Hotel-Restaurant Hackteufel

A charming, historic hotel and restaurant right in the heart of Old Town Heidelberg. Included breakfast was excellent, as were the other meals we had in the old-German style restaurant. Staff was wonderful, allowing us to check in early due to a recent medical emergency.

Not a thing!

Excellent location, very helpful staff that provided extra pillows and a kettle. The restaurant is very good for German food and beer . Even though it’s in the middle of the cafe and restaurant street it wasn’t noisy overnight

The shower is exceedingly small so move around with caution

When you first enter, it doesn't feel exactly like a hotel, as it is attached to a busy restaurant, and you walk through the middle of it to get to the desk. But both the restaurant and the hotel part are charming. The rooms are well set up and comfortable. The staff are great. And you can't beat the location, as you are right in the middle of the old town. The food in the restaurant is excelent, but it is important to make reservations, as it is very busy. We enjoyed everything about the place and would stay there again should we re-visit Amsterdam.

We only have one suggestion, and it concerns the shower set-up. There is a slight step-down to get out of the shower, and the floor of the shower can be slippery, especially when soap get on it. We felt like it was an accident waiting to happen, and would suggest either some kind of a grab bar be installed, or at least some of the texture strips for the floor of the shower.
