We stayed at the The Battery and it was amazing. The location was exceptional for day trips and we had also the perfect view overlooking the St. John's harbour. We were fortunate enough to see the largest cruise ship ever to dock in the harbour (The Sky Princess). Rochelle (Host/owner) was extremely accommodating as we originally booked this vacation in 2019, but had to keep pushing out because of Covid. I would definitely recommend The Battery to friends and other family members The Martins

A minute’s drive to a beautiful sunrise, a step away from a breathtaking hike, an addictive brownie at the end of the drive, a short drive to world class hikes, walkable to Downtown restaurants and shopping, walkable to terrific little grocery store (Blebins) to stock the topnotch kitchen, and gorgeous views of the city at sunset. Lots of memories made even better by staying at this cottage.

Perfect place for ambiance, location and harbor views

We loved our stay in Egg Down Cottage. The location can’t be beat and we absolutely loved the view looking out over the harbour. Beds were super comfy and linens top quality. Perfect place to start our vacation.

We loved this property. The views of a working harbour are great. The property has been remodeled in a good way! It was stocked with all the needed items to cook local fish. The decks were perfect for entertaining and the location allowed us to walk to the places we wanted to see! We would stay again!

We all thoroughly loved our time at Egg Down cottage. Large deck overlooking the harbour was used all day, when we were there. Nice nautical themed items throughout the cottage added to the cozy vibe. (The beds were so comfy, with top quality bedding. Thank you!!) We would highly recommend this spot and feel lucky it was available when we began our accommodation search. 👍

You've got the beautiful harbour to watch, with its dancing gulls, and ships coming and going. It's just far enough from the busy downtown for healthy walkers, or a short cab away if you've planning on partying on George St. We completely recommend, and loved our stay..

The reservation online was difficult. It was my third, and last attempt, when it finally worked (I’m not new at this!) Everything else was great and we would recommend it. A few specifics: Sharp knives appreciated Nice soaps and towels We were there for thanksgiving and there was no roasting pan or meat thermometer - can’t fault you for that mind you, just an observation. Was great to see some things left in cupboards, like foil and plastic wrap, tea, etc Great facility!

I was so ready to move in. The house is spotless with a terrific kitchen, comfortable beds and couches, great showers. And so perfectly located: easy to walk downtown, to get to Signal Hill and those hikes, even walking distance to grocery stores. Just to sit in the living room or on the deck and enjoy the wonderful view of the harbor was a treat. And quiet! If you go to St. John's- and you should - , you should stay here!

We were travelling with an extended family group, so we needed space to accommodate all of us. We rented two properties from Rochelle: the Dogberry cottage and the Eggdown cottage. Both were excellent. They were immaculately clean, fully equipped, and ideally located. Rochelle was a wonderfully flexible and responsive host: I had responses to all of my questions very quickly, and she was able to accommodate my requests. Rochelle also left several brochures with suggestions of activities that we could do. The two cottages overlook the St. John's harbour, which provide an excellent view of the ships coming and going. While I was expecting to hear noise from the harbour, I was pleasantly surprised that the location was peaceful and quiet. The location also makes walking downtown very easy (we could get from the cottages to George Street in about 30 minutes on foot) and accessing Signal Hill is quick. Walking / hiking trails throughout Signal Hill begin about 300 metres from the front door of the cottages. Overall, our experience was wonderful, and I would definitely book with Rochelle again. We are already counting the days until our next visit to St. John's.

Exactly like the pictures! Beautiful views of the harbour. Wonderful cottage very well supplied. Great location to explore the Avalon area! Was a fantastic vacation!

They say a picture says a thousand words, but in this case, being there far outweighed the pictures. the view from the deck , which accommodated all 6 of us, was one of the best views in St Johns. Clean, comfortable and convenient.

The Egg Down cottage nestled in the side of the hill overlooking St John’s harbour was a lovely spot to stay with our extended family. The house was very well equipped and the decor had a designers touch. The location was very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay. The sound of the water and the fans made it very enjoyable. It was interesting watching all the harbour activity.

Great accommodation and location!

The pictures don't do it justice. Breathtaking views .gorgeous place. Kind of like being in a beautiful boat that didn't move. With two balconies, we were super happy with the location.

This was our third time staying at the cottage....it really is perfect! We loved the new deck upstairs, we missed having the big table to eat at, but we survived. 😉 Can’t wait to return next summer!! ❤️

Perfect location for all that St. John’s has to offer.

The pictures do not do the cottage justice - it is even nicer. You are nestled into an historic part of St. John's which was very cool. There is a huge deck overlooking the harbour and city. You can even look out to the ocean if standing at the edge of the deck. You are steps away from Signal Hill and all the hiking trails. 15 to 20 minute walk to the bars and restaurants, or $8 cab ride. Very nice cafe just 30 seconds away. We had three couples staying over four nights and there was plenty of room with two full baths and three comfy bedrooms. Large dining table looking through the big windows onto the harbour. Two large TVs with full cable package and fast internet. Everything was there that we needed. The cottage was very clean, including nice towels and bed sheets. The shower had good water pressure. Rochelle was fast and informative when replying to emails. We had an amazing trip and would definitely return to this cottage.

Fantastic rental! This cozy cottage had all the amenities and then some needed for a nice relaxing getaway. Great views of the harbour to watch the ships come and go, as well as a two level of outdoor space that helps to provide more room for entertaining or just hanging out. The cottage was clean, the beds were comfy and the views...! Definitely would recommend and would stay again

We absolutely loved this cottage! In fact, we all (there were four of us) think it is perfect! It’s located in the historical battery area and is incredibly quaint but with modern amenities. The view of the harbor is gorgeous and watching the ships come and go was captivating. Both the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms have views of the harbor. The cottage is very well furnished with everything we needed and extremely comfortable. Being able to walk to town was an added plus!

Wow! This vacation rental is located literally 5 minutes from everything in downtown St John's. The view from the upper and lower deck is phenomenal! The best view in St John's. Gtreat place, convenient location

This cottage/property was a GREAT place for our & day stay in St. John's. the cottage was spacious and nicely equipped and stocked with basic supplies (paper towels, tp, coffee). The outside deck was overlooking the St. John's harbor was wonderful and was made good us of. The location could not have been better, being a short walk from a wonderful local coffee shop, the numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the downtown area and a nice walk/hike from signal Hill, the upper battery, Johnson Geo Centre, and Quidi Vidi village/brewery. We were on a family vacation with 11 adults and 4 children in this and another cottage owned by the same party and both places served the needs of our large group. We could not chosen better accommodations for our family. We thoroughly enjoyed the cottages and the many things we saw and did in St. John's and surrounding area.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Egg Down Cottage. It is very welcoming and cozy with really comfortable beds and furniture. The view over St. John’s harbour is awesome both day and nighttime.
