The futon was a little thin. Consider a thicker one for bigger guests.

This was a very well run and lovely ryokan, in a great location, with very welcoming staff, a lovely ambience, good facilities and excellent Japanese breakfasts. I was very pleasantly surprised.

A real traditional stay experience. Beautiful building and neighbours. Very friendly staff.

I missed running water in the room

The Ryokan Murataya is a nice family run place. The Staff is very friendly. They have all facilities expected. Japanese breakfast offered is simple and enough to get you going. The Ryokan is located in walking distances of all attractions in Kanazawa. It is popular by backpackers and families alike.

lovely helpful hosts great breakfast

This was the best place we have stayed at thus far during our time in Japan - a family-run ryokan with attention given to every detail. From the matcha we were offered upon arrival to the exquisite Japanese breakfast at a very reasonable price to the storage of our luggage whilst were were sightseeing in Kanazawa, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Murataya Ryokan for a wonderful stay!

Booked again for my second stay in Kanazawa. Very great location and is well connected to major sights by buses and some are even accessible to with a short walk. Murataya staff speak sufficient English; were all very friendly and were happy to share with you Kanazawa small stories! The ryokan is itself historical (love the reception area and the vintage telephones) but everything functions well and is great for anyone who want to get some authentic experiences. Shared bathrooms and toilets are very clean and tidy.

A small power strip could have been provided since there were only two sockets. Otherwise perfect!
