AC Hotel by Marriott Birmingham

Location. Fantastic for good eating places and the Utilita Arena where we had tickets. Loved that we had thoughtfully been given 2 rooms with a Jack and Jill door. Meant all 4 of us could be together.

Nothing. Everything was really good.

Stayed here a number of times now and it never fails to impress me. Quick and easy check in and staff welcoming and polite. Rooms are always impeccably clean and always comfortable. Stayed various times of the year and have never felt too hot or cold. The beds are so comfortable. The breakfast has an amazing choice and is always full. Times for breakfast are also excellent. The location is a short walk into the centre and a lovely walk down the canal to the Utility arena. Always my first choice to stay when visiting Birmingham.

There is nothing to not like.

The headboards when I was getting it on with the Mrs was quite loud … push the bed out would be better for future reference didn’t want to wake next door up

The location was fantastic. Central but not too close to the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The room sizes were great and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had an issue with a smell in our room (see below) and the hotel were very quick to move us to a new room. Great customer service. Breakfast selection is good but cooked breakfast was just ok. I wouldn't pay for it and only worth having if it is included in your booking

The windows were screwed shut so we had the air con on but it stunk out the room with the smell of cooking fat from the restaurant (either hotel or nearby restaurants). We were moved to a new room for the second night which had a beautiful view of the canal but unfortunately, the bed was absolutely rock hard. I didn't know they made mattresses that firm. We didn't want to ask to move again but wish we had because it was an awfully uncomfortable night's sleep. I wish the windows could just open a little, it makes me feel very claustrophobic and I hate having to use air con.
