Antares Hotel

The hotel is in a great location up the valley very close to the gondola lift station and away from the dense, cluttered, overly-commercialized part of town closer to the rail station. The nice area near the Kirchbrücke is a short walk away, and stops for the free E-bus are very close. Our room view had an unobstructed view of the Matterhorn and the pretty upper valley without condo clutter. The included breakfast was very good with many options including alternative milks, and the dining room had great views. Staff was very friendly, and we enjoyed drinks in the hotel bar. Our room was very nice with a large balcony, marbled bathroom, wood ceiling, and comfortable bed.

The walk from the rail station with luggage was longer than we thought, but the location was worth our walk. Had we known, we could easily have taken the E-bus to our hotel, or paid for one of the electric taxis.

Matterhorn view from the room and the balcony. Green electric bus access to and from train station to use with luggage. Enjoyable walk (20mins or more) into centre town and on the way visit the old village area called Hinterdorf Nil noise of the fast flowing river that goes thru the town. Staff readily gave us a missing extension cord for the kettle in the room. Just return for next guests!

Wooden structure of balcony looked tired, but safe enough. Must be difficult to upkeep due to the weather conditions of winter. Despite some reviews noting the decor and age of the hotel, we thought good value for money, spacious, clean and quiet for good nights sleep.

Older style hotel, needs a refurbishment, no restaurant. Bed pillows not comfortable. Small towels for the shower.

Beautiful hot water and towels. Had a kettle to make black tea. Fabulous view from balcony of Matterhorn
