were not able to connect to this, again no instructions despite us trying to make contact! We were also constantly disturbed by the noise coming from the neighbouring apartments, doors slamming frequently. Future guests need to be aware that the apartment is in front of Mathew Street which is the main club/pub district & the noise carries on until 2am, 7 days a week!

Location is incredible, room was gorgeous, check in was so easy. The bed was so comfy, lovely kitchen and bathroom. This place is an absolute gem, and would stay here over and over.
There is a pub downstairs with live music, which makes the quiet night rule a bit funny.
Some instructions for how to use the washing machine and how to get the Netflix on the tv might be helpful for further bookings

centrally located, clean & tidy, plenty of space, easy access instructions & great value for money
A few noisy neighbours on the first night (not the property’s fault) but given the location, bar noise is to be expected & although that didn’t bother us too much other travellers may want to take it into consideration

We were greeted with glasses of Prosecco during check in...a nice surprise 😊 Room was spacious, clean, bed comfortable & bathroom excellent size. Tea & coffee provided plus a mini bar & toiletries. Loved the room decorations! As this was our 1st time to Manchester, we found the staff very knowledgeable & helpful. We ate at the Brasserie next door - food was excellent & staff very good. Location was quite good with a short walk to shops, bars & public transport.
Through no fault of the hotel, we were disturbed in the early hours each night of our 2 night stay, even with our room being at the back on the 2nd floor (#23). Reception did offer to move us, but as we were only there for a short time, we declined.

Location and building decor.
Lift did not work for 2 days. Bathroom door was difficult to operate. No light we could operate from the bed.

It’s in the central. Paying car park nearby.
The clubbing noise is up till 2am, and very loud. I could feel the vibration of the beats as well. I stayed there during weekend, I guess it’s party time. No hot water at night time. I came back at 10pm and tried to have showers, but the boiler will start boiling at 5am. So no hot water. The number the owner give wasn’t able to be contacted. I tried to call them few time to ask some questions. Chatting through booking.com message isn’t clear. It seem like I’m chatting with automatic robot which never answered my questions, but just sending the set-up messages.

Clean apartment central

The place was quaint and very welcoming, very clean, and the unusual layout made it interesting.
There was a problem with the washer and it was handled very promptly, so there was no impact on our stay.
The central location was ideal.
Not like is a strong word but a set of drawers would have allowed for unpacking , which would have been nice for a long stay rather than keeping the suitcase going...

It was nice and clean and had everything we needed on the inside. The laundry and dryer were a nice asset.
It’s in a loud location, which the hosts can’t completely control but there was a lot of slamming of doors and noise from other apartments in the building into the early morning.

Had a wonderful stay in Liverpool while attending a wedding, the apartment was wonderful, loved the feeling of being outside even though you were inside on the hall ways . It’s the back of Mathew st so could hear the music until 1am , but didn’t stop us from sleeping, great to be so close to great bars

The location was excellent, and the old feature architecture was great to see. Bed was very comfortable.
The hot water soon ran out after only one shower. No tea towels for drying of washing up. More shelving in bathroom would be useful.

Great apartment, with all facilities needed. we didn’t use the cooker or washer, but great addition if you were staying longer. location excellent. yes it’s noisy, but I knew that before booking, and wasn’t a major problem. Hosts were excellent and responded quickly when messaged for extra pillows, soap and Toilet rolls, and were dropped off same night. lovely apartment.
