this is a property that practices old school excellent service. there is a doorman and a porter. the housekeeping staff are excellent. i LOVED the cozy, sophisticated ambiance of the venetian room bar and our bartender was friendly and informative. my room was great, super comfortable bed and linens. had a great kitchenette too
amenities/decor were just a bit tired. mostly felt very steeped in dc history, but room (particularly kitchenette) could use some updates.

In the heart of DC perfectly positioned for tourism. The staff was the star, each one smiling, pleasant, friendly, and welcoming. Helpful.. Great character in its boutique grandness but not too big or boastful.
Construction across the street was noisy sometimes

The beds were comfortable, but "squeaky". Bedding, towels and bathrooms were clean. Rooms are quite large. The location was good and close to everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very dark. Partially due to the age of the building and partially because it is set between two buildings and therefore, we had not much natural light. The hotel delivers an old-time field, also the furniture does not quite hit the mark. Amenities are inconsistent. We had rooms where the minibar was fully stocked, and we had rooms where it was empty. Some of us received complimentary water, others not.
