Location,location, everything!!!!!

We did have a wonderful vacation at the property and enjoyed spending time with our family. We had plenty of room for the whole family and loved being right on the beach. Also, having the deck gated helped with keeping the kids and dogs safe. Being closer to Middle Beach and the shops and restaurants was also a huge plus.

First the positive. The location is fantastic. Right on the beach. Vacasa did or tried to address the issues we raised & were friendly. The negatives are ice maker, separate ice machine & disposal didn't work, bathroom had broken window, saw a few roaches. Vacasa had disposal fixed, brought us ice, & sprayed for bugs, looked at window & said they'd order part to fix, said part was needed for ice machine. House could've been cleaner... broken glass was under bathroom rug & little one stepped on it & cut foot. Vacasa offered to address cleanliness if we sent pics but we didn't because we had already cleaned up parts of the house. The house & some worn out furniture needs lots of updating to make it comfortable. For comparable price we've stayed in much nicer more updated beach houses. Suggest having guests/ house keeping leave air conditioner on. It was so hot when we arrived we didn't think the house would ever cool.

We love it there, but there was an ice maker in the cabinet and it didn't work and the ice maker in the fridge didn't either.

If I can go back in time to change one thing about this trip, it would be to turn my happy butt around, say to the house, “Sea Y’all” LATER ✌ and tell everyone to go back home. Because this happy butt turned into a real sad butt when she witnessed the most shocking, disgusting, appalling thing about this beach house. And that was — There. Were. Cockroaches/bugs. E V E R Y W H E R E ! I wish I was exaggerating, I really do, because I’m still in shock about how sh*tty this whole vacation was and I am absolutely disappointed in how Vacasa handled the situation. DID NOTHING — I am one very unhappy customer and I won’t ever use them again. So I urge everyone who reads this to go on ahead and click on that back button and to. Get. The. He*l away from this rental. I ain’t joking. Here’s the breakdown. Cockroaches on the floor, on the front porch, on the walls, on top of the ceilings, out on the patio. Little tiny bugs in the bathroom, on the bathroom sink, on the towels — INSIDE the bath towels. Fruit flies all in the kitchen, on the kitchen table, in the kitchen sink, on the kitchen windowsill, on the stove! A total nightmare. Here are some other very disappointing things we’ve encountered with at our stay here. Nothing here works properly e.g. TVs, refrigerator, water temperature. Everything here is old and outdated i.e. the fabric dining chairs and patio chairs itch your hiney. Nothing provided either so make sure to BYOS(h*t) — don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

The location is fantastic and the house is great during the day. We enjoyed all the island had to offer and loved being right on the beach. My son got his car stuck in the driveway that had drifted with a storm and someone from the property management company noticed and helped us to get it out quickly. All was wonderful until the sun went down and the cockroaches came out. We were sitting on the deck the first night we noticed that they were pretty thick outside, so we retreated inside quickly. We made sure all trash was picked up and nothing was on the floor each night, but still came out to bugs every morning. On the second night, a very large cockroach fell from the ceiling onto my husbands face as he slept. Needless to say, he and my older two children did not get sleep during the night the rest of the trip. I contacted the management company immediately about the issue. I got an apology and they asked for a description of the bugs. I sent them pictures of many of the dead bugs around the house and never received any kind of response back. What started as an ideal vacation, turned south as most of the family was scared of sleeping at night. We will definitely be back to Dauphin Island, but will never visit this house or any other that uses Vacasa management company again after their lack of help or response in this situation.

We love dauphin island. The house location and beach access was amazing. There were very few household items like trash bags, dish soap, detergent, etc. We could have brought it but didn’t realize there would be so few items. Not a problem just different than typical vrbo’s, likely because it’s managed by a realty company.

Great stay, but house can use some tlc. Identified issues weren’t present during last stay and all communicated with the host point of contact.

Excellent location. Gulf water is 50 to 75 feet from balcony. Only negative was the noise the large Ice maker made at night. Which, in the summer would be well utilized, not so much in February.

