The location is fabulous, the room was large and comfortable, and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable.
Smokers and loud patrons outside the bar at 10 pm.

I travelled with two friends, each of whom remarked on the excellent rooms. All three of found the public spaces tastefully arranged and comfortable. The breakfast choices were extensive with high quality local produce included. The staff were friendly and most helpful with any enquiries. The bar was well stocked with Arran whiskies as well as other choices and they could offer their unique "Anvil" cocktail. Décor is of unique character throughout with much excellent photography throughout, capturing various Arran island wildlife and landscapes.
My friends and I found ourselves with two concerns, both associated with the plans of the new hotel owners: (1) the future employment of a top class staff team. (2) When the Douglas Hotel eventually re-opens in Spring 2027, we hope that future visitors experience the high standard of comfort and tasteful décor we enjoyed.

We’ve been coming to Arran for many years either staying at the hotel or using the bar and restaurant on other visits. The staff are always friendly. We are really looking forward to future visits and the upgrades planned by the new owners.

Location is fantastic. This was a treat for just one night as it’s that expensive to stay here. The two ladies that work at reception are absolutely fantastic. Very welcoming and good at their job.
The beds/pillows are starting to get quite tired. The two ladies at reception are a credit to the hotel. Bubbly and very welcoming compared to staff elsewhere unfortunately. Every time we visit the restaurant/bar, the staff aren’t great. After waiting for so long to order our drinks etc, I got up to find someone to place the order. The drinks were eventually prepared and put on the bar to sit while the young staff member started serving other people. I got up again to bring our drinks over as we had finished our food at this point.
