This Property was great!
I was on a week long business trip and really enjoyed this home. It was easy to check in with owner when I needed additional information. The house was very clean. I highly recommend this rental if you're going to Cape Charles!

We stay at a lot of rentals every year and this is by far our favorite and here’s why:
1) It’s impeccably clean.
2) You can tell the owners invested in high quality furniture & furnishings which holds up well throughout the season.
3) We stayed here two years ago and since then it’s held up extremely well. There is hardly any wear and tear (because of #2).
4) The decor is perfect. Not overdone, tasteful beachy.
5) It has just what you need without the unnecessary extras that tend to bog down other rentals.
6) The location is amazing!
7) Outdoor shower!!!!!
8) Owners are extremely helpful and easy to work with.
You won’t be disappointed staying in “the fish house”. We can’t wait to come back again next year!

This was our first trip to Cape Charles and we are in love. This home was immaculate, newly renovated, wonderfully equipped. It felt like the hosts were really trying to make this a welcoming spot and though of small details: spices in the cabinet, bottled water. We loved walking around the beautiful neighborhood and spent a lot of time on the porch and backyard. Really special place, we want to go back!

The property was incredibly clean, the check in process was easy, and it was convenient to the beach. Because we have 2 kids (a 2-year old and a newborn), we drove the 1 minute drive to the beach for convenience, but it’s definitely walkable.
Matt was communicative and the stay was all we needed for a quick family getaway.

Our family of four absolutely loved this sweet house and all it had to offer. The kids loved the play set in the shade after a day at the beach. The outdoor shower was so convenient and we appreciated the beach chairs available to us. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of utensils and serving dishes. All around a perfect stay!

This house is so beautiful - the pictures can't fully capture it and do it justice. We really enjoyed our stay here! It's a simple, 10 minute walk from the beach (or a 1 minute drive). Everything in the house is peaceful and comfortable. We enjoyed sipping our morning coffee on the front porch and reading there when it rained, the kids loved the back yard - they played on the playset for hours every morning and evening. We loved using the outdoor shower and the beds were very comfortable. The whole placed was immaculate and they did an incredible job with the renovations - it felt brand new! We had no issues the entire week, which was a refreshing change after our experience staying at a different property only a few doors down last year. We highly recommend staying at this property and hope to book another stay here for our trip to Cape Charles next year!

We loved our stay in this house. It was comfortable, exceptionally clean, convenient, and quiet. We cooked a few meals in the very-well provisioned kitchen and ate out a few times, too. We rented a golf cart to scoot around town and preferred to be a bit further from the beach, as this spot was extremely quiet. Our three-year-old ended up with a pretty nasty stomach bug, but Matt was understanding and kind in our communication describing the situation. If and when we return to Cape Charles, we'd definitely book this house again.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Matt’s beach cottage for my 30th birthday weekend. Open concept first floor great for entertaining/socializing, childrens toys, children’s books, pack n play, nice bath towels, well appointed kitchen with spices and cooking wear, outdoor shower and many other features to brag about. Matt was a great communicator during our stay and was immediately available to answer questions.

We had a fantastic stay for two nights. Everything in the listing was as advertised. The property was super clean with easy access to Mason Avenue in Cape Charles. The owners' instructions were really well done -- would definitely stay here again.

The home was nicely renovated. However, the water coming out of the shower was brown the evening we arrived making the shower and drinking water unusable. The water turned from brown to green on Saturday. We didn’t feel safe taking showers or drinking the water and as a result left the property early on Sunday morning. I texted the owner who obviously was aware of the issue because he left a gallon of drinking water for guests in the fridge. I would not rent this property again until the water situation is investigated and tested for safety. I would appreciate a refund for part of the stay since the home was unusable.

Another fabulous time in this home! We love Cape Charles and this home makes our stay even better. It's a great location, updated home, and has everything you need. We will definitely return. The owners are great to communicate with. We even received a message that the home was ready and we could check in early. It's in a safe area and always clean. We had perfect weather and enjoyed all that Cape Charles has to offer.

What a hidden gem! Loved this place. Great place, clean, comfortable, nicely decorated. We travelled with two other couples. We dined out, visited the beach, and walked around the charming little town. Rental was close to everything. We some great local places with great food! We visited a winery. We ended the day by watching the stars in the beautiful seating area in the backyard. We will definitely be back!

This was our first vacation as a family of 3 and we had a blast! The beach was perfect for our 17 month old to explore and play. We enjoyed taking the golf cart everywhere and the house was perfect for our needs. Our daughter loved the swing set! We hope to visit again next year!

This was our second time renting this home and it was as great as last year. Super clean, super convenient, we couldn't ask for anything more. We love our annual week in cape Charles, and having a great house to stay (having tried two other places in previous years that left a lot to be desired), in just adds to the experience!

Great house. Easy to get around obviously, we were on bikes, carts would be fun. A shame the rr has torn up the tracks-I knew it was in the works. The rail trail from the visitor center north 5 miles is very nice and well done. Lots to explore on the backroads. Trip went off without a hitch. Thanks so much.

This place is exactly as listed, if not better. It was immaculately clean, complete with dishware & basic pantry staples, and spacious with outdoor seating in both the front and back of the house. I would highly recommend staying here -- I'll be back!

We had an amazing time in Cape Charles! The house was absolutely pristine - I don’t think we’ve ever stayed anywhere quite so clean! We didn’t want for anything - the house had everything we needed. I wish we could bottle up the look on my daughter’s face when she discovered the chest of kids’ books in one of the bedrooms - by the way, nice touch with the doorknob (parents staying here will understand what I mean)! Rooms were cozy and beds were very comfortable. All three rooms have enough space for a pack and play as well. I have to mention the outdoor shower - I’m not normally one who enjoys an outdoor shower, but I didn’t use the indoor one even once because the one here was SO NICE and SO CLEAN. Truly glorious.
The cottage is on the back side of town and because we have a toddler, we did drive to the beach and to town, but when I say “drive” I mean less than three minutes to anywhere.
Can’t say enough good things about Matt and Mary’s place!

This is our second stay at this house and we absolutely love it. It’s adorable, it’s clean, it’s in a great location. We love the access to laundry and the outdoor shower. The kitchen is perfect and there were even spices for cooking. Our only recommendation would be to upgrade one of the beds to a king size! Don’t hesitate to book this home, you won’t regret it!!!

I stayed for a week with my husband and our 3 boys (11, 5 &2). The property is as beautiful in person as it is in the photos. It was extremely clean. The location is a little far from the beach but that didn't stop us from walking there every day. We looked at it as an opportunity for exercise but would recommend renting a golf cart to easily get around town. The boys loved the playset in the yard and the small stash of toys. I would absolutely recommend this rental and would stay here again.