We were supposed to celebrate our 1yr anniversary last month but I ended up in the hospital the week of this we had to cancel the trip. October was a long month so we needed some place to decompress and SEA Y’ALL was perfect. The loved the cleanliness and the layout of the house. The location was nice and the empty beach was awesome. We loved the deck and the 4 doors that lead into the bedroom, living room and kitchen, all of which allowed the amazing views from most of the house. The sunrise and sunsets were AMAZING. So yes we loved the house and would definitely recommend it to anyone, anytime.

Return.

The home was perfect; steps from the beach, stocked with sand toys and everything needed for a great family trip. Our only issue was not being able to check in until 3 hours past our promised time, but Vacasa made it right and we couldn’t have loved our time here more.

We had a great trip, being so close to water is amazing. The house had everything we needed and then some. You cannot be closer to the water, the owner seems well informed on the state of the home as they sent someone to scrap the sand off the drive during our stay. We did not report/request it, this was a proactive measure to keep things pleasant. He mentioned he had done it the week before as well, The trash is picked dup twice a week, and I found that there was even a "spotter" that came around to make sure the trash cans were pulled to road. We had almost forgot the second day. With a family of kiddos, we generate some trash fast.
My sister lives on the island, this was about our 6th visit over the years. I would certainly revisit this home. Thank you for sharing with our family. I wish the other rooms had blackout curtains, my kids rise with the sun otherwise.
If you visit take time to stop by Dockside (fish & chips are so good) & Lighthouse Bakery (everything is great, best coffee on island)
Regarding my experience with Vacasa and Cleaning Crew.
First interaction, we had a storm that disabled the AC Unit. I reported it around 6am, and i think by 1-2Pm it was repaired already. I noticed the neighbors home had the same problem and someone working on it too. This seems to be a common occurrence on the island, but the get this back running relatively quick.
Checkout: We didn't realize until it was go time, that checkout was earlier than 11am. Therefore we were rushing out as family of many small kids does, and several items including my clutch wallet, baby monitor, my daughters book with the "Best Friends" necklace as a book mark, and a few other small items were left. (Possibly lost/stolen wallet somewhere else, but I think it was just misplaced in the house somewhere. No cards were ever used from it.) I called a local POC from Vacasa and she was pulling into the house post-cleaning ( I assume) and searched for my wallet too. It wasn't until we got back home and realized some other things missing and i noticed that no-one ever reported that items were found. This was disappointing. My daughter was very upset when she realized she left her book under her pillow.
I did report my wallet to the police, and I even offered a reward on the local DI Facebook page. I was impressed with how many of the locals shared the post to help me try to locate it.

We loved the location of the beach house and the house floor plan was great. Sunrises and sunsets were amazing. Seeing dolphins almost every morning was exciting. However, the inside of the house was in need of some major TLC and not as nice as we had expected for the price we paid. The appliances were in bad condition, dishwasher had a terrible odor and wasn’t cleaning the dishes and the refrigerator freezer wasn’t working properly, wouldn’t freeze ice cream. It took 2 days with repair men working on them….Freezer was fixed but the dishwasher needs to be replaced…never did work properly. I understand that a beach house gets weathered but appliances should be in good working condition in an vacation rental for the amount we paid for a months stay. Also, couch was dirty, house was very dusty and in need of updating, cheap coffee maker. We went out and bought a new one, along with rugs for the bathrooms. Most bedding did not fit the beds correctly so bring your own linens. Not sure when the photos for advertising the home were taken but photos looked better than the house actually looked. With all this said we loved the quaint little island, Skinners Seafood, Pirates Restaurant, Lighthouse Bakery, Art Gallery and the few small shops on the island. The ferry over to Fort Morgan was fun, too. The fact that the beach house is right on the beach and just steps away from the Gulf was amazing. Just wish I had looked at more properties before booking Sea Ya’ll…there are other properties on the island that have been updated and are a better value for the money! However, we had a relaxing and wonderful month on the Gulf Coast and we will return to Dauphin Island in the future!
