The Place Hotel

Good balance between price and location of the hotel.

There are no lifts, but this was not that of a big deal because we are young. However, it might be a problem for people with reduced mobility.

Rain leaked into the room overnight!!!

Didn’t eat breakfast - was too expensive.

First stay was 6-7 Sep 26. We were in a very small basement double bed room. We also found that the front desk personnel weren’t always there when calling or when walking in during the evening.

Very nice location with plenty to do within walking distance. We were able to access lovely walking paths, shopping, dining, Calton Hill, The Royal Mile, and of course Edinburgh Castle. The staff were nice and accommodating.

We stayed in Room 3603, “cozy double room.” The space felt cramped and got very warm and stuffy at night. The bathroom was almost as large as the sleeping area. I appreciate that it was wheelchair accessible bathroom however I struggle to understand how someone in a wheelchair would even get down to that room (no lift) and how they might navigate a wheelchair from the main door through the room into the bathroom. The hairdryer failed, the bathroom also was not very clean. There was plenty of mold and mildew around the lower edges of the wall. Since this was listed as a 4-Star hotel, it came up fairly short of expectations.
