"Chambre spacieuse avec un bain sur terrasse privative. Le petit déjeuner japonais le matin peut surprendre pour un européen mais tout était cuisiné avec goût! Très sympa le verre d'accueil!"

Overall a fantastic experience. The footbath with a complementary drink every day was very welcoming. Also being able to walk around the venue in a yukata. It was our frist time in a Ryokan and it felt soo relaxing after a week in busy Tokyo. After entering our very spacious room (it looked a lot smaller in the pictures) we saw a steaming hot bath outside on our balcony that refilled itself with fresh water every now and then. The tatami mat floor felt very relaxing on our tired feet and the beds on the floor were suprisingly comfortable. We did need to get an extra matras out of the closet to put underneath to adjust the hardness, but that's more of a preference and it was nice that we had the option to 'customize' it. We ordered a Kaiseki dinner 1 night and although it ended up being a bit too much for us, it was delicious. We were brought to a semi private quarter where we could enjoy our dinner. Every table had a personal waiter that keeped checking on us from a distance without disturbing us. There was a public onsen that I tried as there was no one else there. As a westerner it felt a bit awkward to go in naked with other people there. At one point someone else came in but he was very respecting and looked away whenever possible. This finally made me understand why there are benches in showers, as they let you conveniently hide you private parts.
There was an option to book a private outdoor bath for 45 minutes free of charge. It was our understanding that this was a private onsen, but it ended up being just a bath that was a bit bigger than the one on our balcony. Also the breakfast was waaay too much. We would have liked some less overwhelming option. It was like getting out of bed and having an entire kaiseki dinner! We couldn't get anything in our stomach untill the end of the afternoon, and as tourists, having smaller portions of different things throughout the day is much more fun. So I would recommend just eating out. There's a very nice Coffee shop that serves good food and good coffee right across the venue (Camp Coffee, roasts their own beans on site) The last thing was that we wanted to book a relaxing massage to top things off, but for some reason it was closed.. so it would have been nice to know the opening times beforehand.

Too short of a stay

This was our favourite hotel of our trip. Everything was absolutely perfect. The breakfast was out of this world and we booked a Kaiseki dinner which was amazing! The bar had a foot spa which was such a nice experience.

Was expecting dinner in the room but was served in a room with other guests.
Food was not very good.
