Location was nice, quiet. Away from the city, good place to relax after adventures in Ireland. Not far from gas station where one could purchase snacks, beverages.
Owner was kind, welcoming and helpful with travel advice/plans.
I think it was a nice place.

Unique property, exactly as booked, very comfortable and lovely personable welcome from the hosts.

It was an interesting old house. We were curious about its history, but never did find out what it was. It was full of modern art painted by the owner.
Although I was provided with a different Wifi login for my room, I was still unable to use it. I had to go downstairs to get useable Wifi.

The host were very lovely, friendly and helpful. The area was quiet and rural.
It was far from the city centre, the public transit was a long walk away (sometimes without sidewalk).
6.0
Very nice spot, with an attractive village nearby.
The hosts were nice and welcoming.
The whole house seems stuck in the 70s and could use a complete makeover, but nothing too bad: the mattress have seen better days but is still comfortable (and firm), you have a vast bedroom to sleep at night.
Our main issue was the water pressure (shower and toilet flush).
The bathroom was shared (did not remember that) and we could hear our neighbours loud TV and snoring (nothing the owners can do about that).
Not the best experience, but nothing as horrendous as other comments make it look like.

Lovely quiet and scenic area and had own patio area with table and chairs.
Without a car it’s a little out of the way.
As I am of a larger build I found the access to the bathroom on the smaller side as it is a makeshift doorway due to space.

This property is a HUGE disappointment. The host describes himself as a” writer and artist”. Well, perhaps his creative side has allowed him a flight of fictional imagination in his description of his home. It is NOT a castle and it is certainly not fit to be rented out as suitably habitable for tourists or visitors.
The original room that we had booked had (when I checked the booking en route) a bathroom shared with several other rooms. The owner swiftly agreed to an exchange for a room with its own bathroom when I contacted her.
The “room” we were allocated, Riverview Cottage, was, quite frankly, no more than a glorified garden shed. It was barely big enough to take the double bed, with just enough room on either side to stand up. No sitting space, no storage space for luggage and barely accessible shelving. The bed linen left a lot to be desired and the towels were old with frayed edges and one with the edge hanging off. There were no curtains on the windows, with one window having a board placed outside that could be moved or removed by anyone in the grounds of the property.
The bathroom was tiny with a small, half width door, which if you were in any way of a big build, you would have huge difficulty in accessing. The shower gel was half empty and obviously something left behind by a previous guest.
The shower itself provided a trickle of water and it took a while to try to get it to provide a warm trickle.
There could be, I am sure, several safety issues as the wiring was taped together in places and did not look secure or reliable.
The photos of the rooms of the property are falsely presented. The same few photos come up for each level of room availability, so the accommodation has no true representation of what the client is actually getting.
This property is overpriced, not fit for habitation and quite frankly, an embarrassment to the tourism industry of Ireland.

Dun laoghaire was pleasant
The accommodation was not as described and pretty grotty.
If I had booked into a hostel accomodation would have been a better standard.
Complained to host and booking .com.
Only stayed first night although booked for three.

The room was amazing and the setting was so peaceful. Would recommend it for a quiet getaway.
Hard to contact owners on arrival.
Also a dog was aggressively barking at me on the way in.

I think there are alot of unfair reviews on this site so I would like to address them. It is a guest house in a beautiful, large, old house (the word castle might be slightly misleading). You are sharing a bathroom. The bathroom is a little tired and could do with updating (strengthening the attachments on the toilet seat and fixing the shower door) but I didn't have any real issues with the toilet or shower and could use the facilties with ease. The shower is what you expect from these somewhat rural areas of Ireland in that it isn't that strong but you can totally wash your hair in it. There is a polite notice which reminds people to conserve water which I think is quite standard in a guesthouse of that size with that many people. The rooms are really spacious and I had no problems with damp. I thought it was clean and fresh and warm. There are two labrador dogs and a cat which are super friendly but mostly kept out the way. The garden is beautiful and it is very peaceful. There was a bin right outside the room which was handy. We were informed the wifi could be slightly slow in our room but was really strong in the hallway - it wasn't really a problem as we just used the wifi whilst in the rest of the house. We stayed there because we had a wedding nearby and access to a car so could drive around easily. We did use the Freenow app a couple of times and got a taxi easy enough. It's definitly cheaper than other accomodation in the area which is why we picked it. There is also a kitchen you can use. The hosts were very friendly. I do think it would benefit you to have a car if you are staying here. But again, that's pretty standard when statying in areas outside of cities in Ireland.

