Sapa Clay House - Mountain Retreat

A genuine home stay. We had a terrific stay at Clay house. The staff and location couldn’t have be better

The staff are amazing, the views from the executive rooms are outstanding. The location is great for mountain hikes with guides as you are right there and the fresh food and juices were delicious!

The room above was very noisy ruining my first night. The wood material of the room smelled damp. When I left my clothes smelled damp too.

The property is incredibly lush and beautiful, offering spectacular views of the valley below. The staff is also outstanding and very accommodating. The food in the restaurant is incredible, each presentation was a work of art. The server and the manager were very kind and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The honeymoon suite is gorgeous!

The basic rooms have plywood walls and feel unrefined. They are also fairly noisy, since the soundproofing is not the best.

Location n the valley was good

Surrounded by noisy construction that it would have been polite to have been advised of. Noisy room overlooking dining area. Slippery paths. Poorly designed bathroom. No fridge in rooms. No glasses in rooms. Rotting banana left for entire stay in room. Breakfast was awful (raw oats are NOT muesli) and way too expensive. 10% surcharge for using credit card is outrageous. We were the only people staying at the hotel but it was clearly explained to us that we could not have an early check in despite arriving with no sleep. Thankfully we had booked an extra night so could access our room earlier but I pity anyone who hadn’t. Medication related request to put a freezer bag in the freezer was mishandled and caused loss of expensive medication. Overall the vibe was all about money and it took away from the experience.
