Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya - All Inclusive

Great property, not too crowded and spacious clean rooms. The beach was cleaned daily, but there is still seaweed on the ground and in the water. We had the all inclusive package which is highly recommended as we would have spend about $1500 per day for 4 extra without it! Lots of families with young kids, but the property is spacious so you can always find privacy.

Over the past six years, I've stayed here three times, giving me a solid perspective as someone who has experienced various top-tier resorts and hotels worldwide. The dining options are fantastic, with a variety of restaurants available not only at this resort but also at nearby Mayakoba properties. You could easily enjoy your entire trip without leaving the resort. The amenities are impressive, featuring multiple pools, a well-equipped gym, a luxurious spa, and a beautiful golf course. One highlight was the bar, Cielo, which hosted fantastic DJ nights. Tauro, the steakhouse, rivaled some of the best restaurants in New York. We also enjoyed the sushi and had a great experience at Fuego. However, we found the Mexican restaurant a bit lacking. While some areas of the property could use a little TLC—particularly the exteriors and beachside pool areas—the most remarkable aspect of our stay was the staff. They truly elevate the experience with their fun, kind demeanor and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure a wonderful visit. I traveled with my two young adult children and opted for the ‘All-Inclusive’ package. With the exception of tips and a few menu items, nearly everything was included, making it worthwhile.

A mixed review. Some of the staff are exceptional and go above and beyond - they work extremely hard in a busy/challenging environment. Beautiful setting also. However, we were overrun by those attending an event at the conference centre and our experience was negatively impacted as a result - bar areas closed off. Reduced staff. No wait list system operated for diving/activities so my husband very nearly missed out because of a last minute late booking despite the fact that he had been in contact with the hotel 3 months prior and as soon as he arrived - had he not argued about it he wouldn’t have got to go diving. The food at the beach restaurant was terrible. Others in our group paid extra for a lagoon view and didn’t get one (due to the big booking). Prior guests leftover dinner (mouldy) left in room fridge. Mini bar not provided until asked (even though we were all inclusive). Surprise extra charges at the spa. No details of what is/isnt included in all inclusive provided as check-in. Overall it has the potential to be incredible but they need more staff, particularly when hosting conferences so as to not make paying holiday guests feel like second rate citizens. It’s was not a cheap holiday - I expected more.