The word Castle in the name. The entry door is lovely. He has his paintings on display and we found in our room a copy of a poetry book he wrote.
The room and shared bathroom are in poor condition. No heat in our room; had to request a trash can. The shower has only one door on it; it was missing the other door so the bathroom floor easily go wet. The shower sign told us to limit our showers to five minutes. The toilet seat was not attached tightly. The furniture in the bedroom needed repairs or replacement. The owner doesn’t provide an history about the place.

Simply, great !

It was in the middle of nowhere next to a cemetery so nothing to be able to walk to if you are traveling to sightsee. The price was very high for the quality of the room and the fact that we were asked not to take a shower for longer than 5 minutes. We stayed at much more inexpensive places that were in the heart of small towns we visited with better rooms. The price was high and it ws in no way a "castle" type experience. I'd call it a hostel instead compared to the other places we stayed.

It looks like an imposing property with a nice garden.
The property was unclean, uncared for, and badly maintained. Our bedroom was dusty, hadn’t been vacuumed and had old, musty smelling bedding. It was unpleasant to sleep in. The online photographs don’t reflect what the property is really like. The shared bathroom was disgusting, smelly and we couldn’t bring ourselves to shower in it. We have travelled extensively and it is the worst property we have ever stayed in. We don’t understand how they get any positive reviews.

Perfect for us. Quite and relaxing.
John & Teresa were great host. Extremely helpful and accommodating.
Although our stay was short, we would definitely come back.

The property was beautiful and the owner was very nice and helpful.
It was in the middle is no where. It is fine if you have a car without a car you can’t get anywhere to get food. It would be nice for the owner to have breakfast since it is not close to food. They might have bikes but I didn’t ask. Other than that it was fine. Beautiful old property but keep in mind you are very far from Dublin.

The owners are very cultivated people. The property is very well being looked after. The garden has little corners to hide and have a break. The rooms are decorated with the exceptional paintings of the owner. In all the house is a special flair.
it does not concern the owners. But the public bus traffic had some surprises. The buses just dont run always like written on the tables or in internet. The buses sometimes just dont run or come to other times. But the Irish say this by themselves.
But it is possible to reach Ledville castle and his lovely owners by bus and a little walk downhill

That there was nobody there when we arrived at the time announced. Ther was no waste paper basket in the room nor bathroom.

Keys were easily handed over. The bedrooms looked nice and the beds were comfy.
To get there we had to walk 20 minutes on food on the roadside from the nearest bus or tram station. Definitely recommended to arrive by car of you can. We never met our hosts, except for 2 minutes when the keys were handed over.
No stores nearby.

.We have given it a 2 as the bed was comfy but that was the only positive
We Well where do start ! Filthy, no hot water to have a shower, but hot water in sink no tv in room, advertised as a BB but no breakfast offered or available. Tea and coffee but no milk and no one around to ask. Bathroom was old ,dated, and shabby toiletries was leftovers from previous Guests. The mirror was so smeared you could hardly see through it. When we went to so called communal lounge as was advertised we was told to wait while the host put his dressing gown on and this is how we was Greeted later in our stay. Its a half hour walk up hill to the nearest bus stop or shop. Would not recommend or go again.

For some people I think it would not be what they expect. It reminded me of the house my wife lived in as a teenager. Large old house with large garden in east Yorkshire. There were two flats in the house so people about who were not family. So nice just to be shown a room and left to get on with it. We had to leave for work at 5.45 am and were not back until mid evening. If that is what you want then book, if not don't.
For me there isn't a better. Just what we both needed for a hard work days away from home.
