I strongly recommend staying at the American Guest House, an authentic townhouse with an impressive staircase and quaint yet very comfortable bedrooms. Not too far from Dupont Circle, the guest house makes for a perfect romantic stay for visitors of the capital.

The room was really beautifully furnished in traditional style, the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The temperature was kept comfortable by a centralised central air conditioning system.

Location and hominess of the guesthouse
excessive and unreasonable rules unknown to first-time guests; curt (even rude) staff; felt like a 1880's boarding house with a strict landlady.

The house became a home, if only for a few days. The innkeeper anticipated our needs though out our stay and provided a delicious breakfast every morning.

Quiet atmosphere and safe location. The building internal and external were classic in original design.
Breakfast served on the premises would have been ideal. Also, someone available to provide historic details regarding the building would have been appreciated.

The location was perfect for us as we were visiting our daughter who lived 10 min walk from where she lived. We found the room clean and bed comfortable although we could have used extra pillows if they were available. Lastly, the host was very nice and personable. We definitely want to stay at American Guest House next time we come to DC.

rooms were kind of small. great for one person but for two a tight fit.

The room was nice and the mattress was fabulous.I would definitely return and the innkeeper was great. The breakfast was amazing and great coffee!
My only complaint was there was a family down the hall that kept talking in the hallway.
